How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 121
It was a continuous cycle of a miserable life. Her days were monotonous and dull. She worked, ate, and slept just to survive.
“Leticia, can you move those cups over there?”
“Yes.”
Her voice was dry and emotionless, unlike before.
By now, she had gotten used to the work. She knew that the shop manager had deliberately told her to move cups instead of the heavier dishes. Paul, the son of the shop owner, managed the place. Unlike his lecherous father, Paul was a decent young man.
Lately, Paul was the person Leticia interacted with the most. He had become someone who helped her a lot.
“Leticia, you’re sweating a lot today. Is it hot?”
“Ah… a little.”
“Wait a moment. I’ll get you a cool drink.”
“No, it’s o…”
Before she could refuse, Paul had already gone to fetch the drink. Leticia knew that Paul had a fondness for her.
“Here, drink this.”
“Thank you.”
As the cold drink, filled with ice, slid down her throat, the refreshing sensation cooled her down.
She hadn’t been feeling well lately due to disturbing dreams that had been making her restless. What kind of dreams were they? She would wake up screaming, but once she was awake, she couldn’t remember a thing.
As she finished her thoughts, Leticia glanced at Paul and noticed a wound on his forehead.
“Oh? What happened to your forehead?”
“Oh, this? I fell down the stairs yesterday. Haha, I swear someone pushed me, but when I looked, no one was there. Weird, right? It’s like there was a ghost or something.”
A strange sense of déjà vu washed over her, and her heart started to race. It looked like he had fallen from a considerable height, judging by the large bruise and scratches.
“Are you alright?”
“Of course. It’s a good thing it’s just this. I’m pretty sturdy. Want to feel?”
Paul flexed his arm, offering it for her to feel. His body was toned, the muscles clearly defined.
“Haha… I’m fine.”
“Did I come on too strong? I’m not very good at this… Oh, Leticia! Didn’t you mention the lightbulb in your house went out? How about I come by today and fix it for you?”
It had been a while since the light had gone out, but Leticia had been too uncomfortable to invite anyone into her home. However, with the unsettling dreams she had been having, she figured it was time to replace the lightbulb and had mentioned it to Paul.
Paul, at least, seemed trustworthy.
“Really? That would be great.”
“Then let’s head over after work.”
“Sounds good.”
Paul and Leticia’s houses were in the same direction. After work, they walked together to her place.
Flicker.
The lightbulb blinked a few times before fully lighting up the dim room.
“Thank you, Paul.”
“No problem. If you ever need help again, don’t hesitate to ask.”
Paul scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
The small, confined space made both of them feel a bit uncomfortable. His eyes wandered around the house, taking in its sparseness.
It was a bare room, furnished only with essentials, looking as if it could be packed up at any moment.
“You must like things neat and tidy.”
“Uh… yeah.”
In truth, she just couldn’t afford more.
“Leticia… if you’re free tomorrow after work, how about we grab dinner? My treat! Oh, no pressure, of course, just as friends…”
“Friends…”
Friends.
It had been so long since she’d heard that word. It felt strange, almost foreign. The memory of her time at the academy came rushing back—the hateful stares, the betrayal by Richelle, whom she had thought was her best friend.
She could be betrayed again.
Still, Leticia felt so lonely. She longed for someone, anyone, who would listen to her.
She needed someone she could confide in, someone she could tell how hard everything was. Paul seemed like a good enough person. Humans couldn’t live alone, after all. There was no harm in talking to him more.
“Alright.”
She couldn’t stand being alone any longer. She wanted to drive away this suffocating emptiness.

That night, she had another dream. A strange, unsettling dream.
Leticia found herself wandering in the dark.
“Huff, huff…”
No matter how far she ran, the darkness seemed endless. There was nothing there, yet she felt as if something was chasing her. It was a familiar sense of dread.
“Ahh!”
Something wrapped around her ankle, and she fell hard to the ground. No matter how much she struggled, she couldn’t free her leg from whatever had grabbed her. It was cold and slimy, as if it were freezing her body from the inside out.
“Leticia…”
A haunting voice echoed, sending chills down her spine.
She knew that voice. Her body instinctively reacted to it.
“Ah!”
A huge, featureless shadow appeared in front of her. Leticia knew what it was.
Vallon.
