How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 123
As she stood in front of the ever-imposing blue iron gate, Leticia’s heart pounded heavily. Whether it was because of her ragged appearance or something else, today, the gate looked even larger and taller than she remembered.
Had it always sparkled like this?
The moment Leticia approached the gate, it creaked open with a loud, ear-piercing sound, as if inviting her in. There was no one in sight along the path beyond the gate. Leticia stepped inside.
Boom.
The gate slammed shut behind her with a forceful clang. There was no turning back now. Not that she wanted to.
Leticia hadn’t looked back even once on her way to the Kattravan manor. There was no reason to. There was nothing left behind her that she would miss.
Limping on her injured leg, she made her way down the long path.
“Welcome.”
As soon as Leticia stepped inside the Kattravan estate, a maid greeted her, as if she had been waiting.
Every step Leticia took echoed through the vast space. The interior was enormous, and the mansion exuded a cold, lifeless atmosphere.
No matter when she visited, the Kattravan estate always felt frigid and devoid of warmth. The cold air pricked at her skin, making her hair stand on end—a tension she hadn’t felt in a long time.
“Hello,” she replied.
It should have seemed odd to show up without notice, yet the maid, bowing politely, got straight to the point.
“Are you here to see His Grace, Duke Vallon?”
Duke? Had Vallon become the duke in the meantime?
Just hearing his name made Leticia’s heart race, reminding her she was still alive. It was a sensation she hadn’t felt in a long time.
“Yes.”
“Please, follow me.”
The maid led her to a door and then disappeared. Leticia stood in front of the large black door, but she couldn’t bring herself to open it.
She had boldly come to see him, but now she didn’t know what to say. Her thoughts were a mess, completely unorganized. After pacing for a while, Leticia took a deep breath, grabbed the doorknob, and turned it. Her palms were slick with sweat from her nerves.
Creeeeak.
Her heart felt like it was about to burst.
“You’re here?”
“Vallon…”
Vallon greeted her as if they had just seen each other yesterday. The man she thought was dead stood there, alive and well.
Almost as if he had been expecting her, Vallon was perched casually on the edge of his desk, his chin arrogantly tilted upward.
Dressed in a flawless suit, he looked every bit the nobleman. In stark contrast to her disheveled appearance, Vallon still radiated power.
“Leticia, you’ve come too late, haven’t you? You wasted so much time, and innocent people died for it. Not that they didn’t deserve it—they were after what was mine, after all.”
Vallon’s voice soft and smooth, as if savoring the words like fine wine.
Standing before him was still terrifying, but not in the same way it used to be.
“Leticia, do you understand now? Being by my side is the safest place for you. No one will ever love you like I do.”
There was no need to ask what she had to ‘understand’. Leticia nodded.
“I know. Now I do.”
Her gaze wandered to his forehead. It should have been smooth and unblemished, but there was a faint scar there, healed from a wound.
‘Could it be…?’
The scar was in the exact spot where she had struck Vallon with the vase shard in her dream. There was no mistaking it.
“Do you remember this? The scar? You were the one who gave it to me, Leticia.”
She had nothing to say. Back then, she had truly intended to kill him.
Leticia’s eyes dropped to Vallon’s polished shoes. The pristine, expensive leather contrasted sharply with her own ragged state. It made her painfully aware of the vast gulf between them.
She was just a commoner who could fall into poverty as soon as her family’s business collapsed, while Vallon would always be a member of the wealthy Kattravan family, never needing to work a day in his life.
“Leticia, I’m glad you came back. In the end, you chose me. Look, just like I said, everything turned out the way I predicted. Now, everything is perfect,” Vallon said, his lips curling into a satisfied smile.
In truth, she had no choice but to pick Vallon. He had orchestrated everything so that there were no other options left. In a twisted way, Leticia had to admire how thoroughly he had planned it all.
“Tsk, and your ankle is broken now… Why did you make me so angry? I’ll have to disinfect every part of you that was touched by that wretch.”
My poor Leticia.
