How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 124
In the end, she couldn’t kill him. Even though she had the chance. But she must have realized it too—there’s no one left to help her but him.
Now, she truly had no one and nothing left except for Vallon.
Her family and trusted friends had betrayed her. Of course, he orchestrated the situation, but all the choices were theirs. Leticia also had other options, but in the end, she chose him of her own will.
She chose exactly ho he had hoped.
It felt as if he had the whole world in his hands.
“Leticia, I kept my promise, didn’t I?”
Leticia had forgotten what promise he was talking about. The one where she said not to harm someone precious to her.
Vallon had indeed never directly laid a hand on Richelle. He had simply added fuel to the jealousy already brewing inside her. After that, Richelle destroyed herself, like the fool that she was.
He gently brushed Leticia’s skin with his fingertip, as if to feel how much she had suffered.
“Oh dear, your skin has gotten so rough. What would you like me to do about it?”
Vallon stared at Leticia with half-lidded eyes, a sly smile tugging at his lips, as if he found this all very amusing.
“I’m tired. I don’t want to live like that anymore… I just… I just want to go back to how things were.”
“Alright, let’s go back.”
Like giving a reward to a well-behaved child, Vallon patted Leticia’s head. The world Vallon offered was more stable and comfortable than anything else.
She no longer wanted to escape from him. She had experienced firsthand how miserable and cruel life was outside his embrace.
Wouldn’t anyone else feel the same? Everyone craves attention, love, fine clothes, delicious food, a warm bed, and a comfortable home. Who wouldn’t want those things?
She couldn’t remember if she had always been this materialistic. But after getting used to such luxuries, it was impossible to adjust to anything less.
“Life without me must have been quite hard, hm? My poor Leticia. I would never betray you.”
“…I know.”
“Then it’s time for you to keep your word, Leticia. Do you remember? You promised you’d marry me.”
A clear memory resurfaced in Leticia’s mind.
‘Want to play house? You’re my husband, and I’m your wife! We’re married now!!’
‘I’m Leticia’s husband… We’re married? Are you going to marry me?’
‘Yeah!’
That one simple phrase had turned their childhood game of playing house into reality.
“Marriage….”
The word, which had once felt so repulsive, now sounded like a sweet temptation to Leticia. She had fought so hard to break free from Vallon, but in the end, she had come back to him on her own.
“Do you not want to?”
“No… let’s do it. Let’s get married.”
The sly devil with the face of an angel had gotten exactly what he wanted without ever needing to oppress her. It was a perfect victory, Leticia’s total defeat.
Did she love him? He wasn’t as terrifying as he once was, but… she didn’t know. Her feelings were a complicated mix of affection and resentment, but somewhere within that, there was definitely an attraction to him.
She was simply too exhausted to fully understand her own emotions. Maybe, with time, she would figure out how she really felt about Vallon.
Smiling brighter than she had ever seen him, Vallon wrapped his arms around her. The familiar scent of his soap filled her senses, stirring a distant memory.
Vallon’s scent.
Had she missed him?
Strangely enough, his scent reminded her of a time when she had been happy. Like how a song or smell can transport you back to a specific moment, Vallon’s scent brought her back to the past.
‘Let’s go, Vallon.’
She recalled saving him from Ribolt as if it had happened only yesterday. His scent made her feel as though she had returned to that time, to those days at Arvata Academy, when she was filled with excitement and joy.
To the days when she had shone brighter than anyone as Leticia Cavendish.
“It seems we’ve taken the long way around, haven’t we?”
The reason she hadn’t searched for Vallon earlier might have been because she was afraid. Afraid that the last person she had left in her life might disappear too. Perhaps, deep down, she had wanted him to keep obsessing over her.
She had hated his obsessive attention, but after losing everything, she found that even that was something to long for. A part of her had hoped that all the bad things happening to her were because of Vallon. When she heard that Paul had fallen down the stairs, she had even felt a strange thrill, thinking that Vallon was still watching over her.
It might sound insane, but for a brief moment, that realization had filled the void of loneliness and emptiness inside her.
Now, she didn’t care anymore. Maybe she had gone mad.
But who wouldn’t go mad in a situation like this?
One thing she knew for certain.
The only way to truly escape him was to turn back time and never meet him in the first place. But since she couldn’t control time, there was no escaping his madness.
“Our hearts are finally aligned. I’m so happy.”
In the end, the madman’s long-standing dream had come true.
There was no way to escape his obsession from the start.
