How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 16
Since that day, Leticia made every effort to avoid Vallon. She did everything she could to avoid running into him. As soon as class ended, she was the first to leave, and she started eating lunch in her dorm room.
Because of her attempts to avoid Vallon, she couldn’t even dream of going on dates with Kyle. Every time she saw someone with black hair, she would rush away. She didn’t know how she had ended up living like a fugitive, but she had a strong feeling that it would be best to never get involved with Vallon again.
He was undoubtedly different from ordinary people—too different. For about a week, she had managed to avoid him successfully.
Late in the afternoon, after all her classes had ended, Leticia was on her way back to the dormitory. Since the dorms were separated by gender, she had to pass by the boys’ dormitory on her way to the girls’ dormitory.
As she walked, exhausted, towards the dormitory, Leticia suddenly stopped in her tracks. Someone was sitting on the bench right in front of the boys’ dormitory.
It was Vallon.
Vallon, who had been walking around clean for a while, was now covered in dirt from head to toe.
With Ribolt gone, no one should be bullying him, so who could have done this to him?
Although the sight of Vallon sitting on the bench tugged at her heart, Leticia had no intention to get any closer to him.
This was Vallon’s life, after all. She no longer felt sympathy for him; instead, she found him pitiful.
It wasn’t possible for someone to always be there to help him. Besides, Leticia had already seen someone from the duke’s household getting involved, somewhat. It would be a much faster solution than having someone like her clumsily try to help him.
And she saw how the situation with Eric was resolved with money not long ago. Why was Vallon acting so frustratingly when he could solve everything by talking to his father?
In the end, Leticia turned her head away, choosing to ignore Vallon. Even so, she couldn’t shake the uncomfortable feeling in her chest as she hurriedly walked towards the girls’ dormitory.
“Leticia.”
Someone called her name from behind. It had to be Vallon.
What does he want now?
He had only called her name, but it felt like she was being threatened. The hair on the back of her neck stood up.
Was it really so terrifying for someone like Vallon, an outcast, to call her name? It didn’t make sense, but then Kyle’s face flashed in her mind, and she felt like ignoring Vallon would be a mistake.
Eventually, Leticia closed her eyes tightly before turning around.
“Oh? Vallon?”
She acted as if she were seeing Vallon for the first time, though it felt awkward. His unsettling gaze landed on her.
“Leticia, why are you just walking past me?”
“Huh?”
When she raised her head, she saw that Vallon was in a serious state. His face was covered in bruises and cuts, and it looked like the thick lenses of his glasses had cracked, leaving scratches on his face.
The sight made her frown. He didn’t seem to be in pain, though, as his expression remained unchanged.
“You say we’re friends, so why did you ignore me and walk by?”
“Ah.”
It seemed Vallon had noticed that she had tried to avoid him. Of course, he would pick up on that. He was always weirdly perceptive. She couldn’t come up with anything to say because he was right.
In moments like this, the best thing to do was to act confidently.
“It’s not that. I didn’t realize it was you.”
Through the cracks in his broken glasses, Vallon’s eyes gleamed like a flash of lightning.
“Liar.”
The cold certainty in his voice sent a shiver down Leticia’s spine. Her hands fidgeted as if they had a mind of their own, so she quickly hid them behind her back and tried to change the subject.
“It’s not a lie… What happened to you today? Did someone bully you again?”
“Yes.”
“Who?”
When she asked who had bullied him, Vallon didn’t respond. Well, there were plenty of people at the academy who would bully someone like Vallon.
Every time the wind blew, Leticia could catch a glimpse of Vallon’s red eyes, watching her intently. His heated gaze felt as if it were burning a hole through her. From the beginning, Vallon’s demeanor hadn’t matched that of someone being bullied.
In fact, his attitude and aura seemed closer to that of the one doing the bullying. Suddenly, Ribolt’s words flashed through Leticia’s mind.
‘That bastard started it! I was just hanging out with the others, talking, and he looked at me with that nasty glare! I was just going to say something when he—he spit at me!’
For some reason, Leticia started to think that maybe Ribolt had been telling the truth.
