How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 26
Huu—
Suddenly, she felt a breeze on the back of her neck, as if someone had blown on it, and her hair, which had been tucked behind her ear, slid forward over her shoulder. Goosebumps erupted all over her skin.
This wasn’t a dream. This was reality.
There was something in the room.
‘I need to get out.’
Without even bothering to put her underwear back on, Leticia rushed out of the dormitory, running as fast as she could.
The early morning air was cold and dry. The chill was even more biting after she had been sweating. Wearing only a thin nightgown with nothing underneath, her body shivered as she ran.
Between her legs, the slick liquid continued to flow, and she clutched her loose nightgown tightly to hide the feeling of emptiness down below. While the long skirt hid everything, the persistent wetness made her constantly aware of it.
Even though she had escaped the dormitory, her heart refused to calm down.
There was no one outside, given the late hour. The deserted early morning atmosphere felt eerily similar to the dream she had in the lecture hall. The empty air made her wonder if this, too, was a dream. Leticia pinched her cheek hard to check, her eyes filling with tears from the sharp pain.
“Haah… definitely not a dream.”
She took a deep breath, trying to steady her wildly beating heart. Then, she spotted a figure sitting on a bench near the dormitory. It was too dark to make out who it was, and the eerie mist and faint crescent moon added to the spooky atmosphere.
‘Who could that be at this hour? It’s not some creep, is it?’
Worried that it might be a criminal prowling around in the night, Leticia kept her distance. She prepared to run if the figure made any sudden movements.
After staring for a while, squinting to get a better look, she recognized the familiar silhouette. It was Vallon. His dark clothes and black hair blended perfectly with the darkness. Despite everything, seeing someone she knew made Leticia feel a bit more at ease.
With a sigh of relief, she placed a hand over her heart and slowly approached him.
“V-Vallon? What… What are you doing here at this hour?”
As she got closer, something about Vallon felt different than usual. He was slouched back on the bench with his legs crossed arrogantly, a posture unlike his usual rigid stance.
His long hair, usually hiding his face, now allowed his crimson eyes to be fully visible, their color gleaming ominously in the dim light. He sat there, relaxed, as if he had been waiting for someone.
As she approached, Vallon lifted his head and looked directly at her.
His eyes were like pools of blood.
“Oh, Leticia, you’re here?”
His overly casual greeting, as if he had expected her, was unsettling, but Leticia, still on edge, didn’t catch the oddity in his tone.
“You…”
She stopped in her tracks, a feeling of déjà vu washing over her, like when she had seen the red-eyed shadow creature in her dream. She continued speaking.
“Oh… what happened to your face? Did they bully you again?”
Even from a distance, Vallon didn’t look well. His clothes were tattered, and the injuries from a few days ago seemed to have reopened, leaving visible traces of blood. His wounds appeared deep even at a glance.
His languid posture, despite his severe condition, seemed out of place. It made her wonder who on earth would torment Vallon so relentlessly, especially considering that he was the Kattravan Duchy’s heir.
“I was waiting for the infirmary to open.”
Why was he waiting out here at this hour, in the cold? He looked like he might freeze before even reaching the infirmary.
It was an odd response. Leticia looked at him incredulously.
“Then you should go back to your room. You’re bleeding a lot, and it’s freezing. What if something happens to you?”
“Well, then that’s just how it is.”
“What?”
Was he in a state of resignation?
Vallon spoke as if it didn’t matter to him at all if something went wrong. Even as his wounds bled and opened wider, his expression remained unchanged.
At times like this, Vallon felt unsettlingly different, as if he wasn’t quite human. Though they were both the same, it was as if there was something fundamentally different about him.
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t figure out what was going on inside his head.
