How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 3
“Now you’re even lying?”
On top of that, Ribolt was one of the many who followed Leticia around like a devoted worker bee.
Of course, Leticia had no interest in him.
Leticia extended a hand to Vallon, who was covered in shoe prints.
“Let’s go, Vallon.”
“Le-Leticia! Wait a minute…!”
Ribolt hurriedly stepped in front of Leticia, grabbing Vallon’s hand to stop her. But she ignored him and walked away without hesitation.
Vallon quietly followed Leticia as she led him. A pleasant scent wafted from him as he trailed behind her.
The new and refreshing scent stuck firmly in Leticia’s mind.
It wasn’t until they entered the infirmary that Leticia let go of Vallon’s hand.
She turned to look at his injuries from being beaten by Ribolt.
However, his hair covered half his face, so only the blood-stained corner of his mouth was visible. She couldn’t help but feel pity for him.
‘How pitiful.’
Really, that was the only feeling she felt towards him.
“Vallon, are you okay?”
Despite the question, Vallon didn’t lift his head. His gaze was fixed on Leticia’s fair hand, which had just been holding his.
Her fingers were so small that it seemed like they would break if he squeezed them too hard. He had always been curious about how they might feel in his touch. Every time he saw those hands during class, he wanted to grab them tightly.
He had always thought physical contact with others was unpleasant, but her soft, small hands were different. They were warm and delicate.
He felt an urge to cut one off, so he could touch it anytime he wanted. After all, she had two hands—missing one wouldn’t be such a big deal, would it?
Vallon’s eyes turned blood red, almost brimming with tears, as he stared fixedly at her hand.
“Vallon?”
“Ah…”
It wasn’t until Leticia called his name again that Vallon seemed to hear her voice and finally raised his head.
Behind his thick glasses, Vallon’s red eyes glowed eerily.
When Leticia saw his bloodshot eyes, her foot involuntarily stepped back.
Were his eyes always red?
Although she had many classes with Vallon, this was the first time she had spoken to him directly and realized the color of his eyes.
What Leticia knew about Vallon was limited—he was three years younger but in the same grade, his name, and that he was part of the Kattravan Ducal family.
How low did people think of him that they dared to bully the son of a duke? In reality, there were several students and families that would be in serious trouble if Vallon simply spoke up.
But Vallon never did. He endured the bullying without showing any signs of struggle, attending the academy alone.
No matter what happened, he never missed a class.
“Why… did you help me?”
“Huh?”
“Just… Why did you help me?”
His voice was low, almost echoing as if they were in a cave. His eyes were hidden behind his hair again, so she couldn’t tell what expression he had.
Did his voice seem excited, or was it just her imagination mistaking it for anger?
Leticia thought that perhaps Vallon, being human, must have felt humiliated, having been seen beaten by someone else.
“Isn’t it natural to help a friend if they’re being bullied?”
“Friend?”
“Yes.”
Vallon muttered the word ‘friend’ in a low voice while keeping his gaze fixed on the ground.
Friend, he repeated.
Even though he was three years younger, they were in the same grade and took the same classes, so wasn’t it natural to consider him a friend?
“Thank you, Leticia Cavendish.”
“You… knew my name?”
Leticia was surprised when Vallon, who had never shown any interest in her, knew her name.
“Wouldn’t it be harder not to know who you are?”
Well, it would be strange not to know. She was, after all, famous at Arvata Academy. Feeling slightly proud, Leticia lifted her chin a little.
For some reason, the thought that Vallon, who seemed uninterested in anyone, knew her made her shoulders straighten. Her tone toward him softened.
“That’s true, isn’t it? Ahem, anyway, why do you let them bully you all the time?”
“Just because.”
His answer was indifferent, as if it had nothing to do with him. It was hard to believe that this was the same person who had been surrounded and beaten by several boys just moments ago.
Had he become desensitized to the bullying? Vallon’s calm demeanor caught Leticia off guard.
“Just because? Are you a fool? Why do you just take it?”
“That way, I don’t attract attention…”
Vallon spoke with an embarrassed smile, but his voice was so soft that Leticia could barely hear it. His body was covered in footprints, yet he smiled as if nothing had happened, and it unnerved her a little.
“What?”
“Huh? No, nothing…”
“Anyway, isn’t that why they keep bullying you? Because they think you’re easy to push around?”
The more Leticia pressed Vallon, the more his lips curled upward. With blood still on his lips, the way he grinned was eerie. Even though they were in the same room, she couldn’t understand what he found so amusing.
Looking at him, Leticia started to wonder if he might not be as intelligent as she thought.
‘What’s with that expression? It’s creepy… How did he even get into this academy? And three years early, at that. Must be thanks to his family’s influence.’
