How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 44
“You bastard, it was you, wasn’t it?”
“What are you talking about?”
“The one who did that to Kyle.”
“Ah.”
“Ah?”
Seeing Vallon nod so nonchalantly made Leticia want to smash his head with a rock.
“Is that why you were so desperate to find me this morning?”
The atmosphere shifted in an instant. The smile faded from his face, and Vallon now looked at Leticia with a crooked gaze, his demeanor turning cold.
Leticia instinctively took a step back as a chilling aura emanated from him. His blood-red eyes made her feel like he was ready to devour her.
She kept backing up until her foot hit a stone, halting her retreat.
With his head held high, Vallon radiated the air of an arrogant ruler. Watching Leticia tremble like a helpless prey before him, he let out a cold sneer. His red lips twisted asymmetrically, making him appear far from normal.
“I asked if that’s why you were looking for me.”
Though his words were polite, his tone was oppressive, as if he were trying to crush her under his authority.
“What exactly do you want from me? What did I do to deserve you tormenting me like this?!”
Leticia shouted, her voice loud and trembling with anger as she clenched her fists.
What had she done to him to deserve this? No matter how much she thought about it, she couldn’t find a reason why Vallon would be targeting her.
Before she had tried to help him, they had no connection whatsoever. Why was he doing this? The constant torment was more painful than any physical torture.
“That disgusting dream… you’re behind all of that too, aren’t you? I know everything!”
“You just realized that only now?”
Vallon didn’t deny it. In fact, he seemed almost pleased that she had finally figured it out.
“I was starting to feel disappointed since you didn’t catch on despite all the obvious signs.”
“Why are you doing this? What did I ever do to you?!”
“I’ve never forgotten about you for even a moment, but it seems like you’ve completely forgotten about me. That made me angry, I suppose.”
“What? When did I ever meet you?”
Talking to Vallon always left Leticia feeling like their conversation was fragmented. He would drop cryptic hints but never give her any answers, leaving her frustrated. Had she done something to hurt him in the past without realizing it?
As a child, Leticia had been pretty and had enjoyed having boys follow her around like bees to a queen. But the games they played were nothing more than make-believe tea parties. Could something unpleasant have happened back then?
Yet she couldn’t recall ever bullying anyone, and Vallon was the son of Duke Kattravan. A commoner like her wouldn’t have had the chance to meet someone of his rank, much less mistreat him. Even as a child, she knew enough to avoid dangerous situations.
“I’ve waited all this time, trusting only in what you said. I even changed everything to be the way you liked it… but then you just forgot about me? How could you?”
“What are you talking about? When did I ever meet you?”
“You really don’t remember? Or are you just pretending not to?”
Vallon stood up suddenly, casting a large shadow over Leticia.
“Are you delusional? You’re crazy.”
“Yes, I am crazy… about you, Leticia. I admit that.”
“You lunatic! Stay out of my life and leave my friends alone!”
Hearing that Kyle had been injured, Leticia immediately thought of Ribolt.
Why hadn’t she realized it sooner? Ribolt, who used to torment Vallon, had also been hurt. Could it have been Vallon’s doing as well? If so, perhaps Ribolt knew something. He had mentioned wanting to tell her something.
If only she had spoken to him earlier…
“Why am I not one of your people?” Vallon asked.
“Why? Are you seriously asking me that?”
“I want to be someone you care about too.”
Vallon stepped closer to Leticia, reaching out as if to touch her. But just as his hand extended toward her, Leticia spat on him. Sticky saliva dripped down his hand.
“You’ll come looking for me when you’re all alone.”
Vallon’s words came out slow and deliberate, each syllable dripping with menace. He licked the saliva off his hand with his tongue, his gaze still fixed on her with a predatory intensity.
“I don’t want to clip your wings and lock you away, but you seem intent on testing how far I can go. Do you really want to find out what I’m capable of?”
