How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 63
III.
As Vallon had said, the long winter break had finally ended.
The cold snow that tormented Leticia at the wretched cabin had melted away, leaving no trace behind, and the rough texture of her hands and dry hair had regained their shine.
She hadn’t realized how precious her ordinary life was until now.
The memory of having to sell herself in the red-light district felt like a distant dream. Standing at the academy gates, a place she never thought she would return to, she was overwhelmed with emotion and nearly burst into tears.
“Let’s go in.”
If only this leech beside her wasn’t there. Leticia didn’t look at Vallon. She simply stared at the shadow cast beside hers, thinking of ways to shake off this dark presence.
She had been suspicious of his eerie shadow for some time now. While it was a shadow like any other, there was something unsettling about it—just looking at it gave her chills and filled her with dread.
How could a mere shadow cause such fear?
Throughout the remainder of the break, Leticia spent her time pondering Vallon’s mysterious powers. Such a powerful ability should have been known throughout the academy. Yet, she had never heard anyone mention it.
It was clear that the Kattravan duchy was keeping Vallon’s powers a secret. Leticia knew that Vallon could wield an invisible force and freely enter the dreams of others.
How he managed to do that, or how long he could maintain it, was unclear. But the physical traces left on her body made it obvious that it was no mere dream.
So had she truly been with Vallon in those moments? Even that wasn’t certain. She needed to uncover the truth about him—only then could she free herself from this sinister demon.
She couldn’t live like a puppet forever, being toyed with by him. This was not the future she had envisioned for herself.
No matter how powerful Vallon was, he had to have a weakness. She needed to understand the nature of his powers and find that vulnerability.
‘I need to figure out how to escape this madman’s obsession.’
Oblivious to Leticia’s inner thoughts, Vallon, dressed immaculately from head to toe, firmly held her hand as they walked into the academy together.
“Hey, isn’t that Leticia?”
“Who’s that guy with her? Never seen him before.”
“I heard her family went bankrupt. Guess that wasn’t true.”
“The guy with her looks kind of scary… but he’s seriously handsome. What’s their relationship?”
“Is he a transfer student? Or a new student?”
Whispers surrounded them. Everyone seemed curious about the unfamiliar man walking hand-in-hand with Leticia.
If they knew that the man beside her was the once outcast Vallon, they’d be shocked. Leticia wasn’t bothered by the attention—in fact, she found some comfort in it. She hadn’t felt this alive in a long time.
“Leticia, it seems like we make a good match.”
Vallon smirked as he gazed down at her head.
“They can’t stop talking about us.”
Of course they couldn’t. They’d made such a conspicuous entrance, and Vallon was strikingly handsome, impossible to ignore. With his dangerous, cold beauty, everyone was likely intrigued, but only on the surface.
If they knew his true nature, they would have a different opinion.
“Leticia!”
A familiar voice called out, and Leticia turned to see Richelle, her close friend, running toward her with her red hair streaming behind her. The moment she saw her, Leticia’s body instinctively wanted to run toward her, excitement welling up.
But as soon as Vallon noticed the unfamiliar smile blooming on Leticia’s face, his dark brows twitched ever so slightly.
“Leticia!”
“Richelle! Ah—”
Before she could move, Vallon’s grip on her hand tightened, almost crushing it. The force pulled her back, causing her body to stumble as she attempted to rush toward Richelle.
Thud.
Her head bumped into something hard as Vallon yanked her into his embrace from behind. Leticia, much smaller than Vallon, was engulfed by his body, as if she were being swallowed up.
“Where do you think you’re going? Your place is right here.”
“Richelle is my best friend.”
“So?”
Leticia was taken aback by the bluntness of his response but couldn’t argue. He remained arrogantly calm.
“Can’t I at least talk to my friend since it’s been a while?”
“And what about me?”
Vallon tilted his head slightly.
“W-What?”
“I said, what about me?”
Leticia hesitated, unsure how to answer. She looked Vallon up and down.
What exactly could she call him? He was someone who existed in a complicated, undefined relationship with her.
Somehow, she ended up deeply entangled with him, but she had no intention of considering him part of her life.
