How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 70
“Vallon? Hmm… I don’t remember him,” Richelle replied.
Even though the Kattravan Duchy was immensely wealthy, they wouldn’t have had any interaction with lower-ranking nobles like Richelle, let alone someone like Leticia, who wasn’t even a noble.
Richelle and Leticia had been close friends for a long time, but as far as she knew, Leticia had no prior connection with Vallon.
“I need to find a way to get rid of Vallon.”
“But how?”
“I don’t know,” Leticia said, frustrated.
It was maddening. Neither Leticia nor Richelle had any magic of their own. How could they possibly shake off someone like Vallon?
“First, we need to find his weakness.”
“Do you think that crazy guy would ever reveal his weakness?”
“No, we have to find it ourselves. Please, help me, Richelle.”
Leticia hated to even think about it, but part of her wished Vallon would shift his attention to someone else. While it was obvious that whoever it was would suffer under Vallon’s torment, it seemed like the only surefire way for Leticia to break free.
“So, what should we do first?” Richelle asked, her face full of determination.
What should they do first? Leticia had thought about finding Vallon’s weakness, but the task felt overwhelming. If the Kattravan family was deliberately keeping his powers a secret, how could they possibly uncover it?
“First… let’s start by looking through some books.”
Maybe there was something in old texts that would shed light on powers similar to Vallon’s. Arvata Academy’s library was vast and filled with countless books, one of which might hold the information they needed.
Together, the two headed for the library. Of course, they were careful to make sure Vallon wasn’t following them.
The quiet library was filled with the sound of pages turning. The air inside was damp and cool, like a cave, perhaps because it was about to rain.
Richelle closed the book she was reading with a thud and rubbed her stiff neck. After sitting still for hours reading, her whole body was aching.
“Ugh, Leticia, I have no idea where or how to even start looking…”
Richelle was the first to grow tired. No matter how many books they went through, they couldn’t find anything that matched the powers Leticia had described.
At this point, just looking at the letters was making her feel nauseous.
Her eyes were so dry and strained from focusing for so long that her vision was starting to blur.
Eventually, she was so tired that she began to nod off, her head drooping forward. Outside, the sky was covered with dark clouds, and heavy rain began to beat against the windows with a steady patter.
“Maybe we should call it a day? There’s no way we can get through all these books in one night.”
But Leticia didn’t seem to be tiring at all. She was so engrossed that it was as if she was about to dive right into the pages of the book.
Not hearing Richelle, Leticia continued to scan the text, her focus unbroken.
“Leticia?”
Only then did Leticia look up from her book. She had been so absorbed that she had no idea how much time had passed.
“Oh, Richelle.”
“Let’s head back for today.”
“If you’re tired, you can go ahead. I’m going to keep reading for a little longer.”
Leticia was in a hurry. If there was any chance she could escape Vallon faster, she was willing to stay up for a week without sleep.
Besides, she had no idea when Vallon would catch on, so she needed to gather as much information as she could while he remained unaware.
“Hmm…”
Richelle glanced out at the dark, rainy sky and looked around the nearly empty library. She frowned.
“No, I’ll stay. I don’t want to leave you here alone.”
The eerie atmosphere, combined with the rain, made Richelle uncomfortable about leaving Leticia by herself. When she recalled the seriousness on Leticia’s face earlier, she knew her words weren’t just idle talk.
Knowing how desperate Leticia was, Richelle couldn’t bring herself to leave. After all, she was Leticia’s closest friend.
If anyone had to help Leticia, it should be her.
Richelle hoped that Leticia would soon escape the shadow of Vallon. Leticia seemed so fragile, as though she might crumble with the slightest push, like a sandcastle.
“Let’s keep looking together.”
Richelle sat back down and began reading again.
But how much time had passed? Despite her determination, Richelle soon found herself nodding off again.
Her head finally slumped forward, and she fell into a deep sleep, even drooling a bit in her peaceful slumber.
Sliiiiide. CRASH!
Richelle’s eyebrows twitched as if she sensed something. A dark shadow slithered toward her feet, creeping up the chair.
It grabbed a handful of her hair and yanked it backward with force, causing the chair to tip over with a loud crash.
