How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 71
“Ah!”
“Richelle?”
Startled, Leticia turned her head to see Richelle lying on the floor, clutching her head as she groaned in pain.
“Ugh… Leticia…”
It felt like her head was going to explode from the force of the fall. The world around her spun uncontrollably.
“S…Something pulled my hair.”
“What?”
“I must’ve had sleep paralysis. Maybe it’s from reading a book I wasn’t used to.”
Richelle laughed awkwardly, brushing it off as a case of sleep paralysis, but Leticia’s thoughts were different.
Something pulled her hair? It probably wasn’t sleep paralysis. Leticia no longer believed in wishful thinking. No strange occurrence like this could just happen randomly.
It was always Vallon.
‘That bastard…’
It was clear he had reached out to Richelle as well. What had Richelle ever done to deserve this? But how did he know? Was he secretly watching them from somewhere?
Leticia bit her lower lip hard and spoke with a serious expression.
“Richelle, let’s go back.”
“Huh? Have you seen enough?”
“Yeah. I think it’s best if we stop for today.”
Leticia closed her book with a firm gesture and stood up, pulling Richelle with her.
“Richelle, if anything strange happens to you from now on, promise me you’ll tell me immediately.”
As soon as she said it, Leticia regretted dragging Richelle into this. If this was indeed Vallon’s doing, he wouldn’t leave Richelle alone for helping her. And Vallon might already know everything they were trying to do.
This could just be a warning…
The thought made Leticia’s heart sink.
“And from now on, I should do this alone.”
“What? We’ll find answers faster if we search together!”
“No.”
Leticia’s tone became more resolute.
She hadn’t expected Vallon to catch on so quickly, nor had she considered the risk Richelle would be in. The fear of what that twisted man might do to Richelle terrified her.
The rusty, screeching sound of the old library door being opened pierced their ears, sending a chill down Leticia’s spine.
“Ah!”
“Ugh…!”
Leticia and Richelle were about to leave the library when they froze upon seeing who was standing outside the door.
“Ah… Vallon? Wh-what are you doing here?”
Richelle, still unfamiliar with Vallon’s new appearance and unnerved by what Leticia had told her, felt uneasy.
The perfectly sculpted face hidden beneath his former mess of hair was almost too beautiful, breathtakingly so. But it was also cold and dangerously sharp, exuding an overwhelming presence that was hard to ignore.
‘He is handsome… there’s an air of nobility about him.’
Vallon curved his lips into a smile.
“I needed a book from the library. What are you two doing here?”
“We were just looking something up.”
“What is it?”
There was something unsettling in the way he spoke. Richelle felt a chill at the sharp gaze Vallon shot their way, as if he already knew everything. Feeling awkward, Richelle forced a laugh.
“It’s nothing you need to know. It’s a secret between girls!”
“A secret?”
Vallon repeated the word “secret” as if he were tasting it, his eyes turning even colder. His once-smiling face hardened as his gaze locked onto the hands where Leticia had been holding Richelle’s.
Feeling his relentless focus, Leticia let go of Richelle’s hand. Vallon’s expression hinted at his displeasure, with his eyebrows raising slightly in irritation. There was no telling what he might do when upset, so Leticia kept a close eye on him.
“You said you had a headache earlier, didn’t you? That’s why you wouldn’t spend time with me.”
“…”
“It hurts to think… that you’d rather be with someone else than with me…”
When Vallon’s crimson eyes shifted to Richelle, an alarm rang in Leticia’s head. Richelle was in danger.
“It’s not like that. My head really hurt earlier!”
Leticia knew what answer Vallon wanted, even though he hadn’t explicitly said it. The unspoken pressure was all too clear now.
“Richelle, you should go. I have something to talk about with Vallon, something I promised him earlier…”
Richelle frowned, her arm linked with Leticia’s, and whispered softly.
“Leticia, what’s going on? Are you sure you had plans with Vallon? If I leave, isn’t he going to do something weird? Look at his eyes, there’s something off about him.”
“It’s fine. Nothing will happen.”
As long as she didn’t provoke him, that is.
Leticia gently pushed Richelle away, signaling that she should leave. Reluctantly, Richelle had no choice but to walk away, casting worried glances over her shoulder.
The hallway fell silent, leaving just Vallon and Leticia alone.
“You knew, didn’t you?”
Leticia was certain now.
