How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 8
“I see. So it’s true, then. There’s no way Vallon could have pushed Eric. That’s a relief. If Vallon didn’t push him, then I think we’re done here.”
With that, Vallon and the man next to him stood up.
“Yes. I’m glad the matter is resolved. Please make sure that no strange rumors start circulating about the young master.”
The man responded dryly, handing a white envelope to the professor.
Then, he firmly put the matter to rest.
“Young Master Vallon has nothing to do with this incident. His Grace the Duke of Kattravan wishes for him to graduate from Arvata Academy without any disturbances.”
“Yes, of course. Don’t worry, he’ll graduate without any issues.”
After the two men left, Leticia, who remained with the professor, asked with a worried expression.
“What happened to Eric?”
“He passed the critical stage, but his head injury was severe, and now he’s unable to speak…”
“My goodness…”
Leticia frowned as she recalled the image of Eric’s head bleeding profusely. It was a relief that his life wasn’t in danger, but it was still shocking that Eric, who had been perfectly fine, had ended up in such a state overnight. It really drove home the point that accidents come without warning.
She didn’t feel good about it.
It felt like… if Eric hadn’t been standing in front of her, this wouldn’t have happened.
Leticia left the counseling room with a heavy expression.
She glanced around, checking if Vallon might be nearby, and after confirming that no one was around, she continued walking.
Then, as she turned the corner at the end of the hallway—
“Ah…”
Vallon, whom she had hoped to avoid, was standing right in front of her.
Now that he was directly in her path, ignoring him and walking past felt awkward. The man who had been with him earlier was gone, leaving Vallon alone.
“V-Vallon? What are you doing here?”
Did he block her path because he had something to say? Leticia’s eyes darted nervously as she looked at Vallon, whose breathing seemed unusually heavy, despite not having run. He seemed excited for some reason.
There was nothing around him that could explain his labored breathing. And what was this strange, salty smell?
Leticia frowned.
Was it because of Vallon’s disturbing behavior earlier, stepping on Eric’s fingers? She didn’t want to be alone with him like this.
“If you don’t have anything to say, I’ll just go first.”
“This, it’s yours, right?”
“Huh? My necklace…!”
What Vallon held out was the birthstone necklace she had received from her parents as a birthday gift last year. Leticia hastily touched her neck and realized her necklace was missing.
“Take it.”
When had it fallen off? More importantly, how did Vallon know it was hers?
“How did you know this was mine?”
“I saw it that day.”
Ah, that day.
She knew immediately he was referring to the day Ribolt and his gang had beaten him up. Since he had been close by, it made sense that Vallon could have seen the necklace around her neck.
As she reached for the necklace, her hand brushed against his, and it felt like his hand was burning hot. As she got closer to him, she could feel the heat radiating from him.
Had he been running? Why was he radiating so much heat?
His pale cheeks, hidden behind his glasses, were unnaturally flushed, as if he were excited. Leticia took the necklace from him with as little contact as possible, not wanting to touch him. But when she looked at the necklace, she noticed a sticky, mucus-like substance on the pendant.
‘What is this?’
As Leticia examined the necklace, holding it in her hand and inspecting the sticky substance, Vallon smirked.
“Why? Is there something wrong?”
There was nothing wrong with the necklace itself.
But she couldn’t figure out what this sticky substance was. Leticia brought the necklace closer to her nose and sniffed it. It smelled sour… or maybe it was just the lingering salty smell from the hallway.
“Heh…”
Vallon covered his mouth with his hand, trying to suppress his laughter, but it was clear he was amused. It was an unsettling laugh.
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing.”
“Do you know what this stuff on my necklace is?”
“No, I don’t. It was like that when I found it.”
His answer didn’t sit well with her, but if he said it was like that when he picked it up, there wasn’t much she could do.
“…I see. Well, it’s an important necklace, so thank you for finding it.”
Not wanting to engage with him any longer, Leticia tried to walk past Vallon after receiving the necklace.
“Are you going to visit him?”
“What?”
Visit? Who was he talking about? Ribolt? Or Eric? Two people in her circle had been seriously injured and left the academy in the past few weeks.
Then she remembered the conversation she had had with Richelle earlier that day, which Vallon might have overheard. But Vallon had been far away at the time—how could he have heard their conversation?
“Visit who? Eric?”
“…”
“Ribolt?”
“It’s best if you don’t go.”
Vallon muttered cryptically and walked past her. Why was he telling her not to visit? Leticia’s gaze followed the trail of sticky marks left where Vallon had walked.
The source of the salty smell was clearly from whatever that was. But she had no desire to investigate further.
