How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 88

Leticia absentmindedly twirled the pen in her hand, staring blankly out the window. It wasn’t because there was anything special to see outside, but simply because she needed a place to fix her gaze. Lately, she found herself zoning out like this more and more often.
“Leticia! What are you thinking about so deeply?”
Richelle tapped Leticia’s shoulder, snapping her out of her thoughts. As she looked around, she realized the classroom was already empty.
“Oh, Richelle. Class is over already?”
“Where’s your head at? Class ended a while ago!”
Leticia’s gaze drifted to Richelle’s red hair. Who had been outside her room that day? And why hadn’t they shown themselves since then? Perhaps they were hiding, laughing at her as she felt more isolated.
Rather than torment her like this, Leticia wished they would just confront her directly.
“Red hair… Could it really be Richelle?”
“Why? Is there something in my hair?”
“…No.”
“You’ve been acting strange lately. If something’s bothering you, promise you’ll tell me first, okay? I’m your friend!”
Leticia stood up, slinging her bag over her shoulder with a smile. Richelle was the last friend she had left. The thought of suspecting Richelle over that strange letter was unthinkable.
“Got it. Let’s head out.”
They had planned to work on their assignments together in Richelle’s room that day. Once they arrived, Leticia collapsed onto the bed with a deep sigh.
As Leticia looked around the room, decorated in Richelle’s usual cute and meticulous style, memories flooded her mind. Before getting involved with Vallon, she and Richelle used to hang out here without a care, laughing and chatting.
Could she ever return to those days?
“How’s school life going lately?” Richelle asked, her back turned as she pulled books from her bag and placed them on the desk.
Leticia’s eyes followed the books piling up on the desk.
“Um, you know… same as usual.”
“Did you figure out what you wanted to know?”
“Huh?”
“You know, about Vallon. You said you thought he had some strange power.”
Oh, right, I did.
But Leticia had decided not to involve Richelle further. She didn’t want to put her in danger. To keep Richelle safe, she couldn’t let her get tangled up with Vallon.
“Oh, that? Don’t worry about it. I think I’m close to solving it.”
“Really? That’s a relief.”
As Richelle resumed organizing her books, something fell out from between them. She casually picked it up and slipped it back between the pages, but Leticia had already seen it.
It was a black envelope, just like the one left at her dorm room door.
‘Why does Richelle have that?’
Anyone could have a paper envelope, but the one outside her door wasn’t a typical envelope.
From a distance, it was hard to be sure if it was the same.
“Anyway, about Vallon…” Richelle started.
“Huh? What about him?”
Leticia, who had been fixated on the envelope, shook her head sharply, trying to push away the suspicions forming in her mind.
“How did he manage to hide that handsome face all this time? I mean, sure, he’s a bit scary, but with his family background and his looks… I’m so jealous, Leticia. Vallon’s probably the most impressive guy in the academy now. It’s like the glorious comeback of the outcast Vallon. I should’ve been nicer to him.”
Richelle pouted her lips in regret.
“What? What are you jealous of?”
“You knew, didn’t you? You should’ve given me a hint. I had no idea and ended up bad-mouthing him.”
“You’re talking about Vallon, right?”
For a moment, Leticia wondered if Richelle was talking about someone else.
How could she say such things? Didn’t she see everything Vallon had done to me?
Hadn’t Richelle agreed with her that Vallon was dangerous and told her to stay away from him? And now, she was suddenly envious of Leticia just because Vallon’s appearance had changed?
“The future Duke of Kattravan can’t live without you. I’m so jealous.”
Richelle’s eyes swept over Leticia as she lay on the bed. There was no trace of laughter in Richelle’s gaze—it was cold. Her eyes lingered briefly on Leticia’s pale, bare legs, and a faint wrinkle formed at the corner of her eyes.
In Richelle’s black eyes, for just a moment, a flicker of something like contempt passed through.
“Richelle, how can you say something so awful? How could you even think that? Because of Vallon, Ribolt and Kyle were hurt, and who knows how many others!”
“How’d you manage to seduce him? Was it with your body?”
“What?”
The air in the room suddenly chilled with Richelle’s question. A heavy silence hung between them.
