How to Escape from the Yandere’s Crazy Obsession - Chapter 9
Unexpected incidents occurring in succession led to strange rumors spreading throughout the academy. Rumors that there was a dark mage among the students, or that Vallon had cursed those who bullied him. All sorts of rumors were circulating.
As always, people loved sensational gossip, and the rumors spread as if they were true. Because of this, no one dared wander the academy after sunset these days.
Leticia didn’t believe all the rumors, but for some reason, she also felt uneasy about going out after dark. More than anything, she didn’t want to run into Vallon, who was at the center of these rumors.
However, as if fate were playing tricks on her, she started running into him more often since they shared many of the same classes.
Today, for some reason, she woke up early. Leticia, starting her morning earlier than usual, headed to the classroom with a refreshed feeling.
Walking through the empty streets, breathing in the crisp morning air, it felt like the bright sunlight just beginning to rise and the deserted streets all belonged to her.
“Mmm, I feel good.”
Part of the reason she had come out early was to enjoy walking through the empty streets like this. The lingering unease that had been hanging over her felt like it was being washed away by the cool air.
Step, step. As she entered the building, the sound of her footsteps echoed through the empty hallway. The inside of the building was a bit cooler than outside.
“Huh?”
She opened her locker to grab the necessary textbooks and was startled.
“What… is this?”
Inside was a small box she had never placed there. It was quite heavy, and when she shook it, it made a dull sound.
Looking around, it seemed no one had arrived yet. Who could have put it there?
“This popularity of mine… It’s probably another love letter and gift.”
Since many people had used her personal locker to express their feelings before, Leticia didn’t think much of it and opened the box.
Who confessed this time?
“KYAAHH!”
However, instead of a love letter or gift, a headless mouse lay inside the box. Shocked, Leticia dropped the box and collapsed to the floor.
Who could have done such a horrible thing?
A stiff, headless mouse carcass was lying on the ground in front of Leticia’s eyes. The gruesome sight left her frozen, unable to move.
Tears welled up in her wide eyes and soon began to stream down her face.
“Sniff… hiic.”
She was so scared that she couldn’t stop crying. What could be the reason for doing something so cruel? Was it to scare her? But why?
She needed to get up, but her legs refused to move.
“Some… someone, please help.”
Why did this have to happen on the day she came early? No matter how much she looked around, there was no one to help.
Just then, she heard footsteps at the end of the hallway. Leticia thought that perhaps someone, like her, had come to the classroom early.
At that moment, as if a savior had appeared, she looked back with relief.
“Who…?”
The person standing there quietly, watching her as she sat on the floor, was Vallon. Out of all the people, why did it have to be Vallon?
Leticia couldn’t hide her disappointment.
“Oh… V-Vallon?”
Despite the uneasy feeling, she was relieved that someone had shown up and looked at Vallon. As usual, his eyes were completely covered, giving him an oppressive appearance.
If he had come out this early, surely he would have had enough time to fix his appearance. Why did he always walk around like that?
Still, it was better than being alone.
“Can you help me?”
At that moment, Leticia thought it was a good thing she hadn’t ignored him. If she had, she wouldn’t have been able to ask him for help now.
Without a word, Vallon approached and looked at the headless mouse carcass lying in front of her.
“How awful.”
With a calm expression, he dealt with the decapitated mouse. Vallon showed no hesitation, as if he wasn’t afraid at all.
Even though the dead mouse was now gone, her tears and trembling didn’t stop. Leticia was in a state of panic, unable to regain her composure.
“Hiic…”
“It’s okay now. Leticia, I took care of it.”
Vallon hugged Leticia tightly as she trembled. His hands were very cold, as if he had been outside for a long time.
If she had been in her right mind, she would never have allowed herself to be held by him. But, unfortunately, she wasn’t in her right mind at the moment. Leticia, seeking comfort, buried herself in Vallon’s arms, despite having found him unsettling earlier.
“Don’t cry.”
Vallon slowly stroked Leticia’s back, reassuring her that everything was fine. But when she couldn’t see, Vallon’s lips curled into a smile.
He liked the feeling of her soft body wrapped around him. Vallon tightened his grip on Leticia, holding her even closer. For quite some time, she continued to sob in Vallon’s arms.
