How to Tame That Gentle Male Lead - Chapter 2.7
Phew. Resena let out a sigh of relief.
“Then let’s taste what Lady Lorona will drink.”
“Okay.”
As they moved to where the 20-year-old Retro that Lorona would drink was located, they encountered a maid who was about to take a bottle.
“Wait a moment. Are you going to use that bottle right away?”
“Yes, Miss. It’s for tomorrow’s birthday ball.”
Resena held out her hand.
“We’d like to taste that first. It’s also what Lady Lorona Weiz will drink, right?”
“Yes, that’s correct. The other bottles besides this one will be for all the other guests to drink as well.”
At that, she wiggled her finger.
“Let’s just have one glass to taste. Renard. Give me the glass.”
“Alright.”
They watched as the maid poured the wine. A strong floral scent wafted from the wine, making it clear why everyone sought this wine.
“Hmm.”
However, Renard’s expression wasn’t good after drinking the wine. Quick-witted, Resena asked for the wine bottle and told the maid to replace this type of wine with another. The maid looked puzzled but obeyed the order.
“Was there a drug in it?”
“Yes. Quite a lot, it seems. My aura is moving to purify it.”
Sigh. It seemed this wine hadn’t been retrieved. She clearly said to cancel it. After mentally cursing that incompetent Guild Master, Resena rubbed Renard’s back.
“Are you okay? It could be a strong aphrodisiac.”
“Yeah. But it’s not a poison that would work on me, so I’m fine. However, if Lady Lorona Weiz had drunk this wine, she would have likely collapsed on the spot.”
‘And originally, I would have denied putting poison in this wine…’
But in reality, doing so would only bring Eldis and Lorona closer. Eldis would drink the wine to know what poison Lorona had consumed, carry Lorona in his arms to the lounge, and wait for her to wake up after calling a doctor.
“Ah… What a waste of good wine.”
“I agree.”
They looked at each other’s faces and soon both smiled.
“Still, it’s fortunate we discovered the poison in advance, right?”
“Yes. Even though you canceled it, sis, it’s fortunate we came here early to prevent any possible incidents. I want you to enjoy the ball in a good mood.”
“Renard…”
He was truly a well-grown little brother. Resena reached out to pat Renard’s head, but he blushed.
“Somehow, I feel like a child. But it’s not bad.”
“Alright, alright. Then I’ll pat your back.”
“Okay.”
As she patted his back and tapped his arm, she could feel his quite solid physique. Resena removed her hand and turned to ask the maid which of the other 20-year-old wines they would replace it with.
Then they went to where that wine was for a final check.
“This one shouldn’t have poison in it… Let’s have a taste.”
“Okay.”
This time, Resena drank too. The wine, with its rich chocolate aroma and oak barrel scent, was so good that even Resena wanted some snacks to go with it after two glasses. Renard also picked up a glass and exclaimed.
“This is… really delicious. It’s the same 20 years old, but it’s much better than before.”
“Yes. It might be because there’s no drug in it, but I think this taste will be less divisive.”
“You’re right. Really. I’ll have another glass.”
Chuckling, Resena poured wine into her brother’s glass. The tangy aroma rising into the air stimulated their noses. Enjoying the scent of raspberry as they drank the wine, the two made eye contact.
“Ah. It’s delicious. I want to drink more, but we should wait until tomorrow, right?”
“Let’s just finish a whole bottle now. And then we can tell them to bring the rest. We have 40 bottles after all.”
At that, Renard grinned.
“Alright, sis. Let’s have our tea time with this today.”
“Hehe. Okay! Then I should ask them to bring some snacks. I think it would taste even better with beef jerky sprinkled with cheese powder.”
With that, the two left the wine cellar, carrying the wine.
After glancing at the brightly decorated hall of the mansion for the birthday ball, they sat under the gazebo. Leaning on the cushion, Resena held out her glass as she watched Renard pour the wine.
With each pour, the aroma of chocolate and raspberry danced in the air. The taste naturally stimulated the appetite, and Resena reached for the snacks brought by the maid.
“Ah, it’s so delicious. I want to open another bottle.”
“Shall we? I want to pour another bottle too.”
After emptying one bottle of wine, it felt too regrettable. Resena tried drinking tea, but it couldn’t satisfy her craving for wine. Eventually, she called a maid and ordered her to bring more of the 20-year-old Dessant Platy.
“Ah, it’s so delicious. Really delicious… I, I want to drink this wine for myself.”
“Okay. Let’s do that. I’ll only drink this too.”
Raising her glass for a toast, Resena carefully sipped the wine.
Renard also slowly drank the wine.
As they poured and drank to their heart’s content, the sunset was ripening on the horizon. Looking at the sun hanging on the horizon, Resena felt a slight intoxication as she put the last glass to her lips.
“Ah… I don’t think I can eat dinner. I’m so full.”
“Me too…”
“I’m happy…”
As Resena squeezed and released the cushion, she recalled her past life that had led to destruction. Remembering the times when she had hidden in the mansion with Alken, trying to gather allies to somehow stop the Crown Prince, tears welled up involuntarily.
“Huh? Sis, are you crying?”
“No… Just some sad memories came to mind without me realizing it. Hehe. I guess I’m getting emotional when drunk too.”
Renard shook his head.
“Your level isn’t even close to being emotional when drunk. If you knew how the guys under my command change when they’re drunk, you’d think your emotional state is just like a cat being affectionate.”
“Ahaha.”
Laughing loudly, Resena laid down sideways, using the cushion as a pillow. Seeing this, Renard also slumped over the table. Feeling the slight intoxication, Resena thought quietly.
“Renard.”
“Yes, sis.”
“Crown Prince Eldis… What kind of person does he seem to you? He’s kind to everyone except me. Well, I’ve caused so many incidents related to him, so he’s unkind to me.”
Renard raised his head as he replied.
“He is kind… And seeing how he’s gentle to everyone, it seems like his nature. But when he gives orders or works, he’s strict…”
“A male protagonist who has it all, huh.”
“Hahaha. That seems right. He’s like the male protagonist of a novel.”
Renard laughed like that and then slumped over the table again. Resena closed her mouth and pondered what words she should use to start tomorrow when she met the male lead.
‘Though I know what to say, I can’t start with that right away… How can I make the male lead love the female lead less?’
I’ve canceled all the events where I appear as the villain, but…
‘No matter how much I worry, when villains appear, it only brings the female and male lead closer. So I have to stop the villains before they mess things up.’
Then…
“Ah, I don’t know. Tomorrow’s me will figure it out…”
Resena fell asleep using the cushion as a pillow.
In her dream, her old family members appeared demanding money, causing her to wake up slightly with cold sweat, but soon she sank back into sleep, drunk until night.
