How to Tame That Gentle Male Lead - Chapter 3.3
“Well… That’s not quite it. They have owners, but the auction house we’re going to is exhibiting that artist’s works. Want to see them together?”
“Sure!”
Resena put down her glass.
“Then I’ll go wash up and come right out. See you at the entrance.”
“Okay! Got it!”
After watching Renard enter the mansion, Resena looked down at herself. Her outfit was fine, and she was wearing comfortable shoes, so it seemed okay to leave right away.
‘It’ll take some time for Renard to come out, so…’
She opened the shoe design book that Del had brought. Designer Mores had an excellent talent for shoes and clothing, so even just choosing was truly enjoyable.
“Del. Please put in a production request for the shoes on this page. If possible, ask them to put a blue rose between the toe and the middle of the shoe. And tell them not to make the heel too high. These days, I can’t wear them if my feet are even slightly uncomfortable.”
“Understood, Young Miss.”
“Phew… It’s about time for Renard to come out.”
Resena walked to the entrance. Just then, Renard was coming out as well.
A pre-prepared carriage waited for them.
Resena, who got into the carriage with her younger brother’s escort, looked him over as he took up half the carriage. The neat dress shirt with a cravat, and the justaucorps worn as an overcoat made Renard look like a high-ranking nobleman.
“You’ve grown quite big too.”
“Yes. I’m one of the larger-built knights. But His Highness the Crown Prince has an even better physique than me.”
That was certainly true. The phrase ‘shoulders as wide as the Pacific’ would definitely refer to him.
‘Even in terms of physical conditions, the male lead is truly the male lead.’
Resena gazed out the window, lost in thought for a moment. Renard, observing his silent sister, also turned his gaze to the window.
The weather was bright and the wind was cool. Though the sunlight was slightly warm, it made people’s attire lighter. Occasionally, though rare, workers with rolled-up sleeves could be seen.
“Renard.”
“Yes?”
“Say, would you help me out at the summer ball?”
He leaned forward with a serious expression.
“Sis. Is it something that needs to be canceled or dealt with like the Tebas Guild matter?”
“Well… I received a letter.”
“Okay.”
Resena decided to disguise future events as information from a letter. It would be easier for Renard to accept that way.
“I got a tip that a black magician will appear at the summer ball and harm people.”
“A black magician?”
He frowned visibly.
Black magicians, the main enemy of the entire continent, were also at odds with the whole empire. Unlike priests who used holy power for protection and defense-like abilities, black magic, which gained offensive power by sacrificing people or animals, required an enormous number of sacrifices, so the empire had issued an order to exterminate them.
Moreover, every time they went to the battlefield to deal with monster waves, they occasionally encountered black magicians, so Sword Masters gnashed their teeth at the mere sight of them.
“Of course, I can help. But how did you get this tip? Wouldn’t it be easier to catch them if you wrote a letter to His Highness the Crown Prince?”
“If I wrote to His Highness, there’s a high chance it would be filtered out as a prank letter. Besides, the letter might not even be delivered properly. It would likely be ignored unless it’s from a high-ranking noble.”
Renard thought for a moment and then nodded.
“You’re right, sis. So, what do you plan to do with this information?”
“Obviously, that black magician will scatter black mana, so I plan to tell people to get treatment from priests immediately. That’s all I can do alone. But if you help, you might be able to confront the black magician… Wouldn’t that reduce the number of people hit by black mana?”
“Hmm…”
As Renard stared intently at her face, Resena felt somewhat embarrassed.
