“His Highness the Crown Prince is expected to arrive soon.”
Resena, who had been sitting in the drawing room since morning, all dressed up, stood up.
Her neck was covered with pure white lace, and from her chest down, she was wrapped in deep ivory satin. With pink lipstick applied, her makeup matched fantastically, and she was very satisfied with what she saw reflected in the mirror.
‘Should I show this appearance to Vernas too?’
She laughed quietly, imagining the wide-eyed looks of the children surrounding him. Seeing the young lady beautifully curving her eyes while covering her mouth, the head maid Luna unconsciously flinched.
‘No. There’s no need to be afraid. The young lady now is different from before.’
The young lady, who no longer beat or verbally abused the maids, felt like a different person, but Luna soon shook off her fear because the current young lady was kind to them.
“He’s arriving right on time.”
“It seems so. As expected of the meticulous Crown Prince.”
Resena and Luna briefly exchanged words as they watched the splendid carriage pass through the main gate 5 minutes before noon. The carriage stopped in front of the entrance right at 12 o’clock.
“Good afternoon, Lady.”
Eldis’s youthful voice refreshingly filled her ears. Resena thought she had heard a similar voice somewhere before, but dismissed it as her imagination. This voice was rare, with a unique resonance that was both clear and refreshing, even among the millions of imperial citizens.
“Welcome, Your Highness the Crown Prince.”
Eldis smiled brightly as he saw Resena lifting the hem of her dress in a courteous greeting. Then he extended his hand to her. As Resena also reached out, he gently grasped her delicate hand and lightly kissed the back of it.
Although Resena was slightly nervous, Eldis showed no signs of tension. With a gentle smile, Eldis presented her with a bouquet of red roses he had been hiding behind his back.
“Thank you, Your Highness. I’ll place it in my bedroom.”
As she held the bouquet and inhaled its fragrance, the rich scent of roses tickled her nostrils. It was a slightly unique scent that she hadn’t experienced even in the Arnasus household, where roses were planted in the garden, but that seemed to make her feel even more at ease.
“Luna. Take this and place it in my bedroom.”
“Yes, my lady.”
As Resena turned back to Eldis, he approached her closely, giving her an affectionate look.
“I’ve missed you, Lady. It feels like a dream to be able to go on a date like this together.”
“You honor me with your words. The pleasure is all mine.”
At this, his refreshing voice broke into laughter.
“Haha. You really seem different from before, Lady. Your advice and counsel are unique, but… even the way you speak with me has changed. Do you know that makes you even more captivating to me?”
Resena’s face flushed slightly at the blatant seduction. Between his gently curved silver eyelashes, his blue eyes, reminiscent of a summer sea, focused solely on her.
Surely, anyone would feel their heart race if someone with this beauty said such things.
Resena unconsciously thought of Vernas and tried to calm her rapidly beating heart.
But before her heart could settle, Eldis took Resena’s hand and escorted her to the carriage.
To be alone with him in the carriage.
As Eldis sat down facing her, her heart ached unbearably. His beautiful visage was clearly reflected in her view. Because of this, Resena couldn’t quite look at Eldis’s face and focused only on his lips.
‘They really are beautiful lips…’
The alluring shape of his lips, which somehow made her think of deep kisses, made Resena desperately raise her gaze bit by bit.
Finding Resena’s behavior cute, Eldis felt like bursting into laughter but covered his mouth and smiled languidly.
“Hehe. Today, I plan to take you to places I think you’ll like. And after dinner, we’ll go see an opera together.”
“An opera? Then…”
“Don’t worry. I’ll have you back before ten o’clock. Why? Do you have some urgent business?”
Resena recalled her promise to Vernas, but she couldn’t ignore the effort Eldis had put into planning their date. So, feeling nothing but guilty, she lied.
“No, it’s fine. But I was hoping to return to the mansion by nine o’clock… Could we see the opera a bit earlier?”
“Then let’s skip the walk after dinner and go straight to the opera. It’s a short piece, so it should end in an hour and a half.”
“Thank you, Your Highness.”
At this, Eldis made a bitter face and lowered his head.
As his beautiful and neat face drew closer, Resena held her breath.
“Call me Eldis, Lady. I’ll call you Resena too.”
“But how could I dare to…”
“There’s no need to keep calling me Your Highness when it’s just the two of us. I want to hear you call me Eldis.”
He was close enough that she could feel his breath.
With reddening eyes, Resena instinctively pressed her hands against Eldis’s solid chest. She could clearly feel the elastic sensation at her fingertips. Yielding easily to her weak force, Eldis curved his eyes brightly.
“…Eldis.”
“Yes, Resena.”
Eldis smiled softly as he raised his head. Only then could Resena breathe a sigh of relief. Eldis found it amusing how she unconsciously brought her hand to her chest, and he took in every detail with his blue eyes.
“Resena. Shall we depart then?”
“Yes. …Eldis.”
Of course, calling him Your Highness outside would draw attention.
Resena took a deep breath, trying to remain calm and pretend not to understand Eldis’s feelings. But as if not wanting to give her such a chance, Eldis took Resena’s hand and pressed his lips intimately to her fingertips once again.
“I’ve always wanted to go on a date like this with you. I heard from the Duke and Duchess of Arnasus, but I wanted to see with my own eyes what you like.”
“Your High…”
“Eldis. You should call me Eldis, Resena.”
“Eldis.”
“Yes, Resena. Please call me that.”
Eldis slowly released her hand and whispered in a gentle voice.
“Because I think seeing what you like will calm my heart. I want to see you smile during our date. Just imagining how beautiful it will be makes me happy. Moreover, when you’re doing what you want, you’ll look at me, won’t you? I wish to capture and never let go of that gaze of yours.”
“Eldis…”
“Hehe. Was I too blatant? Anyway, I’m truly happy to be on our first date together, Resena. I look forward to today, okay?”
His final words, carried on his breath, caressed her ear with a seductive touch. Resena’s face flushed hot as she averted her gaze downward.
Seeing her purse her lips demurely, Eldis smiled as purely as a hydrangea blooming by the water.
“Well then, first…”
