How to Tame That Gentle Male Lead - Chapter 6.3
As he was wearing a robe, he looked even larger than Eldis, but if he took it off, he would probably be similar to Eldis. Resena felt her throat becoming dry and fanned herself.
‘I hope it stays like this… Even if Eldis ends up returning to the female lead as in the original story, let’s prevent the situation where his close friends are killed one by one to stop the world from being destroyed. That’s the best course of action.’
So that even if he loses the female lead, he won’t give up on the world.
So that this kind person won’t be too consumed by the pain of losing a lover.
“Huh…?”
It was when she was getting out of the carriage with Eldis’s escort.
She saw Lorona entering the opera house with the holy knight Ian Fullecher. Although she knew that the temple that revered and served Lorona as a saint was corrupt, Resena still acknowledged Lorona’s determination to do her best for everyone.
That’s why she felt puzzled.
Why on earth was Lorona, so unlike a saint, coming to the theater to enjoy entertainment?
“What is it, Resena?”
When Eldis asked kindly, Resena snapped back to reality. Feeling the urge to follow Lorona due to her uncharacteristic behavior, Resena spoke honestly.
“Well… Lady Lorona Weiz is a saint, isn’t she?”
Eldis nodded gently.
“And?”
“I’m just curious why Lady Weiz has come to the opera house. To come to the opera house with Sir Fullecher, it’s almost like a date…”
Oops.
Resena covered her mouth, surprised at her own words.
If one were to purely see Lorona as a woman and Ian Fullecher as a man, it would indeed be a date. The corrupt light priests, barely maintaining their lineage with healing abilities, would have no qualms about a forbidden romance with a holy knight.
‘But… Lorona originally loved Eldis, didn’t she?’
Even in “The Name of Love,” Lorona never looked at other men. No matter how kindly the holy knight Ian treated her, after dancing with Eldis once at the summer ball, she drew a line with him.
‘But at this ball, I danced with Eldis.’
The original story had twisted.
Resena suddenly felt dizzy realizing that she had taken a step towards breaking up the male and female lead. Of course, on the date with Eldis, she felt that he was not falling in love with Lorona, but this was the first time she had seen the main characters’ actions change because of her, so she just stared blankly in the direction where Lorona had disappeared.
“Ah…”
“It does look like a date to me too.”
Eldis turned his gentle gaze towards the opera house. But soon he turned back to meet Resena’s eyes. Seeing his reflection in her violet eyes, he made a playful expression.
“But whether Lady Weiz is on a date or not is none of our business. And the prohibition on romance with holy knights has been in place for 500 years. Isn’t it time to change that meaningless unwritten rule?”
“That’s…”
Come to think of it, even if she were to date a holy knight, it wouldn’t damage the saint’s power or the holy knight’s sacred energy. Moreover, it seemed excessively cruel to forbid those who were supposed to live solely for God from experiencing love throughout their lives. So, Eldis was right about this.
‘Even though I’m a modern person, I’ve been influenced by the prejudices of this world.’
Resena felt a bit remorseful. And she suddenly felt that Eldis, who wasn’t bound by outdated unwritten rules, was truly admirable. Of course, while she felt uncomfortable with Lorona, she couldn’t deny Lorona’s significant role in the story.
‘Besides, apart from her excessive self-sacrifice, Lorona isn’t a bad saint. Compared to the corrupt priests who can’t fulfill their duties properly, she’s quite excellent.’
“…”
“Resena. What’s wrong? Did I say something unnecessary?”
Resena shook her head.
“No. I just feel that what Eldis said is right. After all, no matter who Lorona dates, we can’t say anything as long as she fulfills her duties. It’s just… I was surprised because she seemed interested in Eldis before, but now she’s dating Sir Ian Fullecher.”
Eldis chuckled at this.
“Even if someone has feelings for someone, can’t they still go on dates with others? Of course, I only hold one person in my heart at a time, but human relationships aren’t formed by a single line, so there might be unavoidable situations.”
Come to think of it, Resena herself was on a date with Eldis while having feelings for Vernas. And she was enjoying the date with Eldis itself.
Feeling a bit awkward, Resena thanked Eldis.
“Thank you, Eldis. Thanks to you, I won’t have unnecessary thoughts. You’re right. It’s entirely possible in this situation, and it’s not for us to say anything about who Lady Lorona Weiz dates, as it’s her decision.”
Eldis smiled warmly and took Resena’s hand, kissing her fingertips. A seductive color swirled like a tidal wave in his blue eyes.
“I’m the one who should be thankful for you accepting my words so well. I thought you might scold me for not understanding your thoughts, but I’m just delighted that you accepted my words readily and even thanked me.”
“Eldis…”
“You’re honest and sincere. I really like that about you. I hope to continue seeing that. So, after this date ends, may I ask you out on another date?”
A smile slowly spread across Resena’s entire face.
With her eyes curved prettily, Resena looked up at Eldis.
The silent moment when their gazes met made her heart flutter completely.
‘Perhaps…’
Eldis and herself might become even closer.
Though she was drawn to Vernas, she couldn’t suppress her growing feelings for Eldis.
Resena found this fact both unsettling and unbearably pleasant.
While she wasn’t without a guilty conscience, Eldis had been infiltrating her heart with his sun-like radiance. His warm and gentle consideration had been cast upon her. Because of this, she wanted to hold his hand and listen attentively to whatever he had to say.
‘I hope Eldis doesn’t lose the people he loves.’
She didn’t want to see him become desolate as he lost the people he cared about.
‘I wish… I could be of help to him.’
I want to reflect myself more in his elegant eyes.
“Yes. I’d like that. Eldis, please ask me out on more dates.”
At those words, Eldis narrowed his eyes and smiled brightly.
“Then look forward to our next date. Of course, you’ll enjoy the end of this date too. Feel free to have high expectations. I won’t disappoint you.”
“Alright, Eldis. I’ll look forward to it. As much as I can.”
They smiled at each other affectionately.
Resena sincerely wished this moment would last forever.
Because his brilliant smile and the opal-colored eyes between his gently curved eyelids were focused solely on her.
“Shall we go to the restaurant before we get hungry?”
“Yes, that sounds good.”
Resena placed her hand on Eldis’s firm arm. Eldis escorted her while gazing at her with eyes full of sweetness.
Resena realized anew that no matter what he did, he would always consider her feelings.
Even as they approached the entrance of the restaurant.
Even when she learned that this restaurant typically required reservations a year in advance.
She smiled brightly as she received his consideration meant only for her by his side.
It truly was an enjoyable day.
And that thought continued until she returned to the Arnasus residence at nine o’clock at night.

“Vernas?”
Feeling guilty for being so late, she arrived at the canal dock. As she practically tumbled out of the carriage, she saw a man holding a piece of wood under the lonely streetlight.
“Vernas!”
Resena realized that he must have been sitting on the bench for a considerable time waiting for her. Because of this, she ran up to him, and when he raised his head, she gradually slowed down and stood before his eyes.
“Resena.”
The familiar voice that she seemed to have heard somewhere rang in her ears. Resena thought that his voice resembled Eldis’s, but she couldn’t believe they were the same person. The difference in their social status was so enormous that she couldn’t hastily jump to conclusions.
