After the surgery, she had called a priest to somehow save her mother who was dying from acute renal failure. But by then, her mother had no strength left, making the healing by holy power meaningless.

‘And at that time, Lorona was also wandering around the streets and hadn’t returned to the temple, so we couldn’t provide the best treatment.’

But now it’s different.

In her previous life, six months had passed like an arrow, but her mother wasn’t by her side then. But now, her mother was with her family, alive and breathing.

Resena couldn’t suppress the tears that welled up again. As she wiped them with the back of her hand, Lorona offered her a handkerchief, and despite her embarrassment, she used it to wipe away her tears one by one.

“I will never forget this kindness for the rest of my life.”

“No. If you just live in peace and comfort, that’s what I want.”

Resena sobbed endlessly as she felt Lorona’s hand patting her arm.

The emotions welling up inside her taught her again. Although Lorona had an excessive spirit of self-sacrifice compared to others, when she recalled the help she received because of it, she could no longer blame Lorona’s actions, even if she was the cause that made Eldis go berserk.

‘Rather, I feel grateful to her…’

Because Lorona had such a spirit of self-sacrifice, she taught her a way to break Sernaus’s oath, and she was able to prevent her mother’s death.

Therefore, Resena felt an indescribable gratitude toward Lorona. Because of this, she could no longer view Lorona’s spirit of self-sacrifice negatively.

No, now she even liked it.

She was glad that such an aspect of Lorona approached her warmly.

Lorona had simply made a mistake.

A mistake she shouldn’t make, which was sacrificing her own life in her own way.

‘But now Lorona knows too…’

That the trigger for Eldis’s explosion in the “dream” I mentioned was because of Lorona’s own sacrifice.

So no matter how precious someone was to Lorona herself, she wouldn’t sacrifice her own life to die in their place.

Because she now knew that it would lead to the destruction of the world.

……Of course, now that Eldis no longer loves her, such a sacrifice wouldn’t cause him to go berserk.

‘For the sake of not making Sir Ian Fullecher, who loves Lorona, sad… I hope she no longer sacrifices her life.’

Her spirit of self-sacrifice is very noble, but because her death would have great meaning to those who care for her, I hope she doesn’t carelessly sacrifice her life.

Starting with myself, who received her help, I immediately wish for Lorona to live her own life safely.

Unaware that other meanings had mixed into her tears, Lorona simply smiled brightly and comforted Resena.

“Then, Resena. I’ll see you in 3 days. Since I’ve become an envoy to Amarast, I should go back and start preparing.”

“Lorona…!”

Feeling grateful once again to Lorona, who never showed off, Resena hugged her tightly.

Until this moment, Lorona had never neglected her consideration for others and her duty as a Saint.

That was what made her so thankful, so grateful.

Lorona smiled and patted Resena’s back. Feeling that touch warmly soothing her, Resena’s tears flowed once more.

‘Now, Mother is safe too…’

The plans that the previous Resena had made were also canceled, and Crown Prince Eldis, following her advice, would be able to avoid losing the people who were precious to him. All that remained was to control the variables so that the world wouldn’t be destroyed as they headed toward the ending.

Of course, that included stopping Amarast’s war preparations.

“Thank you. Really.”

As she embraced Lorona tightly and felt her warmth, Lorona looked at Resena with a kind face.

A few minutes later, comforted by Lorona’s pats, she slowly released her arms. Lorona looked at her with tears still welling in her eyes, then smiled warmly and patted her arm.

“The Duchess must have been very shocked by the accident, so comfort her sufficiently. Well then, Resena. I’ll be going now.”

“Thank you, Lorona. Get home safely. I’ll send a separate token of gratitude to the temple. Thank you so much, Lorona.”

Resena escorted Lorona to the entrance. Lorona boarded the carriage that had come from the temple, holding Ian’s arm who had come to meet her. When Sir Ian gave a slight bow to Resena, she nodded back.

“Thank you! Take care!”

After quietly watching the carriage disappear into the distance, she turned around and returned to the front of the operating room. Seeing the doctor tidying up the operating room with the nurses, Resena approached him and offered a handshake.

“You’ve really done well. Excellent skill. If it were up to me, I’d like you to stay at this Arnasus residence permanently, but you still want to travel the world, right?”

The doctor replied with a gentle expression.

“Yes, that’s right. Although you called me this time to treat the Duchess, I want to travel the world to encounter more diverse patients.”

Shaking the doctor’s hand, Resena said kindly.

“I see. Then I can’t stop you. Would 500,000 gold be sufficient for the treatment fee? I’ll also pay the nurses for their hard work, so please travel the world comfortably and treat many patients.”

“Yes, my lady. Thank you very much for your understanding.”

Resena wore a faint smile.

“I’m the one who should be thankful. Please stay comfortably at the Arnasus residence until you want to leave. I’ll provide rooms for the nurses as well, so you can leave whenever you wish.”

“I understand. I plan to depart in 3 days, so until then, I’ll monitor the Duchess’s progress.”

“Thank you, Doctor Amang. Then I’ll excuse myself.”

After individually paying the other nurses for their hard work, Resena ordered the maids to attend to the medical staff. Then she headed to the Duchess’s room.

Inside, she saw the Duchess still under the influence of anesthesia. Her father was sitting beside her bed, endlessly stroking his wife’s hand. Feeling a lump in her throat, Resena quietly approached them.

“You’re here, Resena. You must be tired, yet you’re not sleeping.”

“I thought I’d feel at ease only after seeing Mother’s face before going to bed. Has she woken up from the anesthesia?”

Father pressed his lips together and nodded. Then he turned his face back toward his wife.

“She woke up earlier and asked for you. When I told her that you were still in the operating room talking with the doctor, she seemed relieved and fell asleep. She was saying she was sorry for frightening you so much…”

“She has nothing to be sorry for… I’m just glad that Mother safely completed the surgery and properly received the healing by holy power.”

“Yes. Your calling the doctor in advance was a masterful move. Ah, of course, that’s not all. I didn’t expect Saint Lorona to come to our house. It worked out well… but how did the Saint come to our house when she must be busy with the Great Blessing Ceremony?”

Seeing her father’s puzzled face, Resena quietly answered.

“Actually, I wanted to have a deep conversation with Lorona, so I invited her to have dinner together after the Great Blessing Ceremony. As you know, on the day of the Great Blessing Ceremony, the Saint can move around freely without having to report to the temple every single time. So I thought Lorona would be more comfortable, and invited her… I didn’t expect her to wait for treatment right away when Mother got hurt.”

“I see… It’s really fortunate. If you hadn’t invited Lorona, it would have been difficult to call a priest on the day of the Great Blessing Ceremony. Thanks to you, everything was safely resolved.”

“Yes. And I’m planning to separately express my gratitude to Lorona. I just sent her back tonight because it was too late, but I should make a donation to the temple in Lorona’s name and also thank her directly.”
