Tears were slightly welling up, but Alken deliberately pretended not to notice to avoid embarrassing him and smiled gently.

“Thank you. Thank you. I never expected… such help…”

“It would be problematic for the Empire too if black mana controls the Kingdom of Amarast and the Kingdom of Serma. So there’s no need to be so grateful.”

“No… No. Even so, we will be liberated from black mana because of this. This is also about reviving Amarast’s fate. Truly, I will never forget this favor.”

Serdat bowed his head in gratitude. Alken was both slightly surprised and embarrassed, so he swallowed his words. Roin beside him was also bowing his head, so Alken carefully chose his words and slowly spoke to escape this situation.

“If you’re that grateful, please thank the person who foresaw this entire situation. That person also runs a trading company, so they would be very pleased if you provided benefits in that direction.”

“A trading company? Ah, then I’ll provide most of the products exported from Amarast to that person’s company at a 30% discounted price. In addition, I’ll also provide the newest products from Amarast first.”

Alken smiled broadly.

“Thank you. That person will be very pleased with that.”

“Yes. So, may I know that person’s name? I know we’ll be returning to Amarast together, but I’d like to know in advance. They’re the lifeline that saved us.”

Alken laughed refreshingly.

“That person’s name is…”

He slowly said the name.

And then, seeing Serdat’s eyes widen, he laughed freshly once more.

‘Resena. You truly are an amazing person.’

Admiring the clever thoughts that made it impossible to recall her former self.

Alken leisurely shared many stories with Serdat.

It was only natural that Resena’s name came up very frequently in their conversation.

***

Resena stretched on the bed, lightly beginning the morning of her day.

In three days, she would be going to Amarast as an envoy. But before that, an important issue remained.

‘Mother will suffer a fracture today.’

While horseback riding, a hornet stings the horse’s behind, causing her to fall off. In the process, she gets stepped on by the horse, twisting one leg and suffering a compound fracture where the bone protrudes through the skin—this was happening today.

But today happened to be the day of the Great Blessing Ceremony. Since all the priests would be out in the streets to give consecration to commoners… Without the priest’s healing power, they would have to perform surgery, and the area would become infected, causing acute renal failure symptoms and leading to her death.

“…So far, I haven’t been able to prevent Mother’s fracture. No matter what I did, even having all the hornets caught, I couldn’t prevent the hornet from stinging the horse. Moreover, Mother insisted on riding today, and no matter what, even if it meant changing horses, she went horseback riding.”

Muttering to herself, Resena got up and opened the diary she had written.

The pages were densely filled with experiences from several regressions. Not only from the day of regression but also with additional pages added afterward, making the diary look like a thick stack of documents.

“Here it is.”

Resena read it and strengthened her resolve once more.

Although she had failed to save her mother before, this time she had an ace up her sleeve. Thanks to having consulted with Saint Lorona in advance, Lorona had promised to tour the plaza and then come to the Arnasus residence around 4 PM today.

‘After actually having a deep conversation with Lorona, I found she’s a decent person. She has an exceptionally strong spirit of self-sacrifice, and thanks to that, I was also saved.’

So the surgery could be done in the evening. Resena had also arranged for a more renowned doctor to be called to the house today instead of the one who had performed the surgery before. Therefore, even if her mother got injured, the surgery would be performed in the presence of the best surgeon and a saint.

‘And while it would be better if she didn’t get hurt at all, since that’s impossible, let’s keep watching to ensure she gets hurt less.’

Resena clenched her fist and entered the bathroom. After a quick shower and drying her hair with a towel, the maids knocked and entered. While changing clothes with their assistance and drying her hair, there was another knock followed by her mother’s voice.

“Resena. Are you there?”

“Yes, Mother. Please come in.”

The Duchess entered the room gracefully. She was wearing riding clothes, which suggested she was planning to go horseback riding now.

“Resena, you’re also wearing riding clothes, that’s perfect timing. I’m going to ride along the newly built canal route, would you like to come along?”

“Yes. I’d love to. I’ve been wanting to go once.”

Come to think of it, she would need to tell Vernas that she couldn’t meet him for three weeks. Resena regretted not being able to watch Vernas’s beautiful hands. But for now, stopping Amarast’s war preparations was the priority.

So she thought she should stop by the dock while following the canal route to talk with Vernas. Since the place where her mother would get hurt was predetermined, Vernas would understand if she met and talked with him before going there.

“Then come to the entrance. I’ll wait for you there.”

“Yes. I understand, Mother.”

Resena finished her light makeup, tied her hair in a high ponytail, and went to the entrance. Her exclusive horse, Speed Millionaire, and her mother’s exclusive horse, Fight Doom, were snorting and perking up their ears.

Resena finished her light makeup, tied her hair in a high ponytail, and went to the entrance. Her exclusive horse, Speed Millionaire, and her mother’s exclusive horse, Fight Doom, were snorting and perking up their ears.

“I haven’t gone horseback riding for so long, I really wanted to do it today. I’m happy thinking about doing it with you.”

“Yes. I’m happy too, Mother. Let’s have a great time today.”

Since her mother was destined to get hurt no matter what, she couldn’t dissuade her. If that was the case, Resena wanted to make her mother as happy as possible, so she mounted the saddle.

At first, she made the horse walk slowly, but after passing through the main gate, she lightly pulled the reins to make the horse run.

“The scenery is nice. Today the weather is clear, making it the most optimal weather for horseback riding.”

“Yes. The clouds are leisurely floating by… The rainy season will start soon, but before that, it’s exceptionally clear and the wind is refreshing.”

Although the sunlight was hot, the wind encountered while on the stirrups refreshingly blew through her hair. Her mother, like a girl just entering puberty, smiled brightly and urged Fight Doom on.

And so, Resena and the Duchess rode their horses amicably, taking turns leading and following. As they galloped along the long waterway of the canal, the hydrangeas blooming along the road stimulated their noses with a subtle fragrance.

“It’s refreshing. The scent is good too. And being able to watch the boats move is the icing on the cake.”

“Indeed. Oh, Resena. Didn’t you say you wanted to stop by somewhere?”

“Ah. Yes. That’s right. I have something to say to Vernas. Would you wait for me a little while when we reach the dock?”

The Duchess smiled elegantly.

“Alright. Hoho. I feel like our Resena has grown up. When you used to follow Crown Prince Eldis around, you still had a youthful look…”

“Ahaha. Mother. That’s in the past now. I’m different from before.”

“Hoho. Yes. You’ve become a bit more mature, a bit more serious. It’s good to see, Resena.”

Resena let out a small laugh.

“Thank you for saying so. Mother’s praise always feels good, no matter when I hear it.”

“If that makes our daughter happy, I should do it more often. Resena, you are always the beloved child of me and Alec. Whatever you do, Alec and I will support you.”

Resena looked at her mother, captivated by the sight. A wistful emotion seeped into her heart, solidifying her determination even more.

‘I will absolutely not let Mother die.’

This time, I will definitely save Mother.
