Perhaps she would regret not reading the notebook sooner. If that was the case, it would be better to follow through and find out, no matter the consequences, even if the truth would wound her.

Ivonne quickly moved her gaze to the next sentence. Her green eyes, still filled with fear, followed the next line, and she continued reading. Because the sentences on each page were few, she had read through the entire notebook in less than 30 minutes.

After finishing the last sentence, Ivonne’s expression was incredibly complicated and subtle.

“Is this… a draft?”

Ivonne asked aloud, though she wasn’t sure why. She couldn’t fully understand or believe it, but surprisingly, Isaac’s diary appeared to be the rough draft for this world, <Childhood Husband>.

‘No, no. I shouldn’t be calling this Isaac’s diary.’

Though the cover said ‘diary,’ the main content was definitely the story of <Childhood Husband> centered around Ivonne and Blitzen, not Isaac.

‘But why… is this here?’

That was the issue. Why was the story that formed the foundation of ‘this world’ here, inside this world? Why was it in the western tower, in a plain notebook labeled as a diary? The thought crossed Ivonne’s mind that this couldn’t possibly be a coincidence.

“Hmm…”

Her head was spinning, but unfortunately, she couldn’t be certain of anything right now. The notebook had been in the western tower, where Isaac had managed things, and in the drawer of a desk he used, so it was easy to assume it belonged to him.

But the content of the notebook didn’t specify the owner.

‘It could belong to the Emperor or the Pope.’

However, since it didn’t seem likely that either of them would bring a diary when they kidnapped Ivonne, she hadn’t discovered anything solid. Ivonne was about to close the notebook—or rather, the draft of <Childhood Husband>—when,

“Ah.”

In that instant, the last page fell with a soft snap. She had thought it was just one page, but it turned out the two sides were stuck together. A small note that seemed to be between the pages fluttered to the floor like a ribbon.

Ivonne picked up the note, without much suspicion. The thin paper, folded in half, had small handwriting on it. What immediately caught Ivonne’s eye was something important.

“This is… Isaac’s signature.”

This meant that while the notebook itself might not have been Isaac’s, the note certainly was. And considering the note was hidden within the notebook, it greatly increased the likelihood that the notebook itself belonged to Isaac as well.

“……”

A chill ran down her spine, even though there was no breeze. Her skin prickled as if someone was standing behind her. Ivonne decided to focus on the note she had picked up, trying to shake off the eerie feeling.

‘What could the content be, that it was hidden here like this?’

She unfolded the note with curiosity. As her eyes slowly moved over the top line, a slight frown appeared on her face.

The Lord Novnye.

That was the name of the god of this world. She had heard it many times in conversation, but this was the first time she saw it written down. Normally, nye would be read as na-i, not ni-e.

However, her confusion was fleeting, quickly replaced by a strange feeling in her spine. The reason was simple—what she was reading wasn’t in the Sortrenic Empire’s language.

‘This is English.’

She had read it so naturally that she almost missed it, but the language written on the note was English—the language she had used in her past life. This wasn’t just any language; it was the very same language she had spoken before she came to this world.

It was the language of the world she was born into. Now, it made sense why she had read “Novnye” as “Novnai” instead of “Novnie”.

As she stared at the word Novnye, something clicked in her mind.

“…Huh?”

It dawned on her that the letters, when rearranged, could form her name.

Ivonne (Yvonne).

Novnie was an anagram of Ivonne’s name. But then, perhaps it was the other way around.

This was a story that wasn’t part of the original work. Ivonne tried to reason with herself.

‘”Ivonne” is the name the author gave to the protagonist, so it wouldn’t be so surprising if the god created by the author had a name similar to it.’

Of course, this was a chilling coincidence, but if she gave it the benefit of the doubt, it wasn’t completely incomprehensible.

‘But what about the language?’

The question, which had come to her mind, made her drop the note. Her hands were trembling.

‘Can a language really hide itself within a world? If the author had hidden a language, why would it be in a place like this?’

She had seen instances in novels where languages, like Korean, appeared as ancient tongues in fantasy worlds. They were languages only the female lead could interpret.

‘Could English be something like that here?’

But such chapters were never in the original story. While the details of the original story had faded somewhat since she came to this world, she was certain of one thing. If English were an ancient or undiscovered language in this world, there was no way the god’s name would have been miswritten or passed down incorrectly.

So, what was this? With no clear connection to anything, could a word written in this world’s language really form the foundation of its existence?

This was becoming more than just about Isaac’s identity.
