‘What am I… seeing…now…’
Ivonne, blinking her green eyes continuously, looked as if she doubted her own eyes. It was utterly incomprehensible.
Rix, treating her slightly burned hand as if it were a sacred object, gingerly holding it, and devoutly pressing his lips to the burnt area. Moreover, his tormented eyebrows looked distorted as if that alone constituted a sinful act. Yet, he clung firmly, his grip desperate.
Even though his warm and moist lips touched the area of the mild burn, it didn’t feel scalding. Ivonne had thought it wouldn’t feel anything due to the shock. However, when Rix slowly withdrew, as if regretful, as if he wanted to spend his entire life with his lips attached to Ivonne’s skin, only then did Ivonne realize.
‘Oh, the burn is healed, huh?’
That Rix had treated her. She didn’t know what had happened exactly, but this was a fantasy world, and the Sortanic Empire was renowned for its many wizards. It wasn’t strange to have someone skilled in healing magic.
Upon this realization, Ivonne’s face flushed with embarrassment. What kind of description had she given to Rix, who was merely administering treatment?
“Ah…” Her throat was clogged with shame. Quickly, Ivonne pulled her hand toward herself.
“Th-thank you. I’m sorry. I was thinking something else…”
Words came out incoherently. Despite the fact that the ‘other thought’ was a crucial one directly related to her life, Ivonne was busy with mere excuses.
“Be careful.”
The low voice was dry. It was a voice that had just a moment ago passionately and persistently held Ivonne’s hand between his lips but now, it couldn’t be imagined that the voice had come from those same lips.
Oh, it was truly strange. Rix’s attitude, claiming it was just a treatment, and the familiarly dry and quiet voice, so regretfully different from the lips that were moist and fervently attached to Ivonne’s hand just a moment ago!
“Yes, yes. I’ll be careful….”
Ivonne hastily replied, holding the teacup that Rix had taken earlier. The spilled tea on the surface was slippery and damp, but it was less so than the lips that had been holding her hand. So, while Ivonne held the teacup, she couldn’t even think of drinking.
Whether it was due to her mood or not, amidst the strangely heavy atmosphere, the sound of waves could be heard from outside.
‘Ah, the sea.’
Instead of dwelling on the sensation of the lips that remained on her hand, Ivonne decided to think about what would happen next. Whether it was because Rix was by her side or because she was very conscious of Rix, recalling the recent incident didn’t feel too frightening. Moreover, relying on help alone wasn’t her personality.
Ivonne, pulling the blanket once, spoke reverently to Rix.
“Rix, I’ll protect you next time.”
“…”
“…”
“…”
Crack, crack. The sound of wet logs burning was surprisingly peaceful.

“Ivonne! Rix!”
“Is everyone okay? Huh?”
“Wait a moment!”
By the time Ivonne and Rix’s thin clothes were almost dry, there was a commotion outside. It was the sound of their comrades coming to rescue them.
“Rix, look there. People are coming.”
In response to Ivonne’s words, Rix lightly nodded his head.
As if changing shape was a kind of magic, Rix’s bulky figure had reduced again, and the clothes that had seemed tense and ready to burst with every movement now appeared to finally be able to catch their breath.
“Well, come on up.”
“Ugh. What in the world is happening, really?”
“I was really surprised when we received the communication.”
Once Ivonne and Rix boarded the boat, their comrades began talking. They were referring to the time when Ivonne woke up in that cabin, and there was a communication device. She used it to contact their comrades.
“Here, have this.”
A female staff member handed Ivonne a warm cocoa she had prepared in a thermos. Although Ivonne was completely fine now, thanks to the jasmine tea Rix gave her and the stove he lit, she didn’t refuse the offer. Instead of drinking the cocoa, Ivonne asked something else.
“But is it okay to come here so noisily? What if the island manager sues us?”
“What? Sue us? Well, there has to be someone to accuse.”
After listening to the conversation between Rix and Johann, who had leaned in to hear, Ivonne asked again, feeling a bit puzzled.
“Huh? But here’s a private property, right? So, isn’t there an island manager?”
“It’s okay. This is the Crown Prince’s private property.”
“Huh? So why is that okay?”
Ivonne became even more puzzled, but she missed the timing to ask further when the topic quickly changed to, “By the way, what were you two doing that brought you all the way here?”
“Oh, that’s…”
Ivonne was about to tell the truth, but considering that discussing Celestia and Blitzen who were nobles without any evidence and only relying solely on intuition, might not be appropriate. So she changed her words.
“I tripped and fell off a rock, and Rix helped me. Then, by chance, we ended up following the waves, and, well…”
“Oh, so you ‘accidentally’ washed up here?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
While exchanging words, they arrived again at Yucoralini Island, a three-minute boat ride from the stranded island.
