As Ivonne noticed the ceiling of her living room behind her, she realized where she was and shuddered slightly. Unlike Rix’s confused appearance, a faint smile lingered on Ivonne’s lips.
“It’s okay now. Everything is fine.”
“…?”
“It’s all my fault, Rix. I won’t do it again. I heard about your house. You wanted to tell me, but I didn’t listen. I’m sorry. There’s a spare room here, so stay with me for a while.”
Her voice was hurried; it truly sounded repentant.
Still finding it hard to fully grasp the situation, Rix quietly closed his eyes again, hiding the thrill in his purple eyes that was unknown to Ivonne.
Thus, while listening quietly to Ivonne’s story, Rix asked with a watery voice.
“Can you… hold my hand?”
“Your hand?”
“It’s just too hard… to endure like this.”
He spoke as if he was whining, in a tone that was quite endearing. Yet, his voice was deeply hoarse, rough as if suppressing fever rather than being husky from sleep. His request held a double meaning, though Ivonne didn’t catch it.
“Alright.”
She knew how much she had longed for the warmth of another person when she was sick. Just a few months ago, when she had been poisoned because of Celestia and was bedridden, she felt the same. Knowing that loneliness, Ivonne held Rix’s hand without any hesitation.
“…Don’t let go.”
His voice was very faint, as if he was sinking into sleep or perhaps a last gasp as one sinks into a mire.
“Yes, so sleep a little more.”
Ah, this place was truly heaven for Rix. He heard what he wanted from Ivonne, and the poison flowing through his body was somewhat neutralized…
He couldn’t stay awake. This was the first time in this life, in human form, that he had fallen into such a peaceful, deep sleep.

Birds chirped, and droplets of water fell from the edge of the eaves. It was indeed a peaceful Sunday morning.
In this tranquility, Ivonne murmured in her half-asleep state,
“Yes, nice…”
Was this what it felt like to be embraced by sunlight? Despite it being summer, the cozy warmth had a way of melting anyone, especially after a night of heavy rain like yesterday. Wanting to bask a bit more in that warmth, Ivonne wriggled like a chick burrowing into its mother’s warmth, then suddenly woke up.
‘Rix?’
She had spent the previous night nursing Rix, who was suffering from a fever in the living room. But feeling such comfort in her half-asleep state? That shouldn’t be possible. She abruptly opened her eyes wide.
Startled, Ivonne froze with a bizarre sound.
Even in the fresh morning sunlight, the man retained his unique monochrome appearance. The only colors he possessed were the provocative purple of his eyes and the red of his lips.
“Did you sleep well?”
Rix was there, even offering one arm to her! The warmth she found cozy was none other than Rix’s!
“Uh…”
Though fully awake, her voice failed her as she was so shocked into silence. She could only gaze up at Rix, who lay beside her, propping his head on one hand as a pillow. It was a foolish look, but her mind was racing more than ever. The living room scene was visible behind Rix, and she could feel the sofa’s back against her.
In short, Ivonne was trapped between Rix and the sofa.
‘I can’t even get up.’
The position that was so comfortable moments ago now felt constricting, as if she was bound and oppressed. Every breath, blink, and moment felt controlled by Rix.
Yet, Rix seemed unaffected, still wearing his thick glasses, casually holding a handful of Ivonne’s tousled hair.
“You were uncomfortable on the chair.”
His explanation for moving to the sofa didn’t match the intent behind his actions, kissing the pink strands of her hair.
A sofa, no matter how spacious, is still a sofa. Wouldn’t it have been better to lay on a different one? Ivonne thought so but couldn’t voice her opinion.
“Thanks to Ivonne, I’m all better now.”
His voice was low and suggestive despite the bright morning. The corners of his eyes crinkled as he smiled, his lips curling up at the ends as they touched her pink hair, appearing slightly mischievous.
Ah, it was ‘seductive.’ Ivonne managed only to gulp her saliva discreetly, not to be noticed by Rix.
‘…What should I do, I don’t want to get up.’
Considering such thoughts, it might not have been Rix but Ivonne whose brain melted from the fever yesterday.
Later that day, in the late afternoon.
“I’ll be off then. If you feel even slightly unwell, you must go to the doctor immediately. Understood?”
Nod. Rix responded with a nod to Ivonne’s words filled with concern. He was dressed in clothes brought by Johann, fitting perfectly despite being Johann’s, which was curious given their apparent difference in build.
Now, Ivonne was hurriedly heading to the salon to attend the Crown Prince’s birthday celebration in the evening.
