‘He may have cheated with the villainess, but he’s still the lead of this world…’
Why is he acting so dumb and clueless?
“Forgive me, Ivonne! I’ve come back to you! I endured the treacherous and cruel grasp of Celestia, holding on to my love for you, and I’ve finally returned!”
While Ivonne was too stunned to respond, Blitzen continued his self-serving monologue.
“It was a truly horrible spell. Unlike you, it wasn’t beautiful or enchanting! Yes, it was a curse. So, Ivonne, you must forgive me now. You need to understand that I, too, was a victim!”
Is this even an apology? Telling her to forgive him, that she’s sulking, that she needs to understand him—how is any of that an apology?
‘Ugh, I don’t even want to listen or think about this.’
Ivonne decided to use magic to trap Blitzen in an invisible box. With no magical abilities of his own, he wouldn’t even realize it. His voice would be confined to the box, never reaching Ivonne.
‘Now, time for bed.’
She had no intention of indulging his absurd delusions any further.
“Ivonne! Ivonne!”
Blitzen was still fervently calling out to her, but from the outside, it just looked like he was silently mouthing her name. Suddenly, she grew curious.
‘What’s his game this time?’
Ivonne watched him carefully. Blitzen, unaware of his magical confinement, continued to babble.
‘Why did he suddenly come here and say all that?’
Mentioning the treacherous Celestia and how he endured to return to her…
‘What does he mean by a horrible spell?’
It was an odd way to try and cover up his affair with Celestia, now that her family had fallen.
‘It would have been more fitting if he’d said he was under a spell, or that he had taken me for granted because of familiarity. That would suit a typical romance novel lead like Blitzen better.’
Usually, when characters behave out of character, it’s a sign that something significant is happening. In other words, Ivonne needed to find out why Blitzen had come to her now.
“…Ha, really. When will I ever be free and peaceful?”
She missed Rix, who had taken the late-night snack Ivonne had packed for him. Everything felt peaceful when he was around, but chaos seemed to follow whenever they were apart.
‘Come to think of it, that’s true. On Yucoralini Island, and even here in the capital…’
Maybe Rix was a fairy of peace sent to ensure her comfort. Although, comparing his nearly 2-meter tall frame, low and rough voice, and extraordinarily handsome features to a cute, small fairy seemed a bit of a stretch.
“Ivonne! Ivonne!”
Blitzen was calling her name so loudly that veins were bulging in his neck. Ivonne sighed and decided to confront him to find out why he had come. She lightly jumped down to the backyard, adjusting the transparency barrier so that sound could pass through.
“Oh!”
Blitzen, not noticing her displeasure at having to approach him, spread his arms wide in a grotesque gesture.
“Ivonne, I’ve missed you!”
As he tried to hug her, he collided with the transparent wall she had set up, finally realizing he was trapped. He looked shocked for a moment but quickly recovered.
“Ah, I see. You’re worried I might leave you again. I understand. I’ll stay here quietly until you feel reassured.”
Ivonne realized today just how clueless Blitzen could be. She didn’t even know where to begin denying his assumptions, so she chose to ignore them.
“Why are you here?”
“Why is it so strange for me to come see you? I’ve regained my senses. I’ve escaped Celestia’s schemes. So, naturally, I’ve come to see you, my love.”
“Celestia’s schemes?”
Ignoring his declarations of love, she went straight to the point. Blitzen didn’t seem to mind her cutting through his words. It showed just how desperate he was.
“That woman toyed with me. Everything was planned. Poisoning you, pretending to poison herself, and driving a wedge between us.”
Blitzen grumbled with deep resentment. A flicker of disbelief crossed Ivonne’s face.
‘He only realizes this now?’
It was astonishing that Blitzen hadn’t figured it out earlier.
“But how did you find out?”
“It was the day she died. A man came to see me and told me everything.”
“A man?”
“Yes. He introduced himself as another victim of Celestia’s schemes, just like me. He showed me the evidence.”
“Evidence…?”
“It’s…a kind of orb. It had a slight pinkish hue. He showed it to me, and it contained everything. The orb held all the evidence, detailing how Celestia planned and executed her terrible schemes.”
