I Became a Barbarian's Bride - Chapter 101
Despite his irritated grimace, Kagan pushed Nisha back a little further.
“This is not a sight you should see.”
“But…”
“His condition was never good to begin with. It’s only natural that he can’t be saved. I’m the one who told you to eat first, so don’t let guilt weigh on you, Princess…”
“No, I can save him.”
“Yes, you can save him… wait, what?”
Kagan froze.
“I can save him, so… can I try?”
To be honest, even though he had asked her, he wasn’t sure if she could heal such an extreme, life-threatening injury.
From the start, Kagan never thought his subordinate would survive.
All he had hoped for was that the man might regain consciousness for even a moment—enough to give them a clue about the culprit.
But even that had become impossible.
‘He’s already dead.’
Kagan had sharp instincts.
He had seen the unseen, witnessed countless deaths over the years.
So there was one thing he was certain of: the last breath had already left his subordinate’s body.
‘They don’t realize it yet because everyone’s too frantic.’
While he was lost in thought, Nisha also sensed the man’s breath had stopped. Without hesitation, she quickly approached him.
‘Before anyone notices…’
She would at least try.
Whether she could bring someone back from the dead, Nisha didn’t know. But it just so happened that her life force had been recently replenished.
‘This man…’
Nisha’s eyes widened slightly.
His face was so caved in that she hadn’t realized it at first, but this was the same man who had come to Roshan with Kagan.
The man who had subdued Rad in an instant before retreating at Kagan’s command.
“Wait, Nisha.”
Kagan reached out his arm, about to say there was no point—it was too late. The man was already dead.
But at that moment, light burst from Nisha’s fingertips, and the entire room was bathed in a brilliant white glow.
‘Can I really save him?’
Even Nisha wasn’t sure, but she began channeling her life force into the man.
It felt different from when she connected with the earth, but the sensation of something being drawn out as soon as she touched him was unnerving.
Her eyes widened before slowly calming again.
A twisted, gut-wrenching sensation began to fill her, as if something was scraping her insides.
Her eyes flew open, her shoulders trembling uncontrollably as she felt like she was on the verge of suffocating.
A chilling sense of death flashed through her mind.
Just as her vision blurred and something like a flood of images rushed before her eyes, Nisha’s body swayed violently.
“Nisha!!”
Kagan ran forward, catching her by the waist and holding her tightly to keep her from collapsing.
Crackle—
A shiver ran across Kagan’s cheek as a faint jolt passed between them.
His eyes turned bloodshot, and soon his eyelids began to twitch slightly.
Before long, a vision unfolded before his eyes.
“Nisha…?”
A scene he couldn’t recognize spread out before him.
At the peak of a towering mountain, blistering heat surged violently, as if to warn away any outsiders.
Nisha stood at the very edge of a cliff.
No, this wasn’t just a cliff. Right behind her was a volcano’s crater, spewing smoke.
If she took even a single step back, she would fall into the bottomless abyss, the entrance to a land of death from which there would be no return.
The land where Kagan’s skies and moon slumbered in the fires of the dead.
Standing at the edge of that precipice, Nisha smiled.
And then, spreading her arms wide, she leapt—
The vision shattered, and Kagan slammed his foot into the ground. Even though there was nothing he could grab onto, his body reacted instinctively.
“Kagan!!”
A voice cried out, snapping him back to reality. His eyes widened.
The scene changed, and the world brightened once more.
He blinked slowly, rubbing his face, trying to relieve the unbearable burning sensation in his eyes.
In front of him lay his bloodied subordinate.
And around him, other soldiers stared, shocked.
“The Tun…”
