I Became a Barbarian's Bride - Chapter 32
When she took the homemade medicine, her blood would circulate quickly and her body would gradually heat up.
Eventually, as if burning from the inside, she’d curl up from the unbearable heat, and then, yes, she’d hear something snap as her breath hitched.
Then it would come.
A very deep sleep that no one could wake her from.
A piece of the peace she so longed for.
She slowly closed her eyes and succumbed to the cold that followed the heat.
Was this what it felt like to get lost on a snowy mountain, slowly dying?
She, who yearned for what she shouldn’t, fell into a long sleep again today.

Knock-, knock-.
Kagan knocked on Nisha’s door early in the morning.
He had woken up in the middle of the night with severe burning pain in his eyes, and he had seen something strange.
A woman eating something, closing her eyes, and falling asleep.
Actually, thinking about it, it wasn’t so strange that he knocked on his wife’s door early in the morning.
The woman he brought was surprisingly weak, so naturally, she might have medicine she needed to take.
The problem was seeing that same woman a few hours later, sitting blankly on the bed, staring at the sunrise, with an oddly empty look in her eyes.
From her, Kagan felt a sense of emptiness, like a dead person devoid of anything.
“Yes?”
A languid voice came from inside, and soon, the door clicked open.
“….Your Highness?”
“Did you sleep well, Princess?”
“Oh, I had a bit of a restless night, but it was alright. I’m not used to the bed yet.”
“I see.”
Kagan said while carefully observing her and then lightly scanned the room with his eyes.
There wasn’t anything particularly strange. The chill he had felt beyond his eyelids wasn’t there. She looked somewhat languid, but there wasn’t an empty feeling.
‘…Strange. Was it my imagination?’
What his eyes showed him had never been a lie.
But since he was the one interpreting what he saw, the emptiness he felt could have been his own misjudgment.
“Do you take any medication?”
“Medication? Oh… just some vitamins. Small, round ones. Are external medications prohibited in Xieman…?”
“No, vitamins, is it?”
“Yes… but how did you know?”
‘I don’t recall mentioning it…’
Her voice trailed off with a hint of confusion, and Kagan Xieman paused for a moment.
“I told you I have a special ability. I see things others can’t.”
Kagan explained briefly and didn’t add anything further.
“Oh…”
Nisha’s eyes rolled slightly before she nodded in understanding.
Kagan took a slow breath and pressed his fingers against his eyelids. The burning sensation made his head feel like it was about to split.
Nisha, who had been watching him silently, spoke up.
“Shall I help you?”
“Help me? With what?”
“Your eyes, they seem to be in pain. Like before, is it phantom pain? It’s probably the consequence… isn’t it?”
Kagan paused at her words.
He remembered the refreshing and cool sensation from her small hand when it had touched his eye before.
“If it doesn’t trouble you, Princess.”
Recalling the bothersome act of recharging, Kagan spoke, and Nisha shook her head.
“I’ll help you.”
She smiled kindly and moved aside from the door.
Kagan obediently stepped into the room. Cool air was seeping through the open window.
The room smelled of soap, and there was none of the unsettling feeling he had seen in his vision.
“Please, sit on the bed for a moment.”
Nisha said this and went into the bathroom to wash her hands.
She then carefully placed her hand over Kagan’s eye.
Once again, Kagan didn’t close his eyes until her small hand completely covered them. Only then did he slowly lower his eyelids.
