I Became a Barbarian's Bride - Chapter 54
“Princess.”
Hearing the voice calling her, Nisha finally stopped walking and turned her head with wide eyes.
“Oh, what can I do for you? Is there something you need to say…?”
“Drop the formalities already. Walking along so fast on your own.”
“Oh… okay, did I do something wrong?”
Her response was a mix of formal and informal speech, which was neither respectful nor casual. Kagan found it amusing and let out a chuckle as he leisurely walked up to her side.
Since they would have to see each other often in the future, she didn’t want things to be awkward or uncomfortable, so she felt the need to approach him first.
“No. I was just praising you for finding your way so well, my princess.”
At his words, Nisha gave a puzzled look, rolling her eyes, then noticed his eyelids twitching and finally let out a soft “Ah.”
“Should I treat your eyes…?”
Nisha quickly cut off her words before finishing the sentence.
“Yes, if you would, let’s do it in the room.”
He whispered softly, kissing her cheek. As his face came closer, Nisha instinctively closed one eye but nodded quietly.
As soon as they returned to the room, Nisha neatly folded the shawl and placed it back in his hands, then spoke.
“Please sit on the bed for a moment… I’ll just wash my hands and be right back.”
“Why wash your hands? It’s not like you touched anything dirty.”
“But it’s going to touch your body, so it’s dirty anyw…ay.”
Wobbling slightly as if unfamiliar with it, she tried her best to avoid using formal speech, making Kagan tilt his head with a curious look.
‘What’s dirty about it?’
All she had done after leaving his embrace was meet his parents.
“This is challenging.”
Maybe it’s because she’s not from Xieman or has a naturally timid personality, but she seemed quite uncomfortable.
He sighed and scratched the back of his head.
It seemed like she was quite startled at their first meeting, and despite his efforts to treat her well since their first night together, he couldn’t shake off the feeling of being out of place.
It felt like he was trying to get closer, but he kept circling around her, unable to get any nearer.
‘Well, as long as there are no problems.’
As long as she adapted to Xieman, bore his child, and lived until their roles were complete, there shouldn’t be any major issues.
“The precious princess is quite picky.”
He thought, slowly closing and opening his eyes, that perhaps it would take some time, considering he had brought her, quite violently, from a place where she was cherished..
“Cough, cough!”
A high-pitched coughing sound came from the bathroom. Kagan turned his head towards the bathroom.
Cough, cough…
It sounded like she was drinking water frantically, either in a panic or doing something busy. After a while, the sound of subdued coughing was heard, followed by the click of the bathroom door opening.
She came out, wiping her hands as if nothing had happened, and approached him.
“Are you alright?”
“Yes, why?”
“You seemed to be coughing badly… should we call a doctor?”
“Oh, it’s fine. It happens often and isn’t contagious… And I look frail, but I’m actually quite sturdy.”
Her small, delicate body seemed as if it could fit perfectly in his embrace. She shrugged her shoulders and glanced at his face.
Nisha was particularly petite, even among the women of Roshan. Yet, she seemed unafraid in front of him.
‘Though she doesn’t meet my eyes.’
While he was thinking this, Nisha silently reached out and placed her hand on Kagan’s eyelids.
His eyes were always noticeably hotter than the rest of his body, while her hands were always cold.
This time, too, her hands were cold, likely from washing with cold water. Despite the chill, he furrowed his brows slightly but slowly closed his eyes.
Even without her using her ability, the mere cooling touch of her hand was enough to make him feel better.
Gradually, a warm sensation spread through the cold touch, easing the burning and throbbing pain.
Though he had grown used to enduring the discomfort over a long time, experiencing this relief a few times made him feel like it could become quite addictive.
After keeping her hand on his eyes for nearly five minutes, Nisha pulled it away swiftly as soon as she thought the pain had subsided.
“……”
Kagan raised one eyebrow slightly.
“Uh, Your Highness.”
“Just call me Kagan. You should be getting used to it by now.”
“Oh, yes. Kagan. Are your eyes feeling better now?”
“Thanks to my princess, they feel much better.”
He said, lightly wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her onto his lap.
