I Became a Barbarian's Bride - Chapter 55
Nisha’s eyes widened in surprise, then she rolled her eyes and deliberately looked away before speaking.
“Well, I have a favor to ask, if that’s okay?”
“A favor? What is it?”
“The maid you assigned to me. Could I possibly have one of the maids I brought with me instead?”
“Oh, you mean that maid.”
“Yes, of course, it’s not that I don’t like the maid you assigned or that she’s incompetent. And I don’t intend to separate her. I was just wondering if I could keep the maid I brought with me nearby as well.”
“Well, considering you’re a distinguished princess, I had thought at least three maids would be necessary. We can assign the remaining spot to your maid. However, the methods of Xieman and Roshan differ, so she’ll need some training before being assigned. Is that acceptable?”
“Oh, absolutely! Thank you so much.”
Nisha’s face lit up with a bright smile, causing Kagan to pause.
He realized that seeing her genuinely smile like this was exceptionally rare. Until now, she had only shown a painted-on smile, but never this kind of radiant joy.
‘Have I been too inconsiderate?’
He wondered if his idea of treating her well was just a delusion, but he managed to maintain his composure.
“Is using formal language something you’re very accustomed to, Princess? I thought you’d be more comfortable with casual speech.”
“Ah, with superiors, it’s usually… Sorry. I’ll try. And… about the other kids who came with us, the knight and the stable boy… Rad and Mash…”
“Oh, that young knight was quite daring.”
Nisha’s neck shrank slightly at Kagan’s words, as he recalled how the boy had fiercely tried to protect his master despite being outmatched.
“Oh, yes. If he was disrespectful, I apologize. I mean, I’m sorry.”
“No need for that. So, you’re curious about their whereabouts?”
“Ah, yes. They’re new to Xieman because of me, and…”
“That young knight was taken in by my subordinates. They seem to like him and are probably putting him through training. Once his skills improve, I’ll assign him to your guard.”
“Oh, I’m grateful… I mean, thank you.”
Her eyes widened as she quickly adjusted her expression and nodded. Kagan chuckled, gently holding her waist and clasping her hand.
Nisha was always taken aback by his casual touch.
“And about the stuttering boy, Rad?”
“No, the one who stutters is Mash.”
“Right, that Mash kid. He seems to have a limp too…”
As Kagan trailed off, Nisha quickly interjected.
“Well… I saved him when he was being beaten up a long time ago… He’s a bit scared of people. He’s shy, but once he gets used to the environment, he’ll be fine.”
“If he’s good at taking care of animals like horses, I was thinking of placing him under our stable master. They manage everything from horses to various livestock.”
At Kagan’s words, Nisha nodded.
“As long as it’s not too strenuous or involves meeting too many new people…”
“Alright, I’ll arrange it that way. I’ll also tell them to take care of him, so don’t worry. Do you think I’d harm the people you brought with you?”
At his amused remark, Nisha slowly nodded.
