I Became a Barbarian's Bride - Chapter 74
Still, he found it odd that there was no hostility.
In fact, he had expected her to be much more uncooperative, but she wasn’t at all.
She was quiet, obedient, and did what was asked of her.
Even though she stiffened under his light touches, she never outright rejected them.
Kagan had assumed it was just awkwardness stemming from unfamiliarity. But what if that wasn’t the case?
“Kagan, the new Tun seems to be quite afraid of people. Your bond didn’t form under the best circumstances, so keep a close eye on her.”
“I’m already doing that.”
“I mean far more than you think is necessary. Don’t forget, you’re the only one she can rely on right now.”
Kagan’s expression hardened as he recalled the conversation with his mother. He glanced at the woman before him, noticing how pale she looked.
She was tense and watching him closely. He could now be certain that she was carefully monitoring his every move.
No, come to think of it, she had always been like this.
It was just that he had been too disinterested to notice.
He had so much he wanted to say, but he didn’t know where to begin.
As Kagan tried to sort through his thoughts, Nisha’s heart raced.
She had no idea what mistake she had made to cause his silence, and the anxiety was unbearable.
Her lips moved wordlessly as she tried to find the right words before she finally took a deep breath.
Her ears hummed, and her head felt dizzy. Her vision blurred and cleared again and again, as if the world was repeatedly drawing closer and farther away, making everything feel unreal.
‘Did I take too much medicine?’
They say even medicine becomes poison if overdone. What should I do?
Am I going to die?
No, of course not.
Dying and coming back to life—that would be a more accurate way to put it in her case.
“If there’s anything else I need to be aware of, please let me know…”
“I do have a lot to say…”
But if he said it now, emotions might flare up.
After forcing this fragile-looking woman through an entire day of festivities, having a serious conversation now didn’t seem like a good idea.
Besides, it was partly his fault for not explaining the oracle more clearly earlier.
He rubbed his face and let out a long sigh.
“For now, you should rest, Princess. We can talk tomorrow or whenever you’re feeling better.”
“I’m fine, though.”
“You’re so pale you look like you might collapse any second. Don’t push yourself.”
Kagan firmly shook his head.
“Don’t say anything strange. Just rest, Princess.”
“But…”
Nisha’s lips moved, but before she could continue, her vision began to spin. “Ah…” she let out a short sound.
The world spun around her.
Or perhaps, she was the one spinning.
Despite trying to stay upright, her body couldn’t resist falling forward.
‘This is bad…’
It would be a problem if she ended up labeled as a troublesome and useless person again.
“Princess…?”
Even while thinking this, Nisha quickly opened her mouth.
“I’m sorry… I’ll be fine soon…”
Thud-. Just as she felt her body land on something soft, her vision went black.
“Nisha!”
The last thing she heard was a startled voice before she couldn’t think of anything else.

“You’re making me nervous. Would you please sit down, Kagan?”
The doctor, overwhelmed by the imposing figure hovering closely behind him, finally spoke up.
“Then hurry up with the diagnosis.”
“I’m working on it. It’s just… her body is very weak overall.”
“You’ve mentioned that before.”
The doctor nodded.
Indeed, that was the case, but she seemed even more frail than the last time he saw her.
“Right now… her symptoms look like a drug reaction. Has the Princess been taking any additional medication?”
“From what I know, just the medicine and supplements you prescribed.”
“As long as she didn’t take too much, there shouldn’t be any side effects from what I gave her…”
The doctor, who had been speaking, suddenly stopped and stared at Nisha for a long moment, his mouth agape.
It was no wonder—these symptoms were exactly what would appear with an overdose of the medication he had prescribed.
Horrified, he rummaged through the bedside table, opening drawers until he found the medicine bottle he had given her. He froze on the spot.
“…Kagan, how many of these did the Princess take today?”
“Medicine? She took three in front of me, and the maids attending her before the banquet encouraged her to take two more.”
“She took five pills?!”
The doctor, horrified, snapped his head around and shouted in disbelief.
