I Became a Barbarian's Bride - Chapter 81
The sensation of death was approaching, and it felt like her soul was flying away
For that fleeting moment, she endured the pain over and over again.
Thinking about how addictive that feeling was, Nisha slowly blinked as she took in the gradually changing scenery.
‘I’ll need to replenish my energy after using my abilities today.’
She reminded herself to save enough to ease Kagan’s eye pain.
‘And maybe, depending on the situation, I’ll ask about the seeds and Mary’s situation.’
Only three pills were left. After today, she would need to replenish them, but then there would be none left.
It used to be that one pill was enough, but now she needed three, which was a bit of a shame.
“You look amazing, Kagan!!”
“You look great!!”
“Take good care of Xieman, Katun!!”
Nisha was repeatedly pulled from her thoughts by the voices calling out from all directions, and she awkwardly smiled and nodded.
“So pretty!!”
Is this country always this blunt in everything they say?
She still wasn’t used to the way people openly shouted their thoughts.
Trying her best to keep a steady posture and not lean back, she forced herself to maintain a trembling smile.
“Princess, are you uncomfortable? You can lean on me a bit more if you’d like.”
“Hm? Oh, I thought you might be uncomfortable….”
“It’s fine, you can lean a little closer.”
Hearing the voice from behind, Nisha hesitated, then tried to relax and leaned against him slightly.
The cheers from the crowd grew even louder.
‘Ah. I need to put on a show.’
Thinking back, her father and brothers had always treated her affectionately during banquets with foreign envoys. Given the significance of the oracle, it made sense that Kagan needed to appear more affectionate toward her to solidify his position.
‘So that’s what this is about.’
Realizing she hadn’t caught on immediately, Nisha tried to relax her body further.
As she did, Kagan wrapped his strong arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him.
“You’re being good, Princess.”
He whispered softly as he lightly nipped at her earlobe.
It was just a playful bite, but the fact that he did it in front of so many onlookers made her face flush instantly.
The cheers grew even louder around them.
Thinking that she could never get used to the openness of this country, she carefully placed her hand over her pounding heart.
It wasn’t an indecent act, but it was somewhat embarrassing to do in such a public setting.
“This way.”
He said as he jumped down from the horse and easily lifted her down to the ground.
“Thank you.”
Hearing his wife’s consistent expression of gratitude, Kagan smiled quietly.
“There are about ten large plots in the capital that could be used for farming. You only need to do as much as you can today, Princess.”
“Depending on the size… I think I can manage them all.”
“Really? I’m curious about the extent of your abilities.”
Nisha kneeled and looked at the vast plot of land in front of her.
Though the ground was dry, there were sparse patches of plants, suggesting that it had been used for farming before.
It seemed that the soil had been turned over at some point, but it still looked barren and lacking in nutrients.
It was a large plot, but there was no need to inspect every inch of it.
“With this size, I think I can handle all ten plots.”
“I see.”
Nisha nodded and slowly walked toward the center of the field.
From there to the field, the knights had formed a circle around the plot, keeping civilians from entering.
The knights of Xieman, known for being particularly fierce and strong even among the warlike people of the nation, were more than capable of holding back the excited crowd.
Nisha settled in the center of the field and knelt down.
Kagan narrowed his eyes as he noticed the small stones pressing into her delicate, pale skin through the thin fabric. Without a word, he slipped his hand under her arm and effortlessly lifted her to her feet.
