I Became a Barbarian's Bride - Chapter 94
“What’s that? This pampered b*tch is out of their mind!”
The two women grabbed each other’s hair and then, without hesitation, began throwing punches.
“…?”
Nisha’s mouth hung open in shock. She had heard that women sometimes pulled hair during fights, but this was the first time she’d witnessed them throwing actual punches.
‘I’ve heard Xieman people are fiery and combative…’
But to think they’d skip the hair-pulling and jump straight to punching—it was beyond her expectations.
The two women’s eyes began to glow red, as if stained with blood.
Nisha had thought Kagan’s eyes were beautiful, but these? They resembled the eerie red eyes of a white lab rat.
It was unsettling.
Now, she understood why so many called them monsters on the battlefield.
Indeed, it was a bit unnerving to think they were the same people.
As Nisha stood there, unable to hide her bewilderment at the sudden fight, the other noblewomen awkwardly approached and surrounded her.
“We’re sorry. Lady Liri went a bit too far. She’s always followed Young Chief Arha closely…”
“Please don’t take her words about dying young to heart. There haven’t been that many Tuns chosen by prophecy anyway.”
“That’s right. Don’t worry, Kagan will always protect you…”
Hearing their hurried attempts to reassure her, Nisha tilted her head slightly.
She blinked once, then let out a low chuckle.
“Ahaha…”
The sound of Nisha’s soft, clear laughter, like drops of water falling, brought silence to the room. The women who had been fighting and those who were trying to console her quieted down.
“It’s fine.”
She waved her hand lightly as she stood from her seat.
“R-right, there’s nothing to worry about. After all, the prophecy is strong, and you are undoubtedly the Tun.”
“I mean it’s fine, no matter what was said.”
Nisha added with a faint smile, stepping back.
“Pardon?”
“Honestly, I came here today because I was curious about what the atmosphere was like. I apologize if I caused any disturbance.”
With a soft smile, she approached Liri, whose cheek was swollen from a hard punch, and placed her hand on it.
As she used her ability, a white light spread across Liri’s cheek, quickly healing the red, swollen area.
Nisha did the same for the young lady who had defended her, healing her wounds before speaking with a smile.
“I hope the next Tun after me is that lady from the Arha Clan.”
After all, once she had made all of Xieman’s land fertile, she wouldn’t be in the Tun’s position anymore.
“Huh? What do you mean by that…?”
“Hey, aren’t you going to apologize immediately?”
“I just said what was on my mind, why should I apologize?!”
Despite Liri’s flustered response, she couldn’t help but watch Nisha’s retreating figure, looking somehow lighter than when she had arrived.
‘I’m dead when Grandfather finds out.’
There was no way her actions wouldn’t reach Kagan’s ears.
It was obvious that as soon as she left, Liri would go and report every little thing that happened today.
‘Ugh, my head is so hot, seriously…’
Liri roughly shook her disheveled hair and frowned.
She hadn’t intended to go as far as mentioning sacrifices or anything like that.
But seeing the pale woman, looking as fragile as if she could die at any moment, not even remotely afraid, was infuriating.
“Liri, I’ll be reporting this to the Kagan, just so you know!”
“Go ahead! It’s not like she won’t tell him first anyway, so what’s the point?”
Liri shouted loudly for her to hear, but Nisha didn’t look back even once as she left the banquet hall.
Meanwhile, after leaving the banquet hall, Nisha walked slowly, lost in thought, before boarding the carriage.
At first, they had wanted to carry her in some kind of palanquin, which startled her, so Kagan had it switched to a carriage.
She climbed in slowly, closing the door, and gently opened the window as the carriage rattled along.
It was only now that she began to understand what Adin, the unknown god of Xieman, wanted from her.
The power to revive dead land.
In other words, it meant she could bring back even the dead.
‘This is clearly not a power meant for humans.’
But Nisha hadn’t realized this until now, since she had only ever used her power to heal small ailments.
If Adin truly was a god for Xieman, then she had come here for this purpose from the beginning.
It meant that the word “sacrifice” wasn’t exactly wrong.
