I Became A Renowned Arts Genius At My Arts High School - Chapter 8
At Kim Yoon Su’s call, each class leader quickly moved forward.
“Take four sheets of paper, cut it into the same size, and make new entries for the draw. Then, write the names of the eight sculptures on each note in order and fold them to the same size… Hmm, that’s good. Bring that black plastic bag. Let’s put them in there and do the draw. Is that okay?”
“…Yes.”
“Yes.”
Kim Yoon Su gave clear instructions, neatly organizing the situation. He glanced at Choi Hyeong Uk, asked for his belated permission.
“Can we proceed this way, sir?”
“Uh, yes. Let’s do that. Because the exam is important right now.”
A face drained of color, yet seething with anger. However, at this moment, there was no choice but for him to follow those words.
Murmuring.
The suspicion among the kids had grown to the point where it had to be addressed. If something wasn’t done, the school would be noisy for a while. Frustration surged at the thought of all that he had secretly prepared was going to waste, and complaints from parents who handed out donations loomed, but for now, retreating seemed to be the right move.
So, Choi Hyeong Uk reluctantly yielded. Grinding his teeth, a new lottery box was created.
“Well, it’s a bit crude, but it’s made in front of everyone. Does everyone approve?”
“Yes.”
“We saw it clearly!”
“It’s already 1:20 PM. We’ve been delayed for quite a while. We need to start the exam quickly. Now, who wants to come forward and draw?”
Kim Yoon Su took over the proceedings. Quietly getting up from his chair, Choi Hyeong Uk, holding the lottery box, glared at the kids with a piercing gaze.
Looks like he’s ready to explode.
At this point, Soo-hyun’s heart skipped a beat.
‘The tide has really turned, and this time it’s a fair test.’
***
30 minutes earlier, during lunch break.
Soohyun left the cafeteria early, and moved discreetly to check the lottery box. If the eight notes inside had only Caligula written on them, the plan was to discreetly swap them with genuine entries.
The problem was that security was tighter than expected. The lottery box was stored in Choi Hyeong Uk’s office, making it difficult to access.
So, Soohyun came up with another plan.
“Anonymous notes. Let’s send them. About Caligula appearing in the exam.”
Ideally, she wanted to write and send 138 to all the students in the Art Department, but there wasn’t enough time. Soohyun wrote brief notes with her left hand to conceal her handwriting and discreetly placed them in the lockers of outgoing students who were likely to take the lead in publicizing the matter.
And the prediction turned out to be spot on. Starting with Cha Yoon-hee, the students who received the notes came forward, raising suspicions that someone had intervened in this exam.
If the lottery box had been genuine, Choi Hyeong Uk would have immediately proved his innocence on the spot. However, judging by the atmosphere, it was clear that Kim Hayoung’s drunken bragging in the past was indeed true.
Anyway…
“I’ll give it a try.”
Pushing down the strangely overwhelming emotions, Soohyun slowly raised her hand.
“Alright. Han Soohyun, come forward.”
Kim Yoon Su called out to Soohyun,
“Wow, Han Soohyun. Strong heart.”
“Hand of God! Please pick an easy one!”
The kids, more concerned about the upcoming exam than the recent unfortunate incident, sent a mix of admiration and cheers.
Swoosh…
Soohyun reached into the makeshift lottery box, a black plastic bag.
Rustle.
She picked a note. And…
“Julian.”
He unfolded the paper and read the contents.
“It’s Julian.”
At the same time,
“Wow!”
“Yeah! It’s Julian!”
“Han Soohyun, the best!”
“I love Han Soohyun!”
When the relatively easy and familiar sculpture was announced, the kids cheered and jumped around as if they had won the lottery. At the same time, the faces of Choi Hyeong Uk, Kim Hayoung, and a few others involved in this dishonest plot twisted unpleasantly, but it was none of Soohyun’s business.
Soohyun’s focus was entirely on the future life that would be completely different from the past.
