- Chapter 9 - The Atmosphere of Finals
Square, square. Swish, swish, swish.
In the practical exam room, the testing had begun. The room was filled with the busy sound of pencils moving rapidly.
Thump, thump, thump.
The tapping and pounding sound of erasers striking the paper on the board, erasing something.
Although everyone was approaching the practical exam with a tense mindset,
“Ugh, this sucks.”
Kim Hayoung couldn’t concentrate at all.
She had firmly believed that Caligula would appear on the final exam, and she had prepared for weeks by focusing on that single plaster, but unexpectedly, Julian appeared.
Caught off guard, she felt bewildered and angry.
“Who on earth would do such a thing?”
Her thoughts kept wandering.
Having observed everything on the scene, it was full of inexplicable occurrences.
“Ugh, f*ck it. This exam was supposed to be straight As, but now Julian, who everyone makes well, comes out. What’s this?”
She felt like screaming in frustration. However, if she did that, everyone would treat her like a crazy b*tch. So, she clung to the last remaining thread of reason and endured.
The problem was that with her mind racing like that, even Julian, who draws everything well, wouldn’t be drawn properly.
“Why is this happening, seriously?”
Bam, bam, bam.
Kim Hayoung nervously tapped the eraser, removing the wrong shapes.
“This is driving me crazy.”
The clock was already pointing to 2 o’clock. She had to finish the shapes within the next 15 minutes to add shading and highlights. However, her emotions were running wild, and her usual skills, which weren’t that great to begin with, weren’t coming out at all.
“Of all the places, it had to be this one.”
The seat was also a problem. The seat assigned through the lottery just before entering the classroom was number 10.
The second row, completely on the right side.
Of all the places, she got a challenging seat where even a slight miscalculation could distort the shapes significantly. It’s easy to make the neck look short, so she needed to use vanishing points and contrast properly, but it’s a problem that can be solved with one’s hands, not head.
“Haah.”
After blotting the shapes she didn’t like several times, the paper became thin and rough, and the pencil refused to cooperate properly.
“F*ck…”
Kim Hayoung muttered curses under her breath. She felt that she had definitely failed this exam.
Nevertheless, everything was a consequence of her own actions.
Even though the exam landscape had changed thanks to Soohyun’s cunning, her own skill was originally at that level, so she couldn’t really blame anyone.

“What’s going on here?”
Several teachers gathered at the end of the hallway after the students had been dismissed to the practice room and brought up what had happened earlier.
“Who could have sent such notes?”
“That’s right. Well, this is the first time something like this has happened in the first year. It’s shocking.”
“Yeah, since the school’s founding, nothing like this has ever happened. It’s a big shock, really.”
The more experienced teachers grumbled, and the younger ones nodded, but that was it. Some of the teachers were unable to get to the bottom of the incident.
“Well, Teacher Choi Hyeong Uk will check and let us know what happened.”
A junior colleague of Choi Hyeong Uk, a male teacher, subtly smoothed over the situation and signaled to go out to smoke, leaving the matter there.
“Yeah, what can we solve by gossiping here?”
“That’s right. Teacher Choi will explain later.”
Some teachers nodded and left to smoke.
Kim Yoon Su watched them with a meaningful look.
“Suspicious.”
