I Became the Older Brother of a Villainess - Chapter 12.2
Covering my mouth and nose with my hands, I made a continuous “Ugh” sound. It felt like doing this would somehow alleviate the unpleasantness.
“I didn’t want to know so much about why Necromancers are an unpopular profession.”
Eager to catch my breath, I quickly returned to the base camp. Dandel and the coachman were already preparing food, with a campfire blazing in the crude black pot. Warm steam wafted from it, filling the air with a savory aroma. Somehow, the image of the Death Door I saw earlier came to mind, and my appetite vanished.
“Your Excellency! Are you just now returning? I’ll prepare a meal right away!”
“No, it’s okay. I don’t have an appetite.”
“Oh! Was your journey difficult? I should have been more attentive; I’m really sorry.”
“No, it’s fine. I’ll rest inside.”
I entered the carriage and slouched my body roughly, feeling like I could rest a bit. Though still dizzy, I gathered my thoughts and checked the status screen. It was to confirm the Spirit List.

“Sugar Princess?”
What a laughable name for a Spirit.
“I wonder if there will be a place to use her later on…”
I tried to practice the skill a bit more, but my eyelids kept drooping. Using magic seemed exhausting, and I didn’t even want to lift a finger. I shouldn’t fall asleep like this… I need to find a usable Spirit… Ah, I don’t know. Let’s just take a nap for now.

Throughout the night, the status window chimed continuously, but I was too tired to pay much attention and fell asleep. The use of mana consumed more stamina than I had anticipated. Whenever I tried to use skills again, my body felt heavy with fatigue.
Well, since waking up in Cierra’s body until now, I haven’t properly rested. After attending the funeral and immediately organizing the employees, I kept myself busy reviewing what I knew about the game.
Maybe the habit of working tirelessly in the past is still ingrained in me. It might be good to take a short break until I find the Warrior Pippin. That’s what my team leader used to say during the courier loading and unloading days: Resting is also a skill.
After dozing off inside the carriage for about half a day, I finally snapped out of it near the entrance of the village.
“What’s going on?”
Outside the carriage, there was a commotion. I decided to open the window and see what was happening outside.
“You can’t enter the village.”
“What are you talking about? Who is here right now, Ash?”
“No one is allowed to enter at the moment!”
The coachman and one of the guards were engaged in a heated argument. The guard shouted angrily, “There’s a commotion caused by monsters in the village right now! It’s too dangerous to accept guests!”
Whether the statement was true or not, from inside the village, there echoed an unsettling sound, like heavy footsteps. It was the ominous sound of a massive presence roaming the village. Amidst that, an unmistakable voice could be heard.
“Pippin! Pippin! Don’t go that way! This guy is crazy!”
It was the entrance of the hero.
To think I would meet Hero Pippin right away! How fortunate.
It seemed there was a commotion inside, and I thought I could use it as an excuse to send Pippin to the abyss. To do that, I first needed to find out what kind of disturbance had occurred.
I quickly leaped outside the carriage.
Dandel tried to grab me in surprise, but I deftly avoided her. Then, I headed straight towards the guard.
“Open the door immediately.”
I was curious!
“Hey, young one! Step back! There are ordinary monsters inside right now—”
As the guard approached me, the coachman shouted at him.
“That’s Glutoni Duke! Follow his orders immediately!”
“What? The inscription on the carriage… Oh! My apologies! Are you the Duke?”
The guard hurriedly added strength and opened the door. As the heavy wooden door swung open, the eerie face of a creature revealed itself. We all took a few steps back. When we confirmed the identity of the commotion, our foreheads wrinkled.
“A monster? That’s a monster!”
The colossal body reminded me of an old villa. The mismatched soft eyeballs were no bigger than a small car, and the massive horns scraped the ground like construction equipment.
“Kuoooooo!” The scratching sound of its throat sent shivers down my spine. It was the first time witnessing a monster, yet it didn’t feel unfamiliar. It was the one I had encountered as an enemy in the game.
The Black Field Bison, Viridis. It’s a mid-to-late-game monster, boasting a simple but powerful attack pattern, incredible stamina, and formidable defense. Known for its habit of living in herds in the meadows of the recluse’s land.
This means it’s not the kind of monster you’d encounter in places like the ‘Beginner’s Village.’ Otherwise, I might end up getting killed.
“Dandel! Let’s run!”
