I Became the Older Brother of a Villainess - Chapter 13.1
As Vilidis forcefully kicked open the village gate, she swept the ground with the tip of her horn. The earth shook as if there were an earthquake, and the carriage we were riding in flipped over from the impact. Horses foamed at the mouth, lifting their front hooves in distress.
While the coachman attended to the horses, I dragged Dandel behind and hid behind the overturned carriage. Dandel, clinging to me, whimpered softly against my shoulder.
“Duke! Are we going to die here? Monsters! There are still so many things I haven’t experienced….”
“Close your mouth. We need to think.”
I covered Dandel’s mouth and observed Vilidis. Blood vessels shone behind her round eyes. Harsh breaths escaped through her nostrils, stirring up sand in the air.
“She is smelling something….”
“smell? What kind of smell are you talking about? If it’s the smell of death, She might certainly…”
“I’m talking about the scent of the target. And I told you to keep your mouth shut.”
What she was smelling wasn’t the scent of death. She was searching for the scent of the target.
Among the monsters, Vilidis boasts a massive build. Thanks to that, her field of vision is limited.
The large eyeballs are too primitive to effectively search for targets smaller than herself. So, instead of those big, round eyes, she relies on her nostrils.
I need to find the target. If I can find the target and move in the opposite direction, this side will be safe.
While scanning the surroundings, Vilidis raised her shoulders. With a heavy yet agile movement, her horn shifted. We were inside the village.
The target is still inside the village.
There’s a high probability that the target is Pippin.
Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been such a desperate voice calling for Pippin from inside the village earlier.
“Perhaps they were luring the monster from inside the village to the outside. Quite righteous. Are they posing as heroes in appearance?”
So, are they going to sweet-talk the Crown Prince in the future and betray Daria? Hah, after letting out a snort, I turned my head towards Dandel.
“Dandel! Ride the mountain path to the left behind me and escape into the village.”
“Pass by that monster?”
“The monster will follow the path we came from. So listen to me. Secure a hideout inside in advance.”
I grabbed Dandel by the back and threw him far away.
As Dandel was about to scream and call me, Vilidis flicked her ear, then Dandel covered his mouth with both hands.
Afterward, he bent his waist and whispered as if murmuring, “Let’s go together…”
“You go first. I have something to wait for.”
Even without using much force, it was a golden opportunity to lead Pippin into the trap.
Pippin, the novice hero, recklessly confronting the monster and losing his life in a ‘tragedy.’ A perfect scenario.
Making Vilidis attack Pippin was simple. Using a firework, I could divert Vilidis’s attention and fixate it on Pippin.
That stupid monster is probably going to charge towards the sound.
A boy who digs potatoes from this beginner village won’t be able to withstand Vilidis’s attack.
“Sorry, but accept it as fate.”
Lucky as soon as we arrived in the village.
“Dandel.”
“Yes, yes…”
“After fleeing into the village, there’s something you need to do.
“There should be a black-haired guy near Vilidis. Throw a stone in that direction.”
“What? Throw a stone towards a black-haired guy? Not at a deer, but towards a person?”
“Yeah, a person. Black hair, slightly younger than me. Throw a stone at him to divert the monster’s attention in that direction.”
Simultaneously, I need to confirm Pippin’s whereabouts. But I can’t overlook Dandel’s timidity.
“Duke! How could I do something like that!”
After firmly grabbing Dandel by the collar, I whispered in his ear.
“Don’t you want to live? If we don’t do this, that deer-like Vilidis will enter the village and kill many people. There’s no other way to lure the monster outside.”
“That’s…!”
“It’s not a cowardly act. You’re just diverting the monster’s attention away. It’s to save people.”
“What about that guy then! It might be dangerous if the monster’s attention is focused on him!”
“Don’t worry. He’s strong enough to win against a deer. I know him well. Trust and follow my plan; it’s all part of it.”
For some reason, Dandel’s favorability increased. How can he survive in this harsh world with such innocence?
Dandel nodded vigorously, he crossed the bush-covered hill like a monkey.
I crawled in the direction Dandel was heading. Planning to attack once I spotted Pippin, hidden in the bushes.
Kuuuwooooo.
Vilidis scraped her horns on the ground, stirring up a sandstorm.
The surroundings became unclear. The commotion inside the village subsided with one sweep of Vilidis’s hooves.
How long have I been waiting?
Vilidis suddenly lifted her horn and turned her head. Something had instantly captured her attention.
“It’s Dandel!”
Just as I was about to move to find Pippin,
[<Sweet Legion>’s Revelation: Hungry.]
In an incomprehensible status window, my steps came to a halt.
“Sweet Legion? Is it a skill? I’ve never seen this before.”
I quickly checked the status window, and unexpectedly, there was something called ‘Sweet Legion’ in the list of summoned mounts. Sugar Princess had changed to Sugar Sovereign.
“What’s this?”
[Hungry]
[Hungry]
[Hungry]
[Hungry]
[Hungry]
The status window relentlessly displayed new screens. It was to the point where I couldn’t see anything in front of me.
“What is it? What is it!”
There was no time to use other skills. The status window overflowed to the extent that it obstructed my view.
Change of plans! Anyway, Sweet Legion was my summoned mount, right? First, I need to summon it to organize the status window.
“Death’s Door!”
