I Became the Only Healer in the Academy - Chapter 10.1
The homeroom teacher gazed at the gate with a vacant, almost otherworldly look in his eyes.
The gate appeared black, a shade that seemed awkwardly dark, almost as if it had holes, and it implied nothing but misfortune.
“Pro-Professor?”
“A gate…mutation?”
Seeing the homeroom teacher not displaying a calm demeanor, it was impossible for the students to remain calm.
“W-What should we do?”
“Professor!”
“Uh, well, for now, let’s tidy up the front line…!”
As soon as the teacher mentioned that, whether to inform about the actual mutation or because the internal environment was changing, things began to shift.
The sparse trees in the distance gradually grew filling, and the bright sky started to give way to the approaching dusk.
“They’ll definitely have detected the mutation at the Association!”
When a gate mutates, it emits different wavelengths than usual, and those wavelengths are what the Association is most vigilant about, therefore, people from the Association would arrive soon.
The problem was to live through this until then.
“But…”
And it seemed they had no intention of making it easy, as the voices of goblins started coming from all around.
“Just a little, just a little longer! Once the Association arrives, we can surely leave without any issues!”
Once a gate mutates, hunters can’t leave.
But others could enter.
However, even after entering, they couldn’t immediately meet those who had entered.
After the transformation, all remaining creatures must be defeated to create a passage to the transformed gate. Even then, they needed to find the gate, so it required time.
“If we just hold on…!”
The homeroom teacher couldn’t regain his composure at all.
Even though he had gone on numerous gates so far, facing a mutation was a first-time experience in his life.
They all only saw it through the news, so they were in a complete panic.
‘It was just like this…’
The homeroom teacher simply demanded the students to hold on, and those who had maintained the front line crumbled little by little, unprepared for the unexpected situation.
In the first place, the academy’s instructors had their designated roles.
The instructors responsible for combat training and ability training were usually hunter graduates themselves.
However, their current homeroom teacher isn’t the same case.
The homeroom teacher had started as a university professor for some reason, only to step down from that position and begin a career as a Hunter.
While he had exceptional teaching abilities, his combat abilities were far from impressive, rather lacking.
He had no intention of stepping forward, but if they continued like this, a third of the people in this position would die.
Seonghyun had prearranged for Association personnel to be on standby, time is the only problem.
“Everyone, snap out of it! Front, be prepared for the enemy’s location and ambush! Rear, prioritize enemy elimination!”
Even with Seonghyun’s shout, the students still hadn’t fully regained their composure and were looking around in confusion.
Then, from somewhere, a deep voice could be heard.
“Tonight’s dinner will be quite plentiful.”
Using human language only for communication, its appearance was vastly different.
It was the goblin chieftain, walking arrogantly and menacingly.
“A G-Goblin?”
“What kind of physique is that…!”
It was quite different from the goblins they were familiar with.
If it weren’t for the characteristic green skin and bald head of goblins, it would be hard to believe it was a goblin.
Its size and ability to converse with humans were beyond what anyone would expect.
“I don’t know why humans are here, but they’ve intruded into our territory and slaughtered our warriors. I guess we have to declare war.”
“W-We didn’t mean to…”
The homeroom teacher stuttered and denied it wasn’t like that, but it was pointless.
“Goblin warriors! Let’s enjoy tonight’s dinner with the blood of the humans who slaughtered our allies!”
“Kraaah!”
As conversation was possible, there was no room for persuasion.
As soon as the chieftain finished speaking, the warriors revealed themselves from the bushes.
“If you don’t want to die, get your act together! The goblin’s weak points are the neck! And… the right shoulder!”
“…One interesting human we have here.”
The goblins that appeared after the gate mutated were enhanced goblins under the command of the goblin chieftain.
The method of enhancement was an unknown substance embedded in their right shoulder, and destroying it had an effect similar to cutting the throat.
“Capture that human alive. He might be useful later.”
“Kraaah!”
The chieftain pointed directly at Seonghyun and gave the order, and the warriors immediately rushed towards the students.
“Stop them! Stop them!”
The homeroom teacher drew his sword and stayed in the rearmost position.
“The front line will buy us time, and ranged dealers will take care of the eliminations!”
The orders were Seonghyun’s.
“Yes… Who are you to give orders!?”
“That’s right! Are you giving orders because you think you can survive as a support?!”
However, the response was cold. It seemed that even in such a dire situation, they were not willing to easily follow Seonghyun’s orders, perhaps finding them unpleasant.
‘If this doesn’t work…!’
Then, a familiar voice was heard.
