I Became the Only Healer in the Academy - Chapter 19.1
It wasn’t entirely an unexpected reaction.
If Seonghyun hadn’t healed, would they all really have died right there? Even if Seonghyun hadn’t healed, wouldn’t it have ended with just some minor injuries? That doubt was always there as a basic premise.
Given the support from the association, it wasn’t really far-fetched to think like this.
Those who had expressed gratitude to Seonghyun before were the ones enduring the enemy’s attacks at the forefront, and now the ones bandaged up were the ones who had been from the rear.
‘It was kind of expected.’
Until just the first semester, he had shown no presence whatsoever, but after receiving a perfect score in the test evaluating physical abilities based on healing abilities alone, with no combat abilities.
“Now that the last team has also finished, the first test concludes here. Well done, everyone. You may proceed directly to the site for the second test.”
Once the proctor finished speaking, everyone moved along for the next test.
The second test site was the ability training room within the academy.
The academy’s combat training rooms were made more special than any training rooms.
The ones entering the academy were strictly selected based on their talents, and as such, while they might not be adept at handling abilities, they were fairly capable.
“Welcome. Did everyone do well in the first test?”
However, there was one difference from Seonghyun’s memory.
It was the change in the proctor.
“Is it because of that disciplinary action?”
Normally, the homeroom teacher should have conducted the second test.
“We’ve already announced, but just to make sure, let me briefly inform you.”
The proctor stood next to a specially made black scarecrow made of a high-density material, continuing to speak.
“The second test assesses the utilization of abilities. The scarecrow beside me is made of a highly durable material refined from crystal stones.”
The proctor drew out the sword and struck the scarecrow with all their might, yet the scarecrow stood firm, emitting only a slight noise.
“While it appears unaffected by physical impact from the sword…”
The proctor then sheathed the sword and grabbed the scarecrow’s head.
Immediately, an explosion resounded, and as the thickened smoke dissipated, the scarecrow, previously black, now displayed a bright red color.
“This is how the color changes due to the impact of an ability. Although it’s red now, the fewer the points of contact and the stronger the impact, the closer the color gets to purple. Just take rainbow colors as a reference and keep that in mind. Let’s begin the test now.”
The second test proceeded in order of performance.
If the first test was based on the previous semester’s performance, the second test was based on the results of the first test.
“Now, let’s see where the first test results are…”
The proctor checked the paper listing the first test results, which had been handed over in order of ranking.
“The top spot is… Kim… Seonghyun?”
Seeing a name that shouldn’t have been at the top, the proctor furrowed their brow, even flipping the paper to check the back and turning it around to confirm.
“Ahem. Student Kim Seonghyun? Please come forward.”
Seonghyun stepped forward at the call.
The stares from behind felt rather piercing.
“Student Kim Seonghyun has healing abilities…”
Even the proctor was contemplating.
Seonghyun’s ability was one that couldn’t be applied to the scarecrow.
“Well, I suppose nothing would be done…”
The proctor drew their sword again.
Then, placing a finger on it, smiling at Seonghyun, they asked,
“Just in case, there won’t be any scars, right?”
Seonghyun also smiled and replied,
“No.”
The proctor lifted the blade from their finger to their wrist.
Without a hint of hesitation, they made a cut around their wrist.
“Please ensure there won’t be any scars, Doctor.”
The proctor was well aware of Seonghyun’s side effects.
How many among those who knew of Seonghyun’s existence didn’t know about the side effects?
Yet there were reasons why it left quite deep wounds.
‘The looks I receive aren’t exactly kind.’
It was the gazes from those behind.
It seemed like there were biases in grading, considering the rarity of the ability.
‘From what I’ve experienced…’
Even after directly experiencing the greatness of healing from the mutated gate, it was evident these individuals lacked substantial practical experience.
“Let’s begin.”
Seonghyun promptly healed the wound on the proctor’s wrist.
‘It certainly affects proficiency.’
But at this point, there was no need to focus too much on such small injuries.
A fleeting moment of slight stinging pain passed.
[Sacrificial Spirit has enhanced the physical abilities.]
[Sage’s Exclusive Daily Quest completed.]
[Proficiency of healing ability increased.]
Today’s daily quest was cleared too.
“Oh…”
The proctor looked down at their perfectly healed wrist.
Given the extent of the wound just moments ago, it was impossible for it not to leave a scar. Yet, in that brief moment, not only did the scar vanish, but even the pain disappeared.
“Incredible…”
After flexing their hand a couple of times, the proctor recorded Seonghyun’s score in the section for the results of the second test.
“Student Kim Seonghyun has finished the second test. You may return to your seats now.”
The second test progressed much faster than the first.
Each participant showcased their abilities, received their scores, and once the second test concluded, everyone dispersed.
“The test results will be announced tomorrow. That concludes today’s class.”
Seonghyun rose from his seat to leave, but someone approached him.
