I Became the Only Healer in the Academy - Chapter 26.2
“…”
Before opening his mouth to speak, Jinseok took action.
Kneeling on the spot, Jinseok looked at Seonghyun.
Judging by the perplexed and surprised expression in Seonghyun’s eyes as he looked down at him, it seemed that Jinseok’s unexpected approach was not anticipated.
“Please, I beg you.”
“W-What…”
“My parents, they are under a curse.”
“A curse…?”
Seonghyun quickly grasped the situation.
He already knew the identity of the mutant monster and even knew where it appeared.
That meant the man kneeling before him had tried to defeat the mutant monster, and as a result, his parents were cursed.
“That’s…”
Jinseok briefly explained the situation, and it was exactly as Seonghyun had expected.
“Please…”
Jinseok could only utter the word “please.”
Seonghyun was also a hunter, and as a hunter, he would likely know what kind of curse it was.
Moreover, the pain experienced by Jinseok’s non-hunter parents would be on a different level than the pain felt by a hunter.
Asking someone who had no understanding of that pain to feel it on their behalf was no different from asking the impossible, so the words didn’t come easily.
“I will give you anything you want. Anything I have, I will give it to you immediately, and if I don’t have it, I will do whatever it takes.”
“Um… even if you say that, there may be nothing I can do.”
“H-Huh…?”
Seonghyun’s ability was healing.
Reflecting on the description of the healing ability, it all boiled down to the ability to heal even small wounds without a trace.
“You know that curses and wounds are different, right?”
“W-Well, I thought…”
“My ability is healing. Dealing with curses… seems difficult.”
Jinseok and his friend had not anticipated this.
Healing wounds and breaking curses were distinctly different domains.
“So, I…”
However, what was anticipated and receiving a definite answer were different realms.
The despair that Jinseok had been trying hard to ignore manifested itself, and now, completely devoid of any remaining hope, Jinseok knelt down, unable to rise, and cast his gaze to the floor.
What should he do now?
Was there really no solution left?
Should he continue in this helpless situation, unable to hold onto or let go of his parents?
“…If it’s just confirmation…”
“Are you…?”
Seonghyun extended his hand to Jinseok, who was still kneeling.
“At least stand up.”
“…”
Jinseok lowered his gaze to the floor again for a moment, as if needing a brief moment of composure.
Seonghyun patiently waited with his hand extended, and soon, Jinseok grabbed Seonghyun’s hand and rose.
“Thank you. Thank you so much.”
“I don’t think it’s time for thanks yet. I’ll go talk to my team before we leave.”
“Yes. Once again… thank you.”
Seonghyun headed straight for Sang-yeon and Inhwan.
“Did you finish? What did he say?”
“It’s obvious. He’s asking for help to save someone who’s injured.”
“It’s a rough situation.”
Seonghyun briefly explained the situation, and Inhwan nodded in agreement.
“Well, we can’t help it. Are we meeting tomorrow then?”
“Probably.”
“…Then see you again tomorrow.”
Once the team’s understanding was secured, Seonghyun immediately followed Jinseok towards the hospital.
No further conversation took place until they reached the hospital. Seonghyun simply followed Jinseok’s hurried steps to the hospital room.
Upon arriving at the room, Seonghyun, without exchanging words, stood before Jinseok’s parents.
‘Although their expressions seem relaxed, it’s not the case at all.’
From appearances alone, there seemed to be no issue, but Seonghyun could feel it. At this moment, they had entered unconsciousness to escape from pain.
“I-I it possible?”
Seonghyun raised his hand to the foreheads of Jinseok’s parents and immediately activated his healing ability.
“…”
“…”
A momentary silence hung in the air, but there was no change in Seonghyun’s expression.
‘Something’s off.’
Certainly, he felt pain. However, the magnitude was by no means sufficient to claim that the curse had been lifted.
‘Is it just alleviating the current pain?’
Seonghyun continued to use his healing ability to reduce the level of pain to a bearable extent. Gradually, the intensity of the pain diminished.
“What? What happened?”
“…Let’s go outside and talk.”
Although he tapped the curtain of the hospital bed, considering the presence of other patients and their guardians, Seonghyun, along with Jinseok and his friend, went outside.
“This is the first time I’ve encountered something like this. Perhaps, for now, alleviating the pain they’re currently experiencing is the best I can do.”
“Ah…”
Jinseok’s expression held a mix of relief, regret, despair, and hope.
“Continuing to use it, at some point, I didn’t feel any pain. We might need to try it again tomorrow.”
While Seonghyun could have used his materialization ability to give medicine and leave, in a case like this, where he encountered something unfamiliar, he wanted to confirm with his own eyes.
“Will you come again tomorrow?”
“Well, yeah… I suppose I should.”
Jinseok looked at Seonghyun, biting his lower lip.
His expression seemed to carry a lot of unsaid words, yet he appeared hesitant, as if wondering if even that would be a hindrance to Seonghyun.
“Thank you…”
“When everything is resolved, you can thank me then.”
Seonghyun anticipated coming back tomorrow and left. Jinseok’s friend, who was waiting outside, approached Jinseok after confirming Seonghyun’s departure.
“Are you okay?”
“What wouldn’t be okay? If he could alleviate even a bit of the pain… I can be satisfied with that.”
Certainly, Jinseok’s expression had significantly improved.
While a moment ago, his face reflected a surrender to everything, now it mirrored the expression of someone who had found hope.
“I’ll go see them too.”
“Yeah. Come to think of it, I didn’t thank you properly. Thank you so much.”
“No need for thanks. I’m going.”
As Jinseok, who had been about to enter while smoking a cigarette, put the cigarette back into his pocket, he returned to the hospital room.
However, an unbelievable scene unfolded in the room.
“Ugh…”
“Ah, Father…?”
His father had just awakened. And soon after, his mother regained consciousness too.
