I Became the Younger Sister of the Game's Villain - Chapter 12.2
The pressure began to press down on my body like high altitude.
My body felt heavy.
A massive sound like a ship’s horn blared from the sky.
The nape of my neck instinctively bristled with the danger.
A huge shadow loomed overhead.
‘Is this for real?’
Thump, thump, thump, thump.
As if it was a signal, the ground began to violently shake, making it hard to keep my balance.
Lowering my center of gravity, I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the pitch-black hole in the sky, reminiscent of a black hole.
Thump, thump.
Globs of yellow, viscous substance with nothing but maws began to fall from above.
Not just fall, but pouring right above me.
‘Maullas.’
And of all things, it had to be the top-tier monster from an A-ranked portal.
A+ liquid species, Maullas.
As soon as I realized the situation, my thighs tensed up.
I started running like mad.
I clumsily followed the direction where the crowd had clustered.
My breath was ragged, reaching the brink of my throat. Even as my throat prickled and my lungs felt crushed, I couldn’t stop.
The acrid smell of iron slowly enveloping all my senses.
Screams were getting closer. Really.
Could it really be that
‘No one has stopped it yet?’
With every turn of my head, I saw swollen dragon-like bodies sliding and charging.
Thin, redundant appendages dangled grotesquely from their sides.
They respond solely to the ‘scent’ of humans.
I don’t know how they sense it without noses, but hiding was futile.
Unlike other superior monsters, these creatures devoid of intelligence would trample and swallow even their kind.
Splatter.
Sticky, dark red liquid clung to the sole of my shoe.
People running alongside me kept getting snatched back, disappearing from my view.
Crunch, crunch.
The sound of bones being crushed was eerily close. Why, why is it like this?
“F**k..”
“Flame!”
I hurled a fireball into the gaping maw that had nearly reached me.
My hair stood.
It’s fast.
And aggressive.
Its sharp fangs stretched to the roof of its mouth, rattling with unchewed flesh.
The difference in grades was too great.
I knew my attacks were barely effective.
This move was made for the purpose of creating an insignificant knockback effect.
Even the slightest change in direction would have given me room to dodge.
But it’s not enough.
‘There’s a limit.’
A wave of nausea surged up.
A man running in front of me tripped and fell.
For a moment, our eyes met.
“H-help…”
His face contorted in horror.
Unconsciously, I stopped running, but my body didn’t move.
Could I?
Can I save him?
In the few seconds of hesitation, I knew it was already too late.
was going to save him, I should have moved instantly.
I knew this but didn’t go.
My body, once taught the lesson of fear, continued to tremble and stiffen.
Me. I am not.
“It’s not like I’m the hero of this game.
I’m not.
Fear and guilt surged within me.
The Maulla’s maw opened wide, ready to engulf the man’s head. I shut my eyes tightly.
Just do it.
A voice screamed in my head.
Hero or not, I wanted to try anything I could.
Then, without thinking, my actions led.
I threw the fireball with all my might into the creature’s gaping mouth.
The cold sensation didn’t leave my fingertips.
And then,
Clang―!!!
…Clang?
It wasn’t the sound of flesh being torn, but a sharp metallic noise.
I opened my eyes wide as if hearing a sound of salvation.
A sword hilt stuck vertically between the Maulla’s jaws.
Creak, screech. But the sword soon bent in half under the Maulla’s crushing force.
The owner of the sword, calmly drawing another weapon, faced off against the Maulla.
His name slipped from my lips.
“…Yoon San Young?”
His gaze, as if he had seen a ghost, turned towards me.
I felt the same way.
Yoon San Young.
A young traveler who had fallen smack dab into the middle of South Korea, from another dimension to Earth.
He was the culprit behind the channel to this planet, the hero of the damned narrative, the one who had to take responsibility for his mistakes.
In whichever playable route, Yoon San Young was always there, confronting the final boss.
In short, he was,
‘The starting point of this game.’
Of course, there was no reason Yoon San Young shouldn’t be here.
Akka and the current situation were different; I wasn’t tracking every character’s location…
It wasn’t like I hadn’t considered the possibility of them being scattered across various parts of the map.
But.
But.
‘This is too unexpected, too sudden, isn’t it?’
I was so confused that I could only gape.
However, my brief moment of contemplation ended there.
The Maullas, like a wave, surged forward.
The dark maw of the Maulla opened again.
“Go, now!”
Yoon San Young struggled to fend off the creature’s attack while shouting to the man still on the ground.
The man scrambled to his feet and hurriedly disappeared.
After ensuring the man’s safety, Yoon San Young glanced back at me and gestured forward with his chin.
That was clearly a signal to leave.
I hesitate, my blood pumping, and he follows me at a reasonable distance.
That’s fine, but.
‘What are you staring at?’
