I Did a Good Job For the Villain's Early Education - Chapter 47.1
Chapter 47.1
That’s why she takes on jobs without pay.
‘How has she even survived for a thousand years?’
It was a mystery.
‘Well, I’m happy to take advantage of it.’
Wasn’t this rather generous treatment for an assassin?
‘Should I send her to the fire department instead?’
Despite her enthusiastic offer to help, Avel had no grand plan. She winged her own life; why should anyone else’s be different?
“Hmm, first. We need to define ‘saving,’ right?”
“Yes.”
“Let’s start there….”
“My lady! My lady! A telegram from the master!”
Avel quickly snatched the paper. Elegant handwriting filled the short message: [Arriving within five days.]
“Father is coming soon.”
“Oh, really! Sooner than expected… Oh dear! Then the bedroom needs attention, and the garden needs tending!” The servant, reciting a litany of tasks, dashed off. Soon, cries of “Oh dear!” echoed intermittently from down the hall.
“Sedna.”
“Yes?”
“First, we need to save this mansion, don’t we?”
“Uh….”
“Go and help them.”
“Huh?”
“You’re part of the household too. I’ll go out and buy new curtains.”
Avel physically steered the hesitant woman towards the hallway. The desperate servants swiftly whisked the physician away.

‘Is it almost time for the lesson to end?’
Avel, on her way to the market, changed course and headed towards the Academy. Her sky-blue skirt swayed gently in the spring breeze.
‘Father. Hehe. Father’s coming.’
A rosy blush warmed her cheeks.
‘How many months has it been?’
The thought of sharing the news with her brother quickened her steps. Her bouncing pink hair caught the eyes of the students leaving the school gates.
“Just in time for classes to end, I see.”
Several carriages filed out through the open iron gates, each grandly displaying its family crest.
‘Surely he hasn’t left already?’
Not many students walked home. Avel fidgeted, bending and straightening her knees as she peered through the main gate. The white ribbon atop her high ponytail fluttered.
“Ahem, excuse me.”
“….”
“Hey!”
“….”
“You with the pink hair!”
“Me?”
She turned around to find a boy, a head shorter than herself, puffing out his chest.
“What?”
“This is the kingdom’s most prestigious academy.”
“I know.” That’s why she and Sananeth had worked so hard to get in.
Her nonchalant attitude brought a slight flush to the boy’s ears.
“R-right. Of course you know. If you have ears! And! Our academy strictly prohibits outsiders.”
“That’s why I’m outside.”
“…R-right.”
‘What’s with this kid?’ Her eyes, bright as black pearls, clouded with boredom. She thought he might leave, but after a moment’s hesitation, the boy puffed out his chest again.
“B-but do you even know who I am to speak so informally?”
“Do you know who I am to speak so informally?”
“I am Allegro, the second son of the esteemed Viscount Lambrache.”
“….”
“Ahem! I was thinking of bestowing upon you an unimaginable honor.”
“….”
“How about spending this tedious afternoon with me?”
His speech, a mere imitation of etiquette, and his swaggering demeanor were followed by a string of self-praise, but Avel heard none of it. Her dark eyes calculated his height and weight.
‘Should I just throw him?’
If she tossed him deep into the academy grounds, it would take him a while to get back.
“To a mere commoner, this must be an undreamt-of opportunity. I shall personally-”
“Why?”
“Why? Oh, of course you’re curious! Your hair, your lovely cheeks, they’re quite… .”
“I know I’m cute, adorable, and practically an angelic incarnation.”
“…Such praise wasn’t,”
“So why should I hang out with you? You’re not cute, adorable, or even remotely pleasant to look at.”
A kind smile curved her lips. Tap, tap, tap. Her rounded thumb pressed against her other fingers.
