I Ended Up Saving the Duke Who Was Meant to Die - Chapter 3.9
“Yes, we looked around the area but couldn’t determine which family she was from. As you said, Your Highness, we should probably seek out the High Priest.”
“Since the High Priest was a witness, he must know who she is.”
Gabriel wanted to get his hands on his weakness quickly. Now was the perfect time for that.
“Send someone to Blake Duke’s villa when the Duke arrives at the battlefield.”
“Your Highness, I’m concerned it might be dangerous.”
“How long can they hold out without the Duke there?”
There was little chance he would return in a short time. So the knights at the villa might collapse from exhaustion against the endless waves of attackers. While secretly kidnapping just the woman would be the cleanest solution, Gabriel wanted to thoroughly destroy his dwelling place.
“It’s suspicious that information about that woman isn’t easy to obtain. There must be something they’re hiding.”
“One thing that’s certain is that this so-called Duchess has red hair.”
“Red? Of all colors, he took a red-haired woman as his wife? Perhaps he was drawn to her because she’s similar to him?”
Gabriel twisted his lips into a smile. The imperial family had long been secretly spreading rumors that red was unlucky and ominous. The intention was, of course, to check Severus’s influence. After consistently instilling this in people for a long time, now everyone in the empire recognized red as a symbol of demons, bad omens, and witches.
“There will be ripples when that woman enters society. It might not be bad to bring her in and naturally show her to others before that happens.”
“Haha! That’s quite an appealing method too. The Duke will be busy with one more person to protect.”
“Your Highness, shall we prepare right away then?”
“Yes, capture that woman secretly. If he’s anxious, he’ll return, and that would work just as well.”
Gabriel pulled up the corner of his mouth.
“If he returns, I’d like to see headlines like ‘The Devil Returns Alive, A Witch Was Behind Him!’ on the front page.”

Severus carefully laid the sleeping Irene on the seat. He dipped a cloth in a basin of water and gently wiped away the bodily fluids between her legs.
“Just where did she think she was coming to, without any fear.”
As he spread her legs and wiped, Irene whimpered, furrowing her brows. They had made love for so long that he’d lost count of how many times he’d buried himself in her.
Yet seeing Irene sleeping defenseless before him made his blood boil again down below. Severus irritably ran his hand through his hair at his member who had already become rigid.
“Am I a beast?”
Seeing how he was in heat at all times, he must be a beast indeed.
He deliberately ignored his *rection pressing against his left thigh as he finished cleaning her body.
“Mmmmh.”
When he wiped her wet womanhood with the cloth, Irene’s body jerked. The cold cloth must have felt strange as it passed over.
“This is maddening.”
While wiping the wet area, more fluid flowed from her closed entrance. Her intimate place was getting wet just from the slight touch.
“Irene, how can you be so lewd? How will I present you to others?”
He bit his lip at the sight of her entrance twitching as if wanting his member, even while she slept. He wondered what she would think of him if he were to bury himself in her right now.
“You madman.”
Severus chuckled. After cleaning her body thoroughly, he changed her clothes. Then he went outside the carriage, leaned back, and looked at the sky.
It seemed it would take some time before he could go back into the carriage. If he stayed in the same space with her now, he might not be able to control himself.
He crossed his arms and closed his eyes. At times like this, he needed to think about the battlefield or something else.
‘I need to end this quickly so Irene won’t be in danger.’
It wouldn’t be safe even to meet with the mercenaries. They too were likely already employed by the imperial family. They would ignore it even if he fell into danger.
He was used to all of that, but Irene wasn’t. He needed to send her back to the villa, but somehow he felt things wouldn’t go smoothly.
Above all, with the coachman gone, it wasn’t right to send her back to the villa alone on horseback. But if he were to return with her, disobeying the imperial order, it would be treason.
Though he had obtained documents stating the imperial family wouldn’t interfere with his affairs, there were many loopholes. They could simply claim it was imperial business unrelated to Duke Blake, and that would be that.
Severus sighed at his now somewhat calmed lower body.
‘I must finish this without her getting hurt.’
There was no other answer. If he became unsafe, Irene would be in danger too. Whether she returned to the temple or the imperial family discovered her identity, neither would be good.
Though he didn’t know what she was thinking when she came all this way, one thing was certain. She didn’t want him to die. When he was exhausted, it was unbelievable to have her before his eyes.
The moment Severus saw her, he couldn’t help but overwhelm her. No one would refuse someone as lovable as her.
He decided to spend the night outside the carriage for Irene’s sake. Right now, in this place, he seemed to be the most dangerous thing to her. But separately from that, it seemed there were those who didn’t want him to rest.
Severus’s eyes suddenly changed. He drew the sword he had placed against the wall and moved away from the carriage.
The priority was to handle this quietly and quickly so she wouldn’t wake up.
