As they moved to the annex, Melias, Damon, and Edwin formed a triangle around Illein, as if they were her escorts.

‘Ugh! This is suffocating!‘

Illein felt like she was about to choke, though she couldn’t pinpoint why amidst their closeness.

Edwin, with his sulky demeanor, and Melias, who maintained a rigid expression, added to the discomfort. Damon, typically more talkative, had fallen silent as well, creating an awkward atmosphere.

Illein found the tension too uncomfortable, so she decided to break the silence, albeit unexpectedly, by speaking to Edwin.

“Edwin, are you okay?”

He looked at her as if questioning what she meant.

“I was just wondering, after everything that happened, if you might be tired.”

“Worrying about everything, aren’t you?”

He smiled at her remark. While he might have been the one emotionally drained earlier, it was likely her who had endured more stress from the situation.

After all, she was the one who had taken the truth serum, and he found it slightly annoying that their conversation was interrupted before it could finish.

Just then, Melias interrupted.

“What about you, Illein? Are you alright?”

He stepped in because he didn’t like that Illein was chatting with Edwin.

Although Melias genuinely cared about her well-being, his timing felt intentional.

He understood that she was concerned about Edwin. After all, her kind nature likely made her worry for someone who seemed burdened by constant slandering like Edwin.

Having been bullied by Willai and his group, she likely projected her own experiences onto Edwin.

Perhaps that’s why Melias considered the upcoming disciplinary committee important. If she could overcome this ordeal, she would no longer feel pity or worry for Edwin.

Melias didn’t like seeing Illein distracted by other matters.

“Alright, Illein. If it’s too difficult to walk, just say so. I can carry you comfortably.”

At that moment, Damon chimed in without a hint of awareness.

“I’m fine.”

Illein waved her hand dismissively as she replied.

“Really? That’s too bad.”

“Still, thanks!”

Illein fell silent after that. She had tried to lighten the awkward atmosphere with conversation, but instead, it only became more uncomfortable.

Enduring the stifling tension for a while, Illein finally arrived at the annex where the disciplinary committee would be held.

In front of the annex, her friends from Class 1 had already gathered.

Their expressions were tense, but in a different way than Illein’s.

Though they were all noble offspring with various experiences, the prospect of a formal trial over something that had occurred at the academy was an entirely new experience for them.

As a result, they couldn’t hide their nervousness.

Illein exchanged awkward greetings with them.

“Oh! You all arrived early!”

But just then, Professor Sharian appeared before them in an instant using teleportation magic.

Normally, teleportation within the academy was prohibited. However, professors were the exception.

This was to enable them to respond actively to various incidents that could occur within the academy.

“Alright, let’s go in now.”

Leading the group, Professor Sharian reached the main entrance of the annex and waved his wand.

As the doors opened and they stepped inside, the atmosphere became heavy and subdued.

“Welcome, everyone.”

The chairman greeted them and guided them to the witness stand. As the scheduled time for the disciplinary committee approached,

—Bang! Tada-da-da! Bang!

The windows all closed, and the doors locked. In the solemn atmosphere, the chairman gestured for silence.

“The purpose of today’s disciplinary committee is to determine whether the students from Class 10 will be expelled.”

Alisha, Willai, Lennon, Maxinon, Phenon and Lennin turned pale at the chairman’s words.

“Let’s begin the disciplinary committee.”

The chairman’s statement felt like a foreboding prelude before a death sentence. Willai, Alisha, Maxinon, Phenon, and Lennin, all looking pale, exchanged glances filled with resentment.

“According to the information I received from the police, it seems that you have harassed Student Illein Thierry on more than one occasion.”

The chairman looked at them with a chilling expression.

They stood in a line, looking like they were already on trial, gazing at the podium where the chairman stood.

“First, Student Willai?”

“Yes?”

“You’ve repeatedly insulted Student Illein’s family and made serious mockeries regarding their finances.”

“That’s n-not true…”

“I’ve confirmed that it is indeed true. What’s your explanation?”

The chairman interrupted Willai, her imposing presence causing Willai to shrink back slightly.

“Well! I admit I was wrong. But there’s a reason. I really like Lady Illenas… I want to marry her, but Illein keeps getting in the way, and out of anger…”

As Willai spoke, tears streamed down his face.

His reddened eyes and genuine sobs made it hard for anyone to believe that his emotions were fake. His tears seemed all too real.

“Really?”

So intense was the scene that even the chairman, who had been trying to maintain a serious atmosphere, appeared momentarily flustered.
