“I came to work on an assignment with Illein.”

Though they could see them from afar, they felt those of noble birth were figures they could never approach.
In their hospitality, they forgot that Edwin might pose a threat to the scholarship Illein could receive due to her academic performance.
Edwin accepted their warm welcome and entered.
“Take him to the reception room!”
“Yes, Mother.”
Illein said this and intended to lead Edwin straight to the reception room.
“Let’s go to Illein’s room. We’re here for the assignment after all.”
“Alright.”
She exchanged a glance with Edwin that suggested they would head to her room. In response, Baron Thierry and his wife nodded, albeit a bit flustered.
“Then excuse us.”
Edwin said this as he and Illein headed up to the third floor.
Once they arrived in Illein’s room, she immediately cast a silence spell. Then she shut the door.
“Why the silence…?”
“Because it’s obvious they’d eavesdrop.”
Edwin thought that leaving the door open would allow her to respond to any potential threats.
He wondered if her use of the silence spell was indeed warranted.
However, when he considered that she was doing it out of trust in him, he couldn’t help but sigh.
“We have 15 minutes left to hold hands.”
“Yes.”
“Hold my hand, and then after studying a bit, could you teach me the magic you mentioned earlier?”
“Sure, you probably already know the basics of defensive magic, so it shouldn’t be too difficult.”
“I think I can manage a bit of defensive magic since I’m close to the earth element.”
Illein smiled as she said this.
If she could learn properly from Edwin, she felt she might gain extra points for her graduation exams later.
“By the way, can you not use any recovery magic? It seems like you excel in most other elemental spells…”
“Not at all.”
As Edwin said this, he felt a strange sensation seeing Illein’s eyes light up.
He waved his wand, moving her bag and his to one side. Then he unfastened her coat and hung it next to his on the coat rack.
Next, he pulled out a notebook and a fountain pen from his bag.
“Do you want to learn from me?”
“Unfortunately, I’m really strong in fire magic, so I can’t create even a cup of water.”
“If you have plenty of magic, isn’t it possible?”

“Water magic is so soft and delicate. If you were to learn some water magic, it might make you stronger and help you gain better control.”
“That could be true.”
Edwin found her reasoning to be valid.
“My brother said before that your magic is incredibly strong and overflowing, making it hard to control.”
“That’s true.”
“Is that why you keep telling me it’s dangerous and not to come too close? Because fire magic might get out of control?”
She asked this innocently, and Edwin narrowed his eyes, nodding.
Illein felt a strange sensation, as if there were other unspoken words behind his admission.
“Well then, we can help each other out. I’ll teach you water magic, and you can teach me offensive or defensive magic.”
“…Okay.”
Illein said this as she reached out her hand, inviting him to take it.
Edwin hesitated for a moment, contemplating her hand.
Still, thinking that they had to hold hands for another 15 minutes, he intended to move closer to grasp her hand. Just then—
Bang!
“I’ve brought refreshments! Enjoy them while you talk!”
Edwin grimaced at Baroness Thierry’s sudden interruption.
He understood that, knowing Illein was currently in the form of Illenas, it was natural for the Baroness to worry about her daughter being alone in a bedroom with a strange man.

He said this while trying not to show his distaste.
“Are you very close with our Illein?”
