I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 33
“Are you really Illein’s sister!”
“Yes.”
“Actually, I came to apologize to Illein!”
Illein knew his words were nonsense.
Who would apologize by breaking down a door? Besides, his compliance now was likely because if he got reported to the police again, he could be penalized by a magistrate.
That would be a disgrace for a man of marriageable age.
“Tell my brother directly tomorrow.”
“But wait!”
He continued as he wedged his foot in the door.
“Aren’t you attending the academy anymore?”
“I’m going to call the police.”
“No! Then I’ll speak to Illein directly tomorrow! Take care, lady! See you!”
She sighed as she watched him retreat from the door.
“I’ll come again tomorrow…”
– Click.
She shut the door without wanting to hear more. Usually, she might have felt bad about such an impolite reaction, but given the day’s events, she didn’t feel it was wrong.
She didn’t want to see Willai.
However, dwelling on her feelings for him wouldn’t help her studies.
She hated the idea of an engagement with Melias as much as she hated encountering Willai.
Illein sighed, feeling no different in her new life than before—she was trapped without anything she could do.
“If only I had some talent.”
She muttered quietly and rubbed her eyes.
The redness around her eyes blurred her vision.
That was why she clung to her studies. Without anything else she was skilled at, she had to study.
Becoming an imperial official seemed to be her only way out of a desperate reality, as she lacked any other talents.
“Moping won’t change anything. Let’s keep pushing forward.”
After reassuring herself, Illein sighed and forced a smile.
Just as she was about to head upstairs:
– Bzz! Bzz! Bzzzzzzzz!
She let out an involuntary sigh. The doorbell rang just as she was about to fix the door.
– Click.
The door opened.
She said, sighing.
“Can you please leave? I really will call the police…”
“Are you going to call them?”
The person who appeared at the door was Edwin.
At that moment, Illein was confused. She remembered that this wasn’t part of the original story.
“Uh? Why are you here?”
“Why do you think?”
He stood at the door, not entering.
“May I come in?”
Illein was hesitant, wondering if it was safe to let Edwin, the obsessive top inside.
“Is anyone else home?”
“My brother is here. My parents are here too.”
Illein lied spontaneously. It seemed safer not to reveal that she was alone.
“I have urgent business. If it’s too much trouble, I can just say it here.”
It seemed Edwin had no intention of entering.
Illein thought to herself, since it wasn’t yet time for the kidnapping from the original story, he probably wouldn’t kidnap her today. But she felt uneasy because things were different from the original story. He could potentially kidnap her right away.
However, he was obsessed with the original Illein, the male version, so he likely wasn’t as interested in her, the female.
Such a threatening act would only be possible if he was out of his senses.
With that thought, she subtly adjusted her wand tucked into her thigh strap and shifted aside.
“Would you like to come into the parlor?”
If he acted threateningly, she had no intention of meekly complying, unlike the original Illein.
“Let’s do that.”
She moved to lead the way to the parlor.
– Clink
Hearing a noise from behind, she turned to see Edwin frowning as he waved his wand.
What was fixed by his wand was the main door.
“Sorry. It bothers me to see things like that.”
“No problem.”
She chuckled at his fixing the door.
In that moment, Illein managed to return to her naturally cheerful personality.
Given her need for survival, Illein had pushed aside her concerns about Willai. As their eyes met, she smiled reflexively.
She was glad she had chosen to wear a thick negligee. Though it was technically sleepwear, its substantial fabric meant she could wear it like a dress with a shawl draped over it.
As she led Edwin to the parlor, she gestured for him to sit on the sofa. At least for now, she could pretend she didn’t know he was a prince.
As she took out some of the few remaining tea sets from the cupboard.
Edwin didn’t sit down but instead came over to her side and took the teaset from her hands. He carried it over to the table and began setting it up.
“I came late at night; let me prepare the tea.”
“You’re the guest.”
“Do you know who I am?”
“You’re a friend of my brother, right?”
Elaine said so, pretending to be unaware.
