I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 53
“Hello?”
“Ah, yes. What brings you here?”
Illein headed to the police station right after the academy classes ended.
“Do reports accumulate over time?”
“Yes, they do. Accumulated reports can lead to more severe penalties during prosecution. What type of report would you like to file?”
Illein thought Alisha was foolish.
She was one of the people reported under the name of Young Duke Candelaria for persistent harassment.
Willai, Maxinon, Phenon, Alisha. These four were scheduled to be disciplined by the committee for their continual harassment of Illein.
Such a threat from Alisha seemed ridiculous. Illein wasn’t just passively enduring; she had been biding her time, constrained by what her parents might endure.
Now she had someone to defend her parents.
Illein planned to maintain good relations with Melias until graduation and graduate from the academy as part of that plan.
So, she preferred to resolve this rather than endure another year of torment.
Damon is from Duke Candelaria’s family, and Willai’s father is her father’s superior. These two could pose a threat to her, but not Alisha.
She wasn’t entangled in any conflicting interests.
“I’m being threatened. I feel my life is in danger.”
“Could you elaborate, please?”
The officer seemed to recognize Illein in her Bellaine Academy uniform. Given the recent incidents at the academy, the police had been quite involved. It was unfortunate such incidents were happening in such a prestigious academy.
“I understand there was a recent report about violence within the academy. Am I correct? I am one of the victims.”
“Please show me some identification to confirm your identity before I can proceed.”
The officer reviewed the ID card that Illein handed over, which confirmed her name as Illein Thierry. The physical description matched.
“Here.”
Illein showed her thumb, the fingerprint below ready to be compared for further verification.
“It’s you. Please wait a moment.”
The officer then left to fetch some documents and returned shortly with the paperwork needed.
At first glance, it looked to be about fifty pages.
“Why is there so much?”
“There are several statements mixed in. We haven’t finished interviewing all the reference persons yet.”
Illein watched the investigator search for something and wondered if they had to read all those documents.
“What’s the name of the person you want to add charges against?”
“Alisha.”
“Ah, yes. Here it is.”
He quickly pulled out the documents and read them to Illein.
“They tried to frame you as a wallet thief. There are also statements about periodic harassment.”
In this world, the power of a statement was enormous because everyone was given a truth serum before making their statements.
The truth serum that the police carried was powerful enough to make someone divulge even their parents’ secrets.
All statements were made verbally, recorded, and then transcribed into documents.
“Can you tell me what kind of threat you received?”
Illein blankly looked at the truth serum the investigator handed her and quickly drank it.
Her head became foggy, and she felt her defenses weakening.
However, she soon regained her senses. She felt the warmth from her ring seemed to weaken the effects of the serum.
“She asked me to go to the dance party with her.”
“I see.”
“I don’t want to go with Alisha. She also said that if I don’t go with her to the dance party, she’ll spread rumors that I pushed her down the stairs.”
“So, they threatened to spread rumors that you pushed her down the stairs if you didn’t accompany them to the dance party?”
“Yes. I think she believes spreading such rumors would get her a lighter punishment in this case.”
“That makes sense.”
“And I’ve heard that appearing to be on friendly terms might be favorable for the judgment.”
“Yes, that’s correct.”
“And a friend of Alisha keeps coming to our house, pressuring me to reconcile.”
Illein deliberately did not mention that this friend was Willai.
After all, her father’s job was at stake.
“How often does this happen?”
“They come to harass me every day. Now they’re threatening not to leave my younger sister alone if she doesn’t attend the dance party with them. It’s not enough that they wait in front of our mansion every day, they also ask for my sister and threaten further if we don’t cooperate.”
“….How terrible!”
“I was really scared… I knew all this was Alisha’s scheming, yet I couldn’t tell anyone. I was terrified that something might happen to me or my sister.”
“Oh my!”
“They always come with a robust knight who carries a large sword. It’s terrifying how menacing he is, as if he could slash my hand before I even reach for my wand.”
Confessions were very expensive. So once the investigation was concluded all the charges would be charged to the responsible party.
“Thank you for sharing this. We will take note of this.”
