I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 54
The investigator recorded Illein’s statement and afterwards, she received medication to mitigate the effects of the truth serum before heading home.
She did not immediately consume the antidote.
It was quite expensive. So she planned to sell it at the black market later.
After the investigation, Illein returned to her mansion.
“Is this a Merin?”
Illein was shocked to see an incredibly expensive magical creature being brought in by Edwin.
“I promised to teach you transformation and attack magic, didn’t I? We’ll start with transformation today.”
“Is it…really a Merin?”
“Yes.”
She knew a single Merin could support the Thierry family for a year without them needing to work.
“Is it alright to practice with such an expensive creature?”
“This is expensive? There are plenty of these in the palace.”
“Ahh…”
Merins were magical creatures that helped with plants. Despite being capable of destruction, Merins were not harmful, they ate mites from flowers.
–Chirp
“Oh, it’s so cute.”
“You think this is cute? You haven’t seen it eat mites.”
“Haha.”
Illein almost retracted her comment when she saw the Merin’s fang-like teeth and spiky tongue inside its mouth.
Still, it looked cute like a furry ball most of the time.
“When transforming, the most important thing is to clearly know the appearance of what you want to transform into.”
“Understood.”
“For instance, if you want to transform it into a glass, you need to know what material it’s made of, what it looks like. And knowing what kind of creature a Merin is, is crucial. Merins are simple creatures, that’s why I brought one. It’s good for practice.”
Illein was intrigued by Edwin’s explanation, which she hadn’t read in books.
“How did you know that?”
“Just a feeling.”
She felt that her time with Edwin was very useful, learning things she couldn’t find in books. The books only told her to concentrate and visualize the shape.
“Look at this. This transparent glass is made by heating special sand.”
“Yes, that’s right.”
Edwin showed Illein the round glass cup.
“Touch it.”
Illein received it and touched it as Edwin told her. She felt its smooth, chilly surface.
“Merins mostly inhabit the southern regions. They like humans and even give flowers.”
“Really? I never knew that.”
School had never provided detailed information about magical creatures.
“Should we name it?”
“Umm, how about ‘Lu’?”
“Lu it is. Its fur is white and soft. Try touching it.”
–Queek
When the Merin curled up in Illein’s palm, it soon unfurled, its fur remaining incredibly soft despite being half-unfurled.
“Take a look at its teeth.”
Illein carefully touched the Merin’s mouth.
“Wow!”
The teeth appeared far more scary than she had initially thought.
“Now, close your eyes and visualize the Merin’s appearance. Think of sculpting, transforming the Merin into glass. Imagine its soft fur turning into glossy glass, and its cute eyes becoming clear.”
Illein waved her wand, and the Merin transformed into a transparent glass cup.
“Amazing!”
“Well done. You’re quite talented.”
Edwin complimented her, patting her hair lightly.
Illein thought Edwin was treating her with a sense of camaraderie. But she realized who he was and grew cautious.
It seemed like he had a fondness for the male version of Illein, yet why was he petting her hair?
She couldn’t fully enjoy the moment due to these mixed feelings.
Afterward, he took her hand and left after their 20-minutes ended, and Illein found herself energized to study late into the night.
She rarely feels tired these days.
Before, her studies were rushed, but now she could afford leisure.
“The dance party is next Monday. There will be no morning classes, only the event in the afternoon.”
It was now Friday.
“Everyone, make sure to bring your ID and wand to the dance party. They will be required for attendance.”
Professor Damien finished the announcements.
“Illein.”
“Huh?”
As soon as the announcements were over, Damon approached her.
“Come with me for a moment.”
“Huh?”
“I’m sorry I need you to come with me for a moment.”
Illein noticed Melias entering the classroom and smiled at him.
“Did Class 2 finish early today? You’ve been waiting, I see.”
“Yes. Today, you’ll need to come with me.”
“Alright, then. See you next time, Damon.”
“Uh, yeah, sure.”
Damon shrugged with a slight disappointment but smiled nonetheless.
Illein then had to accompany Melias to his estate.
“Is it because of the dress?”
After they arrived at the estate, Melias nodded to her question.
Illein felt uneasy about the dance party.
After all, she had four rejection cards to send out.
