I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 62
Illein ended up sharing a carriage with Melias.
Sitting across from him, she found herself repeatedly smiling whenever their eyes met, trying to dispel the awkwardness.
“Have you ever had a scary dream, Melias?”
She brought it up somewhat randomly, and Melias seemed to think deeply before answering.
“You don’t have to say anything if you haven’t.”
Illein quickly added, thinking she might have asked him an unnecessary question.
“I don’t dream much. But I could think of a way to be summoned whenever you have a nightmare. There is an artifact in the family that involves summoning.”
Illein chuckled at his response.
She was amused by his serious attempt to empathize with her.
“What if I call you over anytime?”
“Then I guess I’d always be there,” he replied simply.
His answer made her feel oddly reassured that Melias might genuinely be a good person despite her heavy heart. She was becoming more comfortable around him.
She wondered if things would have been easier if she had fallen for him at first sight, feeling butterflies every time they met.
Melias seemed well-raised and trustworthy, having a good relationship with his father and a strong sense of mutual respect.
“Melias, actually, I was a bit scared by a nightmare I had last night. Edwin was in it.”
“The Prince?”
“Yes, probably because I’m sensitive about rankings. It’s also almost midterms.”
Illein said, glancing downward.
Melias felt oddly affected by her dream.
“Maybe I shouldn’t have said it was a strange dream.”
“What happened in the dream between you two?”
“I was asleep, and Edwin… he was just standing beside me. It was scary because his eyes were bright red, and it felt like he was glaring at me…”
Melias felt strangely unsettled when he heard that.
He realized that the man in Illein’s dream was not just any man, but a particularly admirable one.
“Next time, you should call me into your dream.”
“What? Ah…”
Illein nodded seriously because Melias spoke seriously. Melias regretted his words immediately.
He felt pathetic as they sounded childish and rather silly.
Yet, the fact that Edwin was the only one in her nightmare bothered him, as did the fact that it had scared her.
He hated that it was Edwin who appeared in Illein’s dream, but he was more perturbed that she seemed preoccupied with it all day. As if she cared deeply about Edwin.
“Would you send Edwin away if I called?”
“If that’s what Illein wants, I would.”
Illein looked intently at Melias as his expression lightened. His golden eyes sparkled like molten gold. It was particularly beautiful as the sun set outside.
“May I draw the curtains back?”
At her request, Melias gently pulled back the curtains of the window she was looking towards.
The sunset light flooded the carriage warmly.
Illein enjoyed the sight of the sunset’s warm light draping over Melias. His gold and the orange hues of the sunset complemented each other well.
In contrast, the sunset light on Illein’s pale features seemed mismatched yet somehow fitting with her warm nature.
Her silver hair shimmered under the sunset, creating a rippling effect.
The shadows her bright eyelashes cast and the sunset light that touched her clear blue eyes made them sparkle like flickering candles, drawing his gaze.
Melias thought that a warm and compliant woman like Illein would be ideal to co-lead the family.
Yet, he also felt a desire to revive the desires and emotions that had been suppressed throughout her life.
“Illein.”
“Yes?”
“If we were to marry and you became my wife…”
“Yes? Oh… Yes.”
“I’ll do my best to make you comfortable.”
Somehow Melias’s emotions were heightened by the sunset light cascading over her face, making his heart flutter.
“Thank you.”
Soon, her face brightened with a smile.
With that, they continued talking as they headed towards the academy.
“Don’t leave me alone!”
Alisha was furious.
She had never imagined she would attend this dance party without a partner.
And then.
“This is from the Police Department. We notify you that if you harm Elaine Thierry one more time, it may negatively affect your court ruling.”
There was a notification letter from the Police Department.
The letter was a warning and had loudly announced its message three times while following Alisha before it self-destructed in flames.
