I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 66
Illein was incredibly nervous, and seeing Damon’s expression made her heart race even more.
She was afraid that if he got angry with her right then, or if he said he wanted to cut ties because she hadn’t told him the truth, she wouldn’t know how to handle it.
“Illenas.”
Illein found some calm in the warmth of Damon’s firm grip on her hand.
He had always treated her kindly and warmly.
Reminding herself that he wouldn’t get angry with her seemed to help.
“I’d really appreciate your honesty.”
“I will.”
When she responded with a trembling voice, Damon himself seemed to tremble as he spoke.
“Were you and Melias in a relationship?”
“No, that’s not it.”
“Then can I ask what this engagement is about? I’m really confused and don’t know what to ask. I also don’t understand your feelings.”
Tears welled up in Illein’s eyes as she heard Damon’s gentle words.
“Damon, I—well…”
“Yes, I’m listening. Take your time to organize your thoughts.”
She felt as if his firm grasp was there to give her courage.
“It’s just that…”
Illein was also weighed down by issues concerning the Thierry family, and she was torn about how much to tell Damon and what should remain unsaid.
“So, it’s like…”
Realizing her dilemma, Damon let out a small sigh.
“Illenas.”
“Yes…”
“You haven’t really drunk alcohol before, right?”
“Yes.”
“How about we talk over some drinks?”
“Really? But Melias will be back soon…”
“Just the two of us for a bit, it should be okay.”
Illein hesitated but knew Damon well enough to slowly nod in agreement.
Damon was known for his considerate and perceptive nature. He was never one to deliberately put someone in a difficult position.
She might not know exactly what Damon was planning, but she wanted to trust him.
“Then give me your hand.”
As Damon reached out, she moved to take it, yet she glanced back, half-expecting Melias to appear suddenly.
“Don’t worry too much.”
“Ah…!”
As she took his hand, Damon began to use a wind magic spell.
He had not even taken out a wand, yet his body was levitating.
Soon, his wind magic lingered around her, and Illein found herself lifted alongside him, going up to the second floor.
Illein and Damon, who had reached the second floor, found it much quieter compared to the first.
Naturally, the dance party had just started, and most guests would only arrive around 8 PM to confirm their attendance.
It was just 7 PM now. There weren’t many people on the first floor, and even fewer on the second.
Originally, it was intended as a space for students who had consumed too much alcohol to rest.
However, the area had a spell to prevent any misconduct. For instance, if someone attempted to engage in overly intimate behaviors, a loud alarm would trigger.
“Here.”
Damon seated Illein on a sofa and then fetched glasses of alcohol from the first floor to the second using his wind magic.
The ease with which the drinks arrived in her hand thanks to the wind magic was amazing to her.
Illein hadn’t drunk alcohol before. She had a few experiences in her past life, but those were mostly against her will.
Even though she had been of legal age for several months, she hadn’t drunk. She was under the pressure to study.
But today, she wanted to try it, just this once.
She had been under a lot of stress lately and wanted to have that blissful state. She stared at the whiskey sloshing around in the clear glass and then gulped it down in one go.
“Illenas?”
“!”
Damon was about to clink glasses with her but she had downed her drink. He chuckled at the situation, perhaps finding it amusing.
“It’s good…!”
“Want to try mine?”
“Ah… yes.”
Illein didn’t refuse and took Damon’s glass as well. She then quickly drank it down.
“Ha.”
After downing two glasses of strong whiskey, she felt a bit braver.
Damon laughed lightly at her demeanor.
“So, can you tell me now? Why did you come with Melias? And are you two really engaged?”
Damon had already taken the glass from Illein’s hand and placed it aside on a nearby table. He then held her hand firmly, asking earnestly.
As Illein gazed into Damon’s sparkling purple eyes, she felt almost enchanted and blurted out.
“If I tell you everything, will you help me?”
Damon’s eyes widened in misunderstanding. He thought she might be being threatened.
“Tell me what’s going on. I’m always on your side, Illenas.”
Illein found it strange how Damon was treating her much like he would when she was in her male guise. They weren’t particularly close when she was Illenas.
She felt slightly buzzed but not fully drunk.
