I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 71
Edwin’s comment startled her. It was as if he had uncovered a deeply held wish of hers through a dream. Yet she also felt regret that, even in her dream, Edwin preferred men, not women.
“Are you happy because it’s like a dream?”
“I suppose so. But we can’t kiss before marriage.”
“Do you want to marry me?”
She felt like he was leading the questions somewhere strange.
“Edwin wouldn’t want to marry me.”
“I wouldn’t?”
“Right.”
His expression softened significantly.
“Do you really think so?”
“Yes.”
“How about you stop trying to catch me off guard?”
“But you’re always on guard.”
As he moved closer, she instinctively shut her eyes. However, instead of his lips, his kiss landed on her cheek.
“What’s this?”
“It’s soft.”
He chuckled lightly.
“Oh, right!”
Suddenly, she grabbed his hand, realizing they hadn’t shared magic.
“Hey?”
Without thinking, she hugged him and began to channel her magic into him. The control device’s symbols appeared on the back of her hand.
“Uh… Kugh!”
Unexpectedly, he pulled away, overwhelmed by the magic flowing through him.
“Edwin?”
“What’s this… Why you…!”
Illein saw blood stains on her shoulder from him and became worried.
“Are you alright, Edwin?”
She staggered up to use her healing magic on him. Then,
–Bang!
“Uh!”
Whether Damon had woken up or not, he unleashed a wind sharp as a blade without even drawing his wand.
–Boom!
Damon’s blade-like wind grazed Edwin, and with a loud noise, dust swirled as if the building was cut.
“Ah…!”
Illein worried if the building might collapse, but thanks to strong preservation magic, it quickly restored itself.
The ballroom was designed with magic to prevent any chaos caused by drunken students casting spells.
“Ah…”
However, as the dust settled, nothing remained visible, as if he had never existed.
Illein was baffled by the situation, and Damon was struggling to get up, his head throbbing and blood dripping from his nose due to the impact.
“Damon, are you alright?”
“Are you okay? What exactly was that…?”
Damon grimaced, and Illein, still tipsy, began to use a healing spell on him, which quickly healed his condition.
Believing the surroundings to be safe again, Damon deactivated the wind barrier he had set up in case debris from the building might fall.
And then,
“What in the world is going on here?”
Melias approached them with a pale face.
His normally well-groomed platinum blond hair was disheveled. He must be looking for Illein and Damon for a long time.
“Melias.”
Seeing Melias, Illein felt a moment of relief and smiled brightly as he approached.
“Illena, are you hurt? What’s that blood?”
He rushed over, alarmed by the bloodstains on her shoulder.
Illein watched Melias approach, his golden cloak fluttering like golden water rippling off his shoulders.
“It’s not my blood.”
“Are you certain?”
Melias visually checked her for any injuries, but there were no signs of external harm on her, just the strong smell of alcohol on her breath.
“Ugh, my head hurts…”
That was all that was visibly wrong with Damon.
“Damon, did you give Illenas alcohol?”
“Ah, yes. It just happened.”
“You made my fiance drink excessively and vomit blood?”
“It’s not my blood.”
“Look, all we did was drink.”
Damon said that in a flustered voice as he was bewildered by Melias’s anger.
“I was about to give her a hangover remedy.”
“Expect me to believe that now?”
Melias felt an unprecedented rage yet unable to unleash it as Illein gazed intently at him, and asked.
“Why did you let Illenas drink so much?”
Illein became stunned again at the severity in Melias’s voice.
“I drank it myself.”
“Why would you do that?”
“I just wanted to try it. Damon and I went way back, and it was my first time drinking, so I guess I got too excited.”
“Why didn’t you stay on the terrace then? Why go up to the second floor?”
“I came up looking for more alcohol.”
Illein explained, her head spinning slightly, and she gently leaned on Melias’s shoulder. Melias supported her. He took out his wand and began to magically clean the bloodstains on her clothes.
