I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 75
“Hey, you.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
The moment a member of the Police Department started to approach Damon, who had made the report, the Second Prince intervened, looking at the leading knight.
“Explain the reason for the report.”
The knight of the Police Department, noticing the glowing red of the reporter’s wand, was about to follow it but hesitated, not wanting to upset the Second Prince.
“A report was filed. About 20 minutes ago, someone attacked a person on the second floor.”
“Is that so?” The Second Prince said, his interest piqued as he glanced at Edwin. As if suggesting he might be the culprit.
“What kind of attack was it?”
“That is…”
Damon, who had connections with the Second Prince, thought it might be better to clarify things here and stepped forward.
“Greetings to the Empire’s Young Sun.”
“Young Duke Candelaria, I see.”
Damon didn’t like the Second Prince. The reason being the Second Prince, despite being the same age, condescendingly spoke to him in an old man’s tone.
And there were other reasons. The Second Prince was engaged to Damon’s cousin, which he also didn’t appreciate.
He especially hated that his cousin resembled him, which somehow irked him.
“Can you elaborate on what happened?”
Damon wasn’t beholden to anyone until he officially became Duke Candelaria.
Therefore, he disliked both the Second Prince and Edwin.
“I was on the second floor with Lena when someone struck me on the head, knocking me out.”
Lena was a pseudonym he had created for Illein.
“Was it a magic user?”
“Yes, it seems they summoned a blunt instrument with magic to strike me.”
“Are you all right?”
Illein felt something was off while they were talking.
She sensed an intrusion in her mind, becoming momentarily dazed and feeling her memories distort.
Despite the strange sensation shaking her, she snapped back to attention at Damon’s voice.
“I’m fine now, I’ve been treated. But it seems my partner was threatened while I was unconscious.”
At that moment, Willai noticed that Illenas was not beside Melias. He found it strange to see another woman there instead, which stirred his heart oddly.
He slyly approached her to catch her scent, he found that her magical aura was similar to that of Illenas.
At that moment, Alisha became furious with Illein. She was infuriated that Illein had stood her up and was nowhere to be seen at the dance party, so she blurted out impulsively.
“That! It might be Illein!”
“What are you talking about?”
For the first time, Melias snapped back without thinking
“Lady Alisha, you’ve been bothering Illein before, and now this again? What has Illein done to deserve this? Are we supposed to attack someone who couldn’t even come today because they were ill?”
It would have been better not to come at all if it was going to draw such attention. And that was what Damon and Illein had thought too.
As Illenas, she could just make a delayed appearance and that would be the end of it.
“No, Lord Wignum, why do you defend Illein so much? Were you two that close?”
“Yes.”
“Oh, really? But the only one not here is Illein, so how can you be sure he isn’t the culprit?”
At that, Edwin, who had been silent, spoke up.
“It seems you really haven’t come to your senses.”
Although Edwin usually ignored provocations from his siblings, now he looked at Alisha with annoyance and spoke.
“There’s no reason for Illein to attack Young Duke Candelaria. Besides, Illein’s attribute is water, not attack magic.”
“He could have learned it, couldn’t he? Who knows if he practiced?”
“True, Illein is talented in most magic, but not in attack magic.”
Edwin knew Illein’s power well, and he was also familiar with the magical aura similar to Illenas.
Their talents were more aligned with defense than attack, and even more so with healing than defense.
If Illein had a talent for offensive magic, he would have joined an extermination squad to earn money.
But he couldn’t, because his talent was closer to healing.
“That’s true. I’ve been childhood friends with Illein since we were very young. There’s no way I wouldn’t know about my friend’s magic. And… the Illein I know wouldn’t resort to violence even if he’s angry.”
Damon said this while looking at Illein.
Illein found it strange. It seemed as though they should be referring to her as Illenas, yet they were addressing her as Illein.
She also wondered if they meant to pass on the message to Illein later.
“Excuse me! But where did Lady Illenas go?”
Willai looked around anxiously. He felt uneasy not being able to find Illenas anywhere.
“Why do you ask that?”
Melias seemed even more displeased because of Willai.
“No, I saw Lady Illenas earlier, but she’s not here now.”
“Are you suggesting Lady Illenas might be involved in this incident?”
