I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 90
Illein nodded helplessly at his words.
Rodein seemed satisfied with her response and smiled. But then, she was startled when her hand was unexpectedly pulled away.
“Edwin?”
Edwin had pulled Illein away from Rodein, distancing her from him.
Illein didn’t even notice when Edwin had gotten up. All she knew was that when she came to her senses, Edwin was pulling her out of her chair.
“It seems Illein is feeling quite unwell.”
“What? Oh dear!”
“I… I…”
Illein realized Edwin must have been trying to help her because he thought she was having trouble with Rodein.
“I feel dizzy…”
“Get to the infirmary immediately! It would be great if Edwin could take you there!”
“Of course.”
Edwin said this and then grabbed Illein’s hand, pulling her away. Meanwhile, Rodein, perhaps annoyed, grabbed her hand again and refused to let go.
Illein was flustered by being tugged in two directions.
“Um, Rodein… if you could let go…”
“Professor, may I go with them? I just started at the academy today and would like to get to know Illein.”
“Oh, is that so?”
“No, you stay out of it.”
Edwin’s cold tone prompted Rodein to glare at him.
“Stop interfering and focus on your studies. Always second place.”
Rodein glared at Edwin with wide eyes, clearly angered by his remark.
“If you want to beat me, you’d better pay attention in class. You can’t even handle a mission.”
Edwin made his point and then pulled Illein completely into his arms and started to walk away with her.
“Well then! I’ll finish the class! Everyone, focus on the blackboard!”
The professor of automated magic said this as the atmosphere grew tense.
Despite the professors being above students within the academy, it was only natural for them to fear the imperial family in the outside world.
Even though Edwin was the dethroned First Prince, there were still supporters of his. They pretended to be neutral, waiting for the right moment—a fact that perceptive people could sense.
Moreover, Rodein, as the Second Prince, was both the Emperor’s favorite and the current Empress’s most cherished son.
It was only natural for them to avoid getting involved in the power struggle between the two men.
Rodein, appearing dissatisfied, leaned back against the backrest with a sullen expression, glaring toward the podium.
Damon looked back at Rodein. Rodein then smiled at Damon, as if nothing had happened.
Damon couldn’t help but think that his cousin was indeed just like that, being two-faced. He shivered at the thought and shook his head.
Illein was being dragged outside by Edwin, her arm firmly held. She struggled to keep up with his fast pace, and then her legs got tangled.
“Oops!”
As she bumped her head against Edwin’s back, he momentarily startled and instinctively pulled her.
“What’s going on?”
Her arm was tangled with his as he held her close. Her face was pressed against his solid chest, making her feel oddly embarrassed.
“I tripped. Sorry.”
Feeling embarrassed and wanting to pull away, she found it strangely difficult due to her awkwardly tangled arms.
As she struggled, Edwin let go of her hand and helped her stand up straight.
“What’s the matter… what’s going on?”
Illein was unsure how to respond to Edwin’s strange question. Realizing they were still in the hallway and their conversation might be overheard by others, she couldn’t find the words.
“Why are you so weak?”
“Huh?”
Illein suddenly realized, after seeing Edwin frown and pressed his sleeve against her nose.
“Oh! My nose is bleeding!”
“…Hah.”
Only then did she understand that the warmth in her nose was due to the bleeding. She was startled as Edwin quickly pinched her nose with his hand.
The pressure was so intense she worried he might break her nose bone.
“Ow!”
Just as she was about to complain, Edwin’s strange expression made her decide to endure the pain for a bit longer.
“Treat it.”
“Ah… yes, right.”
Illein finally remembered she had healing abilities.
She quickly cast a healing spell on herself.
However, the effect was not as significant as the energy it consumed.
Feeling her magic, Edwin removed his hand.
Seeing the bloodstains on his sleeve, Illein felt guilty.
“What are you doing?”
“Thanking you.”
She waved her wand and removed the stains from his clothes.
Edwin sighed as he watched her actions.
“Why are you staggering?”
“I’m feeling a bit dizzy.”
Observing her red nose, the recent nosebleed, and her pale expression, Edwin turned and sat down.
“Get on my back.”
“…Okay.”
Illein found the situation oddly familiar, perhaps because she had been carried by him before, so it didn’t feel too strange.
